like the other reviews this company was selected for me by my home warranty company. my water heater went out on a friday. on saturday a guy named jonny called me and said it would be a waste of time for him to come out and look at the water heater just to tell me i need a new one. could i just send him some pictures and he would take of the rest. so i did. the shut off valve to my heater was bad so i had to turn off the main water shut off to my entire house. on sunday i called jonny to see what was going on and find out when he would be coming to replace my heater as i would need to take off work to be there. he told me tuesday, which was also confirmed by my warranty company. so i took off work tuesday and was told someone would be here between 8 and 12. at 11 he texted me and said the job he was on is taking longer than expected, be there closer to 12. i said fine. at 2 i get a text asking if he could reschedule for wednesday or thursday. i said no, it needs to be done today. another hour goes by and nothing. finally at three i contacted him and said i have to go by my brother, you better be here in the morning. so now i have to take off work for a second day and it's been 5 days with no water in my house. i have to keep taking empty jugs to family and friends to fill up so i have water to flush my toilet, wash up with, and fill my dog's water bowl. finally on wednesday a guy named nate shows up and does the required work. no apologies for nobody showing up on tuesday, no mention of any type of compensation for my inconvenience and having to miss 2 days of work. quite the opposit. i was charged $50 to haul away the old water heater and another $135 to replace the broken shut off valve. my advice......if you ever file a claim with your home warranty and they set you up with ""the american plumber"", ask for a different company. this one is a joke.
Neal did a wonderful job diagnosing our sewer and leaking issues. Thanks to him and his techs, we don't have repeated problems and have to call in incompetent plumbers for quick fixes anymore
Needed an emergency clean out of sewer line. They charged an arm and a leg and in the end it didn't even work. The entire time this joker, Neil, kept telling me how amazing he is and everyone else is bad. Had his girlfriend with him who didn't lift a finger and charged me for two people being there. Awful.
If I could give 0 stars I would... This company was scheduled to do our reconnect of our kitchen and bathrooms. We were told that our reconnect couldn't happen until June 30th. Our countertops were going in on June 16th. We called American Plumber and talked with a gentleman some time in May. We were told to call when the countertops were finished. So we did and the lady that answered didn't have any clue what we were talking about, that we were scheduled on June 30th. We talked with a Neil and he got us in for June 17th. Long story short, we were told that he was going to call back on June 16th and we never heard back. We called and left messages and nothing. We sent text messages and it seemed like they disappeared. This has been by far the worst service I've ever experienced. Thankfully we found someone to come out and take care of the job that American Plumber couldn't do (mind you we had already paid for them to come and reconnect) I would hope that Lowe's will rethink about using this Plumbing company in future projects
They replaced a water heater for me. Very professional. Could not ask for better. They removed the old one, installed the new. Did a great job, I was impressed. I am not sure what the other reviews on here are about, but I was blown away with there abilities, professionalism, and communicating to me what was happening and how it would go. The whole thing took about 2 hours from start to finish and I was back in hot water. Thanks guys for a great job. Will be using you in the future.
We called in a claim to our home warranty company about our tub leaking into our floor and were paired up with this contractor. They came out to look at our bathroom on a Tuesday and they didn't have the parts to fix the tub and we arranged an appointment time window for the Wednesday of the following week to have the work done. I paid them $ 100 bucks deductible that is required at the time of arrival. They would call an hour ahead of arrival ( guessing it would be around 3pm ). No call. I waited until after 4PM to call to see what their ETA would be. A lethargic person answered the phone and said he would call the van to see when then would arrive. I hung up and waited about ten minutes for the call back then attempted to get through on the phone. No one picked up. I tried a few more times and figured no one was going to answer.
I called on Friday to see what happened and the same lethargic person told me there was a note to reschedule. I said no one informed me that they weren't going to be there. He blamed a secretary. The only person I have spoken to on the phone there is lethargic lad. No secretary. He said we would reschedule for the next Wednesday same time, same call ahead by an hour.
I received a call at about 4:30 pm saying they needed to reschedule and made an appointment for Friday at the same time.Guess what? No call, no show.
It has now been three weeks since the initial appointment were these guys gladly took $100 bucks for doing nothing. I know that's not a lot of money in the plumbing world, but it's my hard earned cash that they took. Our bathtub still leaks and we are seeking professionals outside of the warranty to fix the tub. We really can't trust the contractors they supply to get a simple job done in a timely fashion.
Unprofessional. You see, we may only have a warranty for the first year of our new home, but I imagine we will give all of our business to someone other than these clowns moving forward.
Avoid at a
They called a week later, left a message to reschedule for the following week. We ignored them because we already had a professional come in and fix the problem. If we had scheduled for the next week it would have taken them six weeks to actually fix a simple problem. Ridiculous.
The American Plumber LLC (Milwaukee, WI: 414-529-6980) Be careful: Father/Son operation. The father is technically good, but leaves his jobs unfinished. He is not clear about quoting and agrees on a price. Then his son claims the price agreed does not cover the work and leaves the work unfinished and all the debris and garbage laying around. Both father and son can become abusive via text message when you ask them to complete the job. In my house, they left two open holes in two outdoor basement walls, leaving them exposed to water, weather and rodents. Think it twice before contracting and read other reviews. There is a pattern with these guys.
Michelle E.Similar experience to the reviewers prior - We were connected with this company through our home warranty when our water heater was not working. In the short time dealing with American Plumber we experienced, a no show appointment which I took off of work to be home for, a number of non returned calls and voicemails, a number of promises that he would ""call right back"" with no follow up call. The customer service from this company is awful. We had no hot water for about a week with a baby at home. The whole experience was stressful. Go somewhere else!
Daniel C.The American Plumber was referred to me by our home warranty company. We had a leak in the ceiling of a rental property causing damage to the dry wall and a continuous leak, my tenants had to put a bucket on their table. They are extremely unreliable and their customer service is inexistent. He made an appointment to be there at 8 am and never showed or called. We had to call him and he said he was busy and will get there when he can. Keep in mind my tenants have to rearrange work schedules to let this guy in the house. A few days later he finally made it to the house but never called to tell me what repair needed to happen and when he could do it. I once again had to play phone tag to get an answer from him. Each time I did get ahold of him he told me to call the next Monday so he can get us on the schedule. We wait five days to call him and he has nothing available until next week and to call back next Monday...... Three weeks later we finally have a date for him to fix it, Monday at noon. Right around 4 pm that day, no call no show, I get ahold of him and he was too busy to fix the leak and not sure when he can get over there.
I couldn't even get a simple phone call out of this guy letting me know what's going on. The customer service is absolutely horrible. Go somewhere else.

I came to be know of this company as they were assigned to us by our home warranty company (HMS National) as our refrigerator stopped working a week ago. Spoke with Nate on Friday afternoon, made an appointment for him to come to the house the following Wednesday morning between 9:30am-10:30am. My mother-in-law waited for him; he never showed. Called Nate to follow-up who stated someone would be by around later that day around 5pm. No one ever showed; called Nate for an update @ 6pm. Nate said he would call the guy for an update. Never got a follow-up call, no one ever showed. Tried calling Nate at 6:30pm; he never picked up/left a voicemail. It's now Thursday and no follow-up whatsoever from Nate at American Plumber.
According to Clark Howard (www.clark.com), home warranties aren't worth the paper they're written on. The companies are notoriously difficult to deal with; this scenario is no exception. The contractors that usually work with home warranty companies generally don't have enough work, hence they agree to take these jobs receiving below-market reimbursement and consequently their customer service absolutely sucks if it exists at all! In my experience, top-rated service contractors generally refuse to work with home warranty companies. That should be a red flag to all...
