City of San Antonio sent me a notification of very high water usage. I check all the toilets, spikets, isolated the irrigation and my meter was still running when I shut the water off! I was referred by my plumber who couldn't find it. He said he didn't have the computerized equipment to check under the slab. I made an appointment it was fast and informative. Just in a couple of days I had my tech Carlos was on time and on point. Found my leak and gave me repair quotes 2 thumps up

First, let me say that the technician, Xavier, was great and seemed very knowledgeable. The problem was with billing and the front office. I had a very minor leak as reported by my Austin water smart meter. I was told by another company that such a leak would be extremely difficult to find and that I would need the services of a company like American Leak Detection of San Antonio. When I called ALD, I was told that they find most leaks within the first hour and a half, but it can sometimes take longer. I was also told that ALD charges a rate of $525 for the first hour and a half of detection with a standard rate for additional hours.

I had checked my meter box and noticed that there was moisture and a little standing water under the meter. When I directed Xavier to the meter box after he arrived, he discovered that the problem was a root ball wrapped around a pipe. He removed the root ball, and water began to gush forth. No fancy equipment needed; no tiny leak. I had Xavier fix the leak, which was the standard price of $800.

My issue is that when I asked for a discount because the leak took little time to locate, and I was the one who showed it to the technician, I was told that all of the special equipment (which to my knowledge was not used) and special knowledge needed to operate the equipment meant that they could not offer a lower price. In effect, I paid $525 for approximately 5-10 minutes of work by my guess.

Buyer beware.

His company is very busy this time of year, but he was out to see us within 48 hours of our non-emergent request.

American Leak Detection came recommended by several coworkers. I had a leak I couldn't find and they found it in less than an hour. My house was difficult because it's on a hill and large so it has a lot of pipe. I was very pleased with the outcome and they dug to make sure the leak was where they thought it was before they left. I'm just glad it wasn't under my slab!

Both employees were awesome and very friendly. They didn't mind me asking questions and were very enthusiastic and explained the entire process to me. They aren't cheap but I was happy to have the leak found.

We were forced to use these people by Texas farm bureau. They refused to share a copy of their findings. When we were forced to use them to replace a valve in our home they damaged the plumbing system and caused a reduction in pressure of 25 psi. It has been over a month and they have not even attempted to rectify it. They are also causing the possibility of TOXIC mold in our home by not being honest all because Texas Farm Bureau is pulling their strings. As a Master Plumber myself, this is the most unethical company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with.

I called American Leak Detection when I discovered my pool was losing water. They found the leak and I decided to have them do the repair. They estimated $2500-3000 based on not knowing exactly what would be required because the leak was determined to be underneath the flagstone pool deck. Two technicians came out and performed the repair in just under 2 hours. I have no complaints about the work done (so far so good) but I was charged $2550 ($2500 labor, $50 for materials) for the repair which I believe is unreasonable for the amount of work required to fix it. Maybe I'm off base and $600+/hour is a fair labor rate for pool repair but I feel a little taken advantage of.
