Recommended Customer Reviews

Called due to a possible leak. Our technician was John M. and he quickly identified it not be a leak but instead pipes rubbing due to not being strapped down properly. He was very professional and informative on what our options were. The testing process is non invasive and I would definitely recommend them! POMPT, HONEST AND PROFESSIONAL!

I was going to cancel our service at this company due to the customer service representative, Michele, who is unprofessional and I agree with a previous reviewer that I don't think she likes her job very much. On two separate occasions, she has provided me with advice that is contrary to the advice of the leak detection specialist, Alfredo. Her emails are blunt. Speaking with her on the phone it's not pleasant. On the morning I was going to cancel, she called and notified me that Alfredo was actually on his way over to fix the pool skimmer. So rather than have to deal with an entirely new company and wait for estimate and then fixing, I just decided to go ahead and let Alfredo fix it. Alfredo was excellent and is the reason that this company is getting three stars instead of one. Another positive about this company was that they were $500 less than the number one yelper. So I would continue to recommend this company based on service, however I think they should transfer Michele or get her some customer service training.

I was looking for a leak detection company to find a leak caused by recent rains in a wall. The website indicated that they had infrared cameras that could detect rain related leaks in the wall. However, after calling 2 times (different numbers) I was told that they do not offer this service, The website is very misleading. Then, the second time I called, I was asked for my zipcode and directed to a North San Diego County location. The person who answered the call said he was on another line, and unless I had a quick question, he would have to call me back. He then said and I quote: ""I'm outta here in 6 minutes"". Well, that was enough for me to decide they were not interested in my business.

I was leery of using this company due to the inconsistent yelp reviews. However, after fighting a pool leak for a year now and another company repairing it but it lasting only 6 months I decided it was time to get a 2nd opinion. I contacted a different company first, thinking maybe our entire skimmer needed replaced. This guy came out and was certain the problem wasn't in the skimmer and that we should contact Alfredo at American Leak Detection because he was ""really good."" I knew that the service call fee was $300 which seemed a little steep to me but at this point I've been throwing good money after bad money, so it made sense to go to a true expert. Still hesitant but based on a solid referral from someone in the industry I gave them a call.
Alfredo was able to show up within a few days despite all the heavy rains. (it actually started raining again half way through the diagnosis but he kept working). After pressure testing all the different places (including our solar for the pool) he was able to narrow the problem down. The cool thing is that he narrowed it to the same place that the previous company had said the problem was occurring. Only this time he sealed it extremely well to the point that I feel confident this leak is finally fully fixed. Alfredo was not only knowledgeable but also very professional. So impressed that I have scheduled them to redo the deck-o-seal around the pool at $7 a linear foot.

After looking at the reviews already posted, I have to wonder about the negatives (perhaps competition?). These guys were fantastic! Slab leak, in the kitchen, left me without hot water for over a week. Original plumbers stated they would have to jackhammer the bathroom??? What? I called American Leak Protection, talked to Robert who had his plumber, Jody call me the same day. They were out on time with a phone call prior to arrival. After looking at everything it was determined that a repipe would be a better option. Gave me a quote, were out the following day and had it all fixed, with extra care in less that 3 hours. Courteous, friendly and cleaned up their mess. I will use them again for any future plumbing needs. I saw no beer cans!

Some guy showed up and charged me $250 for absolutely nothing. He says I have no leak. So, water goes back on and the leak continues. As I'm handing over my credit card I noticed empty beer cans in his vehicle. Some
service these guys offer, right?

Wow!! I submitted an online appointment request and shortly afterwards Robert called me. He asked me a couple of questions and then asked me to perform a couple of simple tests to identify if I indeed had a leak and if so the approximate location of it. He provided me full disclosure of their rates if they were to come out and do the same tests. He was knowledgeable, professional, helpful and honest. I had reached out to several other ""plumbing companies"" to no avail. I'm totally impressed so far...now that I know I do indeed have a leak and the approximate location, I hope they do repairs or can recommend a company that does.
Shout out to Michele also, who sent me an email after I had talked to Robert.

These guys knew what they were doing, They were on time and went above and beyond. Angel is friendly and professional. They found the leak and gave an estimate of 1800.00. When they came out and did the work they discovered it would be way less and completed the job for 1/2 the amount. Honest company. This was my mom's house and she is elderly. She was the only one home and they treated her fairly and did not overcharge. I recommend these guys highly and would refer my friends to this service.

We suspected a pool leak in the pipe last summer and called the American leak detection for diagnostic. We ended up paying the diagnostic fee of $300 ( which is reasonable market price) with a less than 30 mins under soil pipe repair that charged us $1000. We didn't realize we got JACKED UP until this time we hired another company to detect a leak in the pool skimmer and are told the previous fix should have only cost us $100-$200 as you just need to cut the cracked pipe out and reconnected with new one. Don't appreciate this dishonesty. Don't know if it's the service people who marked up the cost or the company.

I spoke with a woman briefly on the phone today who I have encountered several times over and every time I leave the conversation with a dissatisfying feeling. When the trail of our conversations started I was quoted a price and when actually going to book them I was quoted a higher price and I was still willing to work with the company. After today, I was told that I could have a one man team come out and fix my pool and if I could be willing to help that would speed up the process of fixing our pool. While you would think that being offered only a one man team instead of two you wouldn't need to pay for the job of two men instead of one especially if the women on the phone implied I would need to help. She told me the price wouldn't change or a discount would not be offered and now I am completely at a level of frustration and disappointment in the company's lack of customer service. The woman answering the phone may not like her job and if so she should be encouraged to look else where since every single time she has be a displeasure to speak to.
