I am very disappointed the customer service of this company. I have attempted to contact their quality team twice through email in response to their survey after the job was complete.

For starters, the technician was on time, explained what his repairs would be throughly, professional, and made sure he did not track dirt in the house. I have zero complaints about the tech that came out. His name was Robin.

I needed to have some pipes replaced in my laundry room and the tech made an honest mistake and did not cut the water off all the way. One of the pipes broke in the process of him working on it which led to my hallway partially flooding and getting water underneath my new flooring on both sides of the hallway. When he was done there was still a leak on the pipe that I had asked to be replaced from the start. He said he did not think there was an issue with that pipe. He turned the water back on and decided he would come back another day to repair. He left and I called the office. The office did not call me back. I had to call them two times throughout the day to get a hold of someone. Then they said they would send the plumbing manger and the sales rep out to look at the floors and the pipes. That did not happen they sent the HVAC manager who took a look at stuff but it ended with ""just run some fans on the floors.""

They also promised me that I would get a receipt emailed to me that noted the floors in case an issue arose in the near future with them. I have yet to receive that email. Furthermore they offer me the ""membership"" to offer me something but it really only took 15 dollars off my total cost. At this point I was over it and wanted the job completed.

Job completed no leaks or issues the second time around. Then I go in my bathroom on the other side of the wall from the repairs and there are holes and drywall damage from the saw which was used to cut the pipe. Which left a mess on the floor as well. Nobody told me or warned me about this.

I hate writing reviews like this when I feel like I have given them the opportunity to correct the mistake. I sent them emails in response to their quality survey sent after the job was complete. I included pictures in the second email that was sent to them.

This is my 2nd time in less than a year I have had to call American Mechanical and just like the first time, they sent someone to my home within 30mins of calling them. Phil came out and assessed the leak in my attic and just like that fixed it! I love this company and they have come through everytime. Their technicians are professional and take the time to explain the repair process. I will continue to use them and would definitely recommend them to anyone who wants fast curtious and professional service.

I had Ed at my house today for a leaking pipe. He found the problem very quickly and had it fixed within 30 minutes. He also gave me an estimate for a new shower/bath faucet. He was extremely thorough and very knowledgeable! Most importantly he was SO NICE! The price was GREAT! Very affordable and the work done so well! I highly recommend American Mechanical! Thank you Ed and thank you American Mechanical!!

Just had my 3 year old heat pump removed and replaced with a 15 SEER Trane gas heat and electrical AC unit. Took them two entire days to remove the old system and put in the new one. They explained in detail every part of the installation process and how to set up the thermostat to our needs. Cleaned up their work area daily too. Had 4 techs working today and it was amazing how they coordinated amongst themselves.
Glad we selected them as our HVAC guys.

Here it is, 9 months later and what a difference not only the cost but how quiet and how efficient the unit is. And no call backs what so ever. I didn't even realize that the heating system had been turned on.

I have i instillation set up for next week but so far everything has been amazing and professional; I super appreciate the loaner AC unit to keep my house cool while waiting for instillation to occur.

Mr. Hayes was such a breath of fresh air, he took the time to explain everything to me and was very kind....thank you.

do not use!!! buyer beware!! they do a terrible job and then charge you for stuff you do not need. we hired them for a/c unit and have to get everything redone by a different company... all their positive reviews are false. we were extremely unhappy with their service and managers never return calls to remedy the situation. go elsewhere!!!

Had a water heater leak. Called American Mechanical in Virginia Beach for help. It was $250 for them just to come out. I knew where the leak was on the heater, the thermal expansion tank had a hole. The tech said it would be another $500 for him to fix it. The tank costs $40 at Home Depot. I told him he must be kidding. A total of over $750 just to replace an expansion tank. He said that is their price. I had to pay the $250 but refused to give him another dime and sent him packing. At that price, I could have bought a new water heater. Next day I went to Home Depot, paid $40 for the part, and put it on myself. These guys are crooks!

I have had a service contract with American mechanical for several years. I was happy with their service until yesterday. I have a home in Virginia Beach where I live part time. I needed to schedule my seasonal maintenance while I was here and before the weather got hot.

I called and was able to get a ""window"" of time for the next day, Wednesday 8-12. When I was making the appointment I asked if the technician could install a ""Nest"" thermostat. The scheduler initially told me they needed approval from my condo management firm, I told her we were the owners and did NOT need prior approval. While I was on hold as she investigated that issue I heard all the recordings about the services they can provide. After a lengthy wait on hold the manager, John, came on the phone to inquire about the thermostat. He asked me if I already had it and I told him I did not but would have it when the tech arrived.

He proceeded to tell me the Nest was not a good item and that they install a lot of them only to come back and replace one year later. I asked for his recommendation and he mentioned a ""Trane"". I asked him how much that would be and he said he did not know off the top of his head, but ""about $400"" and it would be much better than the Nest. I told him that since he was the expert I would need to trust him to recommend the ideal item for my purposes. He said absolutely I could trust him. I also asked him about getting my dryer vent cleaned out while he was here along with the thermostat and maintenance. He said sure for an additional $150. I asked for a discount and he dropped it to $100. I was then transferred back to the scheduler. When she started to schedule, I asked again just how much the thermostat would be, she asked someone, and told me it would be the quoted price of $400. I was under the impression, he did not know how much they were cause there are so many and needed to find out.

The next day I waited until 11:30 to receive a call from the technician that he was about 30 min away, but was headed my way. He arrived about 12:30 ( my window was 8-12). He brought in all of his machines to clean the dryer and began to clean the vent. I had purchased the tin dryer hose to replace the worn plastic type which he did do. It was about 3:00 by now and he started to install the thermostat. He put in a Honeywell T-6 Pro. He left me to set it up once it was installed. ( no directions were included). He went on to do the maintenance. Once he finished with the maintenance , he looked at the water heater. Afterwards he wanted me to pay and sign the paperwork. I asked him if he would replace the filters for me and was upset he had to go back down and get his ladder. When he gave me my total, he said it was $689! I freaked, they were charging me for ANOTHER service contract before my old one was used! After more phone calls it was resolved and I was billed $500. When he left now 4:30, it was 75 degrees in my house. I set the thermostat at 70 and waited 18 hours for it to cool and it was STILL 75 degrees in my house while the unit worked the whole time.

I called back to schedule another service call to which I was told I had to wait until one was available. There was another tech who could come, but he couldn't come until he was finished where he was. I I was transferred once again to John and I asked him about the thermostat. I told him that I saw the exact same unit on Amazon for $79.95. He said uh huh! I asked him if they charge $320 for installation and he said""YES""! I repeated the question and he once again said yes and kinda laughed! I could not believe how I was treated! I said ""ok, lesson learned"". I waited until after noon and phoned again. I was told they could NOT give me a time, but ""as soon as his bubble turns white, I will have him call you""!
Scott arrived and within minutes determined that BOTH the heat and air were running simultaneously! How is that possible?? He had it repaired and blowing cold air for the first time since the Hvac was replaced 5 years ago! Upon doing my overdo research, I found ""Nest"" is the number one rated thermostat, Trane is #6 and Honeywell is #7.

Why do men think it is OK to take advantage of women and then laugh at them? Oh by the way, I felt bad for Joe working through his lunch I gave him an additional $10 in cash to buy lunch. Shame on me.

I am going to rethink my HVAC/electrical/plumbing services with American Mechanical long and hard. I want to see some resolution.

Update, after working with their customer advocate, I am happy to say they made the situation right! I was pleased with the resolution to my concerns.

Thank you!
