American Leak detection (West Central Ga),came out to find a small leak in my water service line outside my home. It was a small leak but he didn't give up. Found and marked the leak. Very professional and personable as well. He also installed a water line with a hose bib outside for watering plants etc. Very Fair price and very pleasant family run company. definitely will use this company again! Our water bill jumped from a $40 a month average over the last six years to $125. A local plumber checked for leaks inside the house and fixed two very small leaks that wouldn't account for the increase. I called our water company to have the meter checked, and they said all their equipment was working correctly, but their checking indicated that we had a leak. I called a local leak-detection plumber who indicated that the leak was in our water main, which is about 800 feet long. They gave me an estimate of $6000 to replace the water main. They also said they could find the leak, but they would have to dig up the pipe every 100 feet and the cost would be $300 to check each segment of the line. I talked to a plumber friend who said that I should look for a company with infrared equipment, which brought me to American Leak Detection. Because of the length of my line, they assigned my job to West Central Georgia Leak Detection, about a 2 hour drive from my house, instead of a location only 11 miles away. They said that Johnny English and his crew were the best around. I received a $900 estimate including travel time and they came out, not finding the leak. They did not charge me because of their policy of not charging if they don't find the leak, but offered to come back with a specialized piece of equipment that was more expensive to use, a helium gas pump and sniffer combination. The estimate was $1200 for a crew of three, including the travel time, with the cost of the helium they used to be added. On this second trip, they almost immediately discovered that the problem was a defective water meter, which meant that the water company lied to me. American Leak Detection charged me $400 for the two trips, which seemed very fair to me, as they saved me from undertaking much more expensive repairs. They gave me a written report identifying the problem and promised to give the water company more details if needed. I'm still fighting with the water company, but it looks like things will be resolved. The West Central Georgia folks were outstanding - very professional, highly competent, and fair in their dealings. I recommend them highly.
