Our services cater to both residential and commercial needs. We are fully licensed and insured. We conduct yearly background checks on all staff.
As the first experts in leak detection, we have successfully located almost 5 million leaks since 1974, helping homeowners and businesses save billions on repairs and reducing water waste. All our technicians are extensively trained. We aim to find leaks using non-invasive, efficient, and environmentally friendly methods. We ensure that all customers receive quick, professional, and friendly service. We pride ourselves on providing top-notch leak detection services.
The American Leak Detection franchise was purchased by the Nagel family in July 2001. Steve trained for six weeks at the corporate office in Palm Springs, California. During this time, he completed an intensive training program that laid the foundation for his extensive skill set. Steve excels at unraveling complex problems. This, combined with our advanced technology and over twelve years of experience in leak detection, makes him a master in the field!
Steve resides in Palm Harbor, Florida with his wife, Jennie, and their young daughter, GG. Outside of work, he loves to spend time with his family and friends and enjoys golfing. A large portion of his workday involves driving across five counties to get to job sites. To pass the time, he listens to audiobooks. He is a fan of Ernest Hemingway and has heard all of his works.

Recommended Customer Reviews

I had a leaking pool. Staff was knowledgeable and courteous. Dan, the technician, was amazing! Highly recommend! He found and fixed the leaks in my pool in no time!

Water flooded underneath the kitchen counters, so I wasn't able to see where the leak was coming from. The technician inspected the kitchen and surrounding areas. Once the leakage was found, he dedicated how to fix it.

I was very skeptical of using a chain on something like this! My pool was loosing 2"""" of water a day. Troy was great to work with. He communicated extremely well from while in transit until the final wrap up. They off a 60 day warranty on there repairs. I highly recommend them.

Let me start off by giving them credit where it's due. The service was friendly and the confirmations on appointments are second to none. Now let me get into why this review is negative. Per their requisites, they specify that a pool must be clean clear, and full. Therein lies the problem if you are someone reporting a serious leak that needs to be detected and repaired. Granted in their typical cases (most of them, I am assuming based on the level of expertise described further), there may be small leaks like seals around skimmers and jets, etc. but if you have a leak that is substantially losing water, how are you supposed to fill a pool and keep it clear and clean?! We were told that they will not honor a re-visit to re-diagnose the pool if it's not clean, clear, and full. If they came out and it was not clean clear and full it would be an additional trip charge of $175.00 (now already invested $500.00 with no fix and the pool is still leaking badly). My wife and I desperate to stop the proverbial """"bleeding"""" found that the temporary fix that the service person installed on the FIRST trip actually exacerbated the problem causing the water to dump out of the purge (pool drain pipe) as fast as we were trying to fill it!! Once we removed the plug, the purge pipe stopped running. We then isolated the leak by identifying a jet that we noticed was spitting out small amounts of dirt and sand and plugged that jet with the plug (provided by the service person). The leaking has stopped and we resolved the issue on our own with a $5.00 PVC cap! Now out hundreds of dollars between the fruitless repair call and the wasted water, we will work on finding a service company to repair the jet line... and it will NOT - I repeat N O T be American Leak Detection. If my wife and I were able to """"detect the leak"""" and find a solid but temporary repair, we need a company that has more expertise in problem-solving than my wife and I that know nothing about pools. Feel free to be embarrassed ALD, because you SHOULD be! You are also free to contact me.

Great-Quick service! Smart Technician . Did a wonderful job! Showed up on time and fix leak quickly! Thank you ALD!!

Very professional organization, completely buttoned up. Outstanding communication. MJ was prompt, professional and found and fixed the leak within an hour. I highly recommend this company.

We had some wainscoting cracking in our home, before just having it fixed up we wanted to find the issue causing it. The main water pipe is on the same wall, so for peace of mind we called ALD to come out to make sure we did jot have a pipe leak. When Dave came out he immediately got moisture readings on his device. After testing our pipe there was absolutely no evidence of a leaking pipe. This was of course good news, but Dave did not stop there, he was determined to help find the culprit. After investigating different areas, he found that our window frame was the culprit, showed me exactly how and why! Now we can fix everything knowing the exact issue and we did not tear our walls apart doing so! For a mysterious possible home leak I can not recommend ALD enough!

Would not recommend this company for pool leak repair. I left town 2 days after the repair. I have a water level device that is used when I am away to maintain the pool water level. When I returned I turned the device off. After a couple of days I saw the pool was still losing water. I called American leak detection and was told out of warranty, if you want someone to come out you will be charged another full service charge.

I have used American Leak Detection on two occasions. They are an EXCELLENT provider. From appointment scheduling to arrive at your home they are the best. They provide specific times and a text tracking to inform you when their technician will arrive at your home. Their senior technician Michael has been at my residence both service calls and he is nothing short of OUTSTANDING! Very customer focused and keeps the customer informed as to what he is doing to remedy your situation. I have been extremely satisfied with their service.

I would avoid American Leak Detection Company and go with another company (I ended up with RedRhino). For starters, American Leak Detection told me they isolated the leak, charged me a lot of money to fix it, and when I told them the leak was still present in the pool, they said they were unable to locate it. After several contentious emails back and forth, they said they did not want to do business with me anymore. This was again after I was already charged for the problem to be """"fixed"""" and never was. I got RedRhino over and they found several leaks and came back 4 different times to make sure the pool was not leaking. The customer service was 10x better than American Leak so I will never work with this company again.
