Shout out to Rachel and John from American Leak Detection. Just before Christmas, Clackamas county turns off our water informing us we have a massive leak as our water usage has x1000 in the last couple of weeks. We called our local plumber who gave us 3 x company names for water leak detection. We called all 3 and left messages. Rachel from ALD calls back almost immediately and schedules John to arrive first thing next day. John shows up, gets to work and quickly finds the leak, then sticks around to assist the digging crew who excavate the soil and finds the damaged pipe. Christmas is saved!

We have water leaking in from the outside, and I have been unsuccessful in locating it by spraying water on the back of the house where the leak was occurring. These people came recommended, and I thought that maybe they could bring some techniques or insights that I did not have available to me as a home owner. So, I made an appointment.

Tyler comes out, immediately grabs my hose and spends two hours spraying my water on the back of my house. Literally, he does nothing that I haven't done myself. So much for bringing new insight to the problem. Shocker folks: he didn't find the leak! He very (very) briefly looked up in my attic to look at the roof immediately above where the water was coming in. He didn't even try to get to an adjacent area where I had had solar panels installed, and declared ""I don't think its likely to be coming from the roof"". How could he know, since he hadn't even examined penetrations in the roof made by solar panels?!

He found nothing, gave me nothing useful and brought nothing to the problem that I had not already tried. It would be funny, except that I paid for him $450 to do nothing. When I asked if I got a discount for him not finding the leak, he said ""That's not the way it works""... well, maybe it should. I know if I didn't produce at work, they wouldn't keep me around!

Bottom line, if you have an exterior leak, these guys will add nothing to solve your problem, and will guarantee nothing. If they are the experts they claim, then their work should come with a guarantee, right? As for me, I plan to tell everyone I know this story.

American leak detection were thorough, fair, and helpful in every way. Rachel listened with empathy and was able to schedule me quickly with Erick (it was an emergency).

Erick came out and was empathetic to the fact that I was working remotely. He did the John thoroughly and efficiently. The price was fair and he had a referral if need be.

I was emailed and followed up with in a professional and organized manner.

I highly recommend this company to anyone. Being a first time home buyer is stressful, but knowing American Leak Detection is on my side makes it a lot easier.

Excellent service !! I called late Monday night after the city came to my house and told me a had a high water bill. I talked to manager after hours who explained to me what I should do in the mean time until a technician could get to my house . Then I was followed up by a phone call from a lady in the office letting me know my technician was in route.

Grant arrived , worked fast and was very courteous . They even found the leak in the rain !

Peter came out and Misdiagnosed my leak ,
sided with my insurance company to see that my claim was rejected.
I had brick by brick waterproofing come out to properly diagnose the issue

American Leak Detection was recommended to me by Cascade Pool and Spa for a slow leak in my in ground pool. The service is not cheap ($400 for two hours) but the technician tested everything including getting into the water, pointed out problems in the pool house and wrote a very detailed and thorough report that I can use to get repairs done. I am very satisfied with the service I received.
