American Leak Detection
Company Overview
American Leak Detection offers top-notch leak detection services throughout East Tennessee. We detect concealed plumbing leaks in numerous settings. Our team will track down hard-to-find leaks in buried plumbing for residential and homes and businesses. We locate swimming pool leaks and spas, including the origin of sewer odors. Once we identify the concealed leaks, we indicate their positions at the surface. Leaks can be hidden under concrete, asphalt areas, or driveways, or pool decks...we can still find them using our specialized equipment and AWWA M-36 Standard techniques. We have expanded our leak detection services to include the detection of leaks in water utilities which deliver clean water.
Founded by Mr. Rennick in the mid-1970s in Palm Springs, California, the company became a franchisor in 1984, and in 2010, it recorded sales of $60 million each year.
The founder Richard B. Rennick was brought up in a plumbing environment. He assisted in locating water leaks in pipes hidden beneath concrete using a 6-pound maul and chisel. This was a tedious task and created a mess for homeowners. He realized that improvements were necessary.
Mr. Rennick decided to collaborate with an expert to develop technology to detect hidden leaks. Following numerous tests, they engineered sensitive electronic devices featuring small microprocessors. From this foundation, the field of electronic leak detection was established.
Our research and development team at American Leak Detection has been instrumental in the development of technology to locate hidden leaks.
Jeff and Trina took over the East Tennessee franchise in 2004. They focus on customer satisfaction and aim to provide the highest quality, precise, and friendly services possible. Jeff actively works and leak detection specialist who has a degree in Mine Engineering and expertise in industrial hygiene.

They came to detect a pool leak. They failed twice to find the leak which they charged $675 to do. I called out Volunteer Leak Detection and they found the leak right away! A very large leak! And repaired the leak too. American leak detection only ""finds"" the leak -they will not repair it!!! Call Volunteer Leak Detection - one stop shop!

All their ads report leak detection in irrigation systems , but when I called I was told they.ony check for leaks between the backflow and the meter. That is not leak detection for irrigation systems. The system is after the backflow not before. You should take your misleading ads down. ALD was recommended by Waterworks Itrigation who had installed our system but told us it would take too many man hours to find the leak in a system they installef.

I have used ALD in the past and they have found a small leak in my pool and have been able to patch it with an epoxy. After opening my pool this year, it appeared there may be a bigger leak involved. ALD (Mr. Deel and Thomas) came and went over our pool thoroughly and competently. Thank the Lord there were no new leaks! It was in the same area we always have the leak. Mr. Deel was determined to get it patched ""permanently"" this time and used something called a Frankenplug. As I am writing this, it has been a few hours short of 4 days and we are holding water perfectly! Normally by this time, we would have lost 4 to 6 inches of water! I can't say enough about Mr. Deel and Thomas and their dogged determination to get my pool fixed. It took them several hours but the outcome thus far has been much worth it! Thank you ALD, Mr. Deel and Thomas for your concern and hard work!

Was recommended to use this company for a pinhole leak that was a minor inconvenience (about an extra $10 a month on our water bill) but we noticed the meter running, so we wanted to get to the root of it. They came out and even though they advertise ""non-invasive"" and ""non-destructive"" methods on their website, they actually cut a hole in my wall and drilled through concrete in my bathroom. Not only that, but the tech hit the line and caused a pinhole leak to become an emergency repair, which they are unwilling to take responsibility for. The manager told me that ""they found the leak, didn't they?"" and that it was my responsibility to pay for the damage done. Destruction of property is just an added bonus, it seems.

We have a leak underground between our home and the water meter. We were quoted OVER THE PHONE ""about"" 400-500 for leak detection, ""it depends on the length of the line"". Tech that came out never gave a quote before the service. He checked 100 ft (of the 400ft line) and when asked to check the rest of the line, we were assured that the ONE leak he found ""was the correct leak for the amount of water we were losing"". Charged us $410 and left. We repaired the leak only to find we were STILL LEAKING AT THE SAME RATE WE WERE BEFORE! Called back and was told they can only find ""one leak at a time""and that it would be 175$/hour plus a $60 travel charge to have them come back to finish the job they should have already done! ABSOLUTE AND COMPLETE RIP OFF! Their statement of ""upfront and accurate pricing"" on their website is a complete and total lie as was their statement to find the leak(s) in our line.

I was trying to get help with our water leak. The woman who returned my call was VERY rude. She was very annoyed that I didn't know where exactly the leak was, uuummm excuse me, I thought that's what these folks do. She was very short with me and obviously wanted me off the phone so she abruptly told me her fee to come out $300-$350. Well, that's a price I would've expected and don't mind paying but I wouldn't give my money to this nasty woman for anything! There are several other complaints about the same woman! Go figure. Go elsewhere, there are other companies that actually care about their customers.

Would not use them period. Referred to them by my local plumbing company to locate a leak in the yard. We had a good idea of the location due to an area remaining damp. I was hoping they could closer pinpoint the leak and save the plumbers time and us some money. Well, he never checked the damp area. Instead he spent the time checking near our barn, when we knew that was not the issue because we could valve that area off. He was puzzled that when we turned off our well pump, it also turned off the water in our barn. He could not figure that out, so after about checking no where near the leak and about 50 minutes after arriving he said it was too small to locate. Charged us $345 and was on his way. My guess is he is still trying to find his way back to the office.

Great experience with this company. It rained the day they were supposed to come and they emailed me with a new date. Technician showed up as promised and found and repaired the leaks in our pool. I highly recommend them

They are the best in the business! Unfortunately I have had several underground leaks but American Leak Detection came out and found the leak every time. They are courteous, professional and provide prompt service for a very reasonable fee.

I had a good experience with them. They came out promptly and in two hours diagnosed my problem. They have the necessary equipment and are very professional. I paid $400. A bit high but worth it to not be shooting in the dark and fixing the wrong problems. I would definitely hire them again. A
