Annie's was subcontracted by my stove hood company for a repair. While repairing the hood, the repair man dropped a heavy tool on my brand new stove and put a huge chip in it. When I contacted Annie's about repairing this damage, the owner seemed disoriented and confused saying, ""I don't know what to do."" We spent 30 minutes on the phone without him providing any semblance of wanting to make it right. I'm on my own for this $350 repair.
First impression went sour! Handyman yelled and interrupted STOP STOP STOP!!! when i was trying to explain the job. He wasn't ready to listen maybe he thought it was a small job. Little did he know that I had a whole kitchen and basement work to do. This is how people loose business! Customer Service!
John,
Then you misunderstood 100%. I was never happy with the work they did. The first time they came or the second time that they came to ""fix"" it, which they did not. You came to my house talking about anything but the fact that your company did a terrible job. You took the conversation in 100 different directions besides addressing my concern. This is business John, not personal. In fact I never met you before I made the mistake of using your company for jobs around my house. We all have things in our lives go wrong, but that's not an excuse for running a business that doesn't do the job.
Steve Mazzarella installed two sump pumps and a battery powered back sump pump that I provided. Steve was very friendly and accommodating during the installation process. Steve had to remove two old sump pumps and rework discharge pipes for the new sump pumps. Steve explained the work to be done and thoroughly explained the completed project. I would recommend Steve for other plumbing projects.
I called to get an estimate to repair a hole in my roof, which was leaking into a bedroom
of one of my children. I get a callback, not from Annie but someone else who would sent
someone to give me an estimate. They came out a week later, saying it would be 250.00
dollars, which would cover materials and labor. It wasn't written down. I also told them I
already had shingles and roofing paper but the cost wasn't lowered. After stating they would
do it, they didn't come out for scheduled date and I had to call them to see if they were coming
out. The repair person said the weather was too cold and would call me when it became a
little warmer. Two weeks came by and they come on a Sunday, while I was at service. They came back but didn't finish because the sun went down. When they did come back, it was on
Christmas eve and it still leaked. The man at Annie's told me that they would come out and go
in the attic to see the problem but never came by. It isn't rocket science so I don't know why it
wasn't done right.
Our experience was terrible. When Geoff arrived to give an estimate he was extremely friendly and eager to help with our home repair project. We felt comfortable hiring him and was anxious to get started. Geoff indicated that he worked from 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday. The pricing was fair and we were excited to work with him.
He worked at our home for 4 days and not one day did he work from 9-5. In fact, most of the time he arrived after 10:30am and the final day it was after 2pm. He had very little consideration for my time and the fact that I had to rearrange my work schedule because of his inconsistency. In fact the first day he arrived he did not have the material he promised to bring with him. He ended up leaving for an hour to go to the store to buy the items. He would work 3-4 hours and then leave for the day. We had enough work in our home to keep him busy for 2-3 weeks.
On the 3rd day, he insisted that I sign a contract stating the work was completed and I was satisfied as well as pay for the entire project. I was very uncomfortable with this as the work was NOT done. He was not going to leave until I signed the contract and paid. I let him know that I was not comfortable with this at all and he told me ""I won't screw you over. You can't screw anyone over with the internet anymore"". Being a woman, home alone, I did not feel safe that I was being cornered and bullied into that.
Understanding that the mud on the wall needed time to dry, Geoff agreed to return to finish the project on Friday. He arrived after 2pm, worked for 40 minutes, and then told me he would not be returning to finish the drywall repair around the 4 doors that he agreed to.
I contacted John, the companies owner, who would not listen to my complaint, rather hung up on me. My husband called John and he had a very different tone with a Male figure. John called me back twice that evening, both times insisting that he own the conversation and did not allow me to speak my mind or explain the situation, rather, he insisted that ""This has never happened before"".
John and another Gentlemen arrived a few days later to see what work was still not complete. John was argumentative with me and I felt he was disrespectful. As a business owner, he should have been accommodating and ashamed of this situation.
We had to agree to take a loss on a few of the punch list items that were not complete. Therefore, we now have to hire another company and will pay for some of these repairs a 2nd time.
If you value your time and your money, I would NOT hire this company.
I have a house and 2 rental properties all in Dupage County and I have used Annie's Handyman Service 5 or 6 on small projects and, most recently a big project of 24 new windows at my house. I could not be more pleased with the services they have provided. I've gotten same-day service, even on the little things that need to be done. If I leave them a message I always get a call-back within the hour, and the work they have done is impeccable. All this AND I have never seen such reasonable prices. I cannot reccommend them enough. Hire them immediately, you will not regret it.
