I found this company unreliable to use for work, and am not even using their estimate for one of the three estimates we are getting to remedy the situation. The plumber from this company was incomplete in his assessment of the problem, superficial in his estimate of what it would take to repair the problem and did not appear to understand my concerns or questions about his thoughts or approach.

Do not ever use them again. That's what I wrote in my book. Their plumber was assigned through AHS. I trusted that he knows what he was doing. Big mistake. My problem was that hot water was coming out the cold water faucets in one of my bathrooms. The serviceman looked at it and said, the problem is the hot water circulation pump. He does only faucets. I asked him what can be wrong with the pump but he didn't bother to explain it. He just disconnected the pump and walked away. I had to get another plumber at additional cost. The 2nd plumber diagnosed the problem right away as bad part in the hot/cold water mechanism in one of the bathroom faucets. He promptly replaced the bad part and the problem went away .
American Plumbing and Drain plumber misdiagnosed the problem. He either didn't know what he was doing or he just didn't want to fix it.

I should have listened to one of the earlier reviews:

DO NOT USE THEM!!!

Whenever I have a problem, I call this guy. You can expect an honest diagnosis and fair prices. He has come twice, assessed and didn't charge for a call or anything. (It was out of his scope--he can give references for other specialists). I've used him several times and he's always polite and professional. I like talking with him because he is intelligent and knows his stuff, and the repairs he suggests make sense. He explains how the plumbing and repair works in an understandable way. And did I say he has fair prices? He knows what repeat business means. If I have a problem, he's our guy. He knows us by now!

We had a leak from a shower faucet and called our home warranty company (American Home Shield) and we were assigned American Plumbing & Drain. They came out to repair quickly on Memorial Day holiday as well. Service was good and appreciated the text communications as well.

In short, American Plumbing & Drain is an unethical business.

Like a few other customers, I was assigned to use American Plumbing & Drain because of my home warranty company (American Home Shield). The first time American Plumbing & Drain came out was to replace a broken water heater. The company replaced my water heater, but did upcharge me quite a bit for ""extra fees not covered by the home warranty"", which resulted in a total cost that is the same as not using home warranty.

This year, we had a broken drainage pipe from our kitchen that needed to be urgently replaced. Mario from American Plumbing & Drain arrived Friday 3pm, very disgruntled that he had to come out on a Friday afternoon. He tried to skirt out of doing any work on a Friday afternoon by claiming that he is a plumber that specializes in *gas* lines and not water lines. He gave us a piece of paper with the diagnosis ""no gaz leak"" and made no comments on the water line (see uploaded photo). Of course there is ""no gaz leak"" -- we never asked anyone to come for a gas issue. He ended the short appointment by saying, ""I would not even have to be here if I knew this was not a gas issue!""

Mario knows that he would not be paid by American Home Shield if he claims that he was sent out for a gas problem when there was no gas problem. Therefore, he submitted a completely different report to American Home Shield stating that he assessed our water line and it needs a clean-out, which was still the wrong diagnosis and recommendation. We ended up using a credible plumber who noticed the pipe was actually broken and needed to be replaced; a clean-out would have only made things worse.

I spoke to Mario why he gave different reports to me vs. the home warranty company, and he said, ""My client is American Home Shield. I answer to them, not to you.""

Mario clearly was unhappy to be called for a job on a Friday, came to the appointment finding excuses to not do any work, and then lied about the work he did in order to be paid. This unethical business practice is disturbing on so many levels...there should be an impeachment process for American Plumbing & Drain.

Tip for American Home Shield users: You are allowed to request another plumbing company within the network. Ask to be assigned to another plumbing company or just cancel the home warranty entirely. Vendors not contracted through home warranty companies are ethical, efficient, and provides good customer service.

Tip for anyone looking for a plumber: Stay away from this unethical company.

Mario was wonderful! Our water heater unit leaked Wednesday evening. We went through AHS so it took a day for the paperwork to go through. Once AHS approved, Mario was in and out within two hours.

I would not recommend them. They were assigned through AHS so we had little choice in the matter. The serviceman (Mario?) arrived with an attitude to begin with...curt and somewhat rude. He told us pretty much point blank that probably will not pay for it since it was part of a water filtration system. After several back and forth's with AHS and AP&D, I personally called Mario to see if just the faucet needed to be replaced and not the entire system. He refused to listen to me, was rude, constantly interrupted and cursed several times during the conversation... even when I tried to proposed for him to just come out, replace the faucet and we will deal with AHS. In the end, he hung up on me.

I get it...he was as frustrated with the situation as I was...but to be as rude as he was and to not be wiling to even consider hearing me out is unacceptable.

DO NOT USE THEM!!!

I got stuck with these guys by my home warranty provider to fix a leaking hot water heater. For more than 2 months I got stories about back ordered parts from Japan and promises to keep me updated. Finally, they told me they were going on vacation and to just call my home warranty provider to get someone new. Wish I had done that much sooner! Will never use these guys again and recommend others avoid them also.

Mario replaced my hot water heater and brought it up to code. This was American Home Shield warranty work. I was very happy with the experience. Mario scheduled my work for the following day and when he arrived he did efficient work and made it all function. I also found him very personable.
