I've been a customer with American Plumbing for years and years and I've never been disappointed in any of my purchases. My first experience was with an old bath tub faucet that wouldn't budge when I tried to remove the old stems and Dave and his son, who was just a kid, came to my house and fixed it for me, wow, where can you find that kind of service? Over the years they have given me instructions and helped with numerous plumbing projects and have found the perfect part that you couldn't find anywhere else. I just hope people will hear about this jewel located on east side of Des Moines and buy all their plumbing needs from American Plumbing"". Excellent in every way!

Dying breed. Lost art. One of Des Moines' best businesses. I'm SO OLD -- I remember when David was the ""kid"" working for his father. (We're about the same age!) He has a lifetime of knowledge and experience. Some people say, in Des Moines, if Miller's Hdwe doesn't have it, no one does. Well, American Plumbing has come through for me more than once when I stumped Miller. (Not taking anything away from Miller's, another Des Moines treasure.) I just hope the over-zealous Millennial development gobbling up every inch of Real Estate in ""the Village"" doesn't run Amer Plumbing out ... at least until I'm dead!!!

This place is a hidden resource for the Des Moines area as it houses all kinds of plumbing fixtures and supplies. One of the surviving family businesses in the growing East Village redevelopment of shops, restaurants, bars, and boutiques. If you need a replacement plumbing part call this classic storefront as it holds or can readily order hard to find part instead of exercising at the big big box hardware stores. I was in need of a toilet tank cover that conveniently fell to the hard tile floor during those great cleaning sessions, expensive day of toilet work but the owner of this store had my part in stock and now I'm back in business, haha.
