Really enjoyed working with Andy. He actually didn't even charge me for coming out to take a look at my plumbing problem. I had flooding, but he couldn't see a cause, so he gave me some suggestions on how/why to proceed, even went back to check again - but still didn't see anything that he would need to rip apart and fix. Andy did a great job putting in a gas line from my garage to my upstairs laundry room for my new gas dryer. He was done in less than 2 hours! Prior to getting his estimate I got one from roto-rooter - Andy's was 1/3rd the cost!

He was a delightful person and looking back I wish I would have baked him cookies or something!

By chance Andy happened to be in the area when I called and came by within the hour. Did the diagnostic on our leaky shower drain and was able to start work right away; which was extremely convenient. Completed work in a short timeframe and did a great job. He also very happily answered my questions about some other plumbing issues / concerns in our newly occupied home. I will definitely call Andy next time we need a plumber!

I called Andy yesterday and asked him to come today to fix problem that my parents had. He promised to be at my parents' place around 4 PM but called around noon and said he can be there in 45 minutes. He showed up, evaluated the problem, and gave me price quote for two options to fix the issue. Upon completion of the job, he took my Amex over the phone, and I received email receipt with image of work description. Below are the pros and cons for using Andy's service:

I've certainly had my fair share of ""service"" helpful referral companies of which I've only had one good experience so no more of that I go right to DEX or YELP and guess what I find ? Andy !
I had a leak under a rental home that did not smell very good as I was told by the occupants. Well, I swung by late that night to see if we could fix it and realized this was not a job for rookies. Old cast iron with a crack and leaking. Soon as we got home we researched looking for a Plumber. Andy's reviews were great so we gave him a call that next morning. Within 2 hours he was on site. Gave us recommendations on how to clean up the site before he could work and said he'd be back when it was cleaned up and safe to work in. He stayed in contact with the clean up crew and immediately upon their completion he crawled back under (very tight space) sent us some pictures via text, an estimate of the cost (very reasonable) and did the work. From the time we were notified of the leak, researched a plumber, had a company clean up the sewage, and ultimately Andy fix the leak we were under 24 hours. Unbelievable !!
We would and will continue to recommend Andy for any of our plumbing needs.

Just wanted to take a moment to add another enthusiastically positive review for Andy Jahn. When Grandma's water line sprang an underground leak we weren't sure just who to call. After reading the reviews for a number of different contractors here on Yelp, we decided to give Andy a call due to the genuinely positive things people had to say about him. It was getting a bit late so I emailed him rather than calling and Andy emailed right back and we made arrangements for him to come out the next day. Long story short, a couple of days later Grandma had a completely new water line from the meter to the house. Andy was very prompt and professional and he made things as painless as possible - plus his prices were quite reasonable and he was very up front about what issues might cause costs to exceed the estimate (for example if the inlet pipe for the house turned out to be in a different location than originally suspected). In our case everything went exactly according to the estimate. The bottom line here is that Andy is a good guy and a family man who is working hard to make an honest living by helping people resolve their plumbing related issues. If you need some plumbing work done, then give him a call, I expect he will take very good care of you as well.

Situation: I've had a slow leak that comes and goes for a few months but it was getting consistent and getting worse over a three week period. I got a recommendation from Service Magic and had another plumbing outfit come and take a look, provide a diagnosis, and give me an estimate. After spending 15 minutes, and without providing possible root causes, the recommendation was to change out my entire shower unit for $3,000. I don't know a lick about plumbing but I know replacing an entire shower unit to fix a leak is not the first course of action.

Remedy: After a few more days agonizing on what to do since my sour experience confirmed what most of us believe about plumbing ""professionals"" I figured I'd turn to Yelp where real people give real ratings. I saw a few reviews and decided on Andy since he had a flawless rating although I was suspect since he only had a few raters. I believe in giving the little guy a chance. Andy came to my house on short notice and was very flexible in the time. Andy spent about 30 minutes doing a thorough investigation. He was knowledgeable and answered all my questions. At the end of the day, we couldn't confirm what was causing the leak without opening up a wall or floor (so we thought) and Andy recommended changing the valve cartridge as a start and provided a quoted. He even walked me through how to do it myself and where I could find the parts.

A couple of days later I took a shot at it and after about 10 minutes in, I just realized that I did not have the tools to do this job efficiently and effectively. I gave Andy a call and we set up some time. He came out, showed me his pricing sheet (he doesn't make up his quotes) and it was the same as what he said before, I agreed, signed the sales slip and he started the work. He had to run to the store since the parts he had did not match (older home) and did not charge anything extra. He walked me through every step and again answered all of my questions so that I could learn what he was doing. Andy tested everything and the job was completed in about 2 hours. (Note, that the work he performed was based on his experience as to what the problem could have been and not necessarily what was since I did not want to open up any walls or floors.) Great...I thought.

About an hour later, my roommate jumps into the shower and I hear this dripping sound. Obviously I wasn't sure and it made me have doubts. I gave Andy a call and he was over in about 20 minutes at dinner time. He opened everything again did a double check and he felt everything was good to go. Andy however was not yet satisfied. We talked about opening up the shower to be able to see the root cause but he stopped me because he wanted to see my other bathroom (it shared a wall). Through his diligence, Andy discovered an access way between both bathrooms. He was able to get back there, find the root cause, and made the appropriate adjustments. We ran the water; hot, cold, shower, faucet and everything worked without a drip. Andy made further recommendations on some work that could be done said nothing was urgent.

At the end of the day, a good honest plumber is tough to find. But I'm glad Andy is one of them. He wants to help you and not just make a quick buck. Not only did he do some work, but he found a long time customer. When I'm ready for those other projects he mentioned, he's first on my list to call.

Btw, he keeps the crack to himself. :)
