We recently had a slab leak and contacted American Leak Detection for identification and repairs.

AFTER they completed the repairs, they upcharged us 40% over the original quote. The excavation crew charged an extra $750 because they supposedly dug farther than was quoted. In addition, the concrete work that they did to close up the hole in our slab was awful, and ALD basically said "sorry about your luck".

That being said, Mike the plumber was fantastic. But don't use them for excavation or finishing the job, because they use crappy subcontractors and don't stand behind their work.

I discovered I had a leak somewhere by the sound of water running and my meter running with nothing turned on. After a few calls to plumbers and even one plumber coming out whose detection service would have been twice as much as American Leak Detection, I got ALD out on 11/14/2023. The technician who came out, Mike Brown, was thorough and professional and located the precise spot of the leak, which was under my slab, and gave me alternatives to fixing, one being tunnelling which wasn't destructive to my home or foundation. That's what I chose.
When scheduling the fix I was told Mike would very soon be on vacation for the week of Thanksgiving and wouldn't be available until the 27th, but since waiting that long with a slab leak wasn't acceptable, Gabby at ALD went out of her way to move their schedule around so that Mike could come fix my leak on 11/17, before his vacation. That was WONDERFUL of them to do that.
The only downside to the experience was then we had to wait a LONG time for the City inspector to come out and sign off on the work, so I had a hole outside and under a portion of the house for about 11 days (due to the City and the Thanksgiving holiday), but Dennis Garcia from ALD came out THREE TIMES and waited many hours for the City and was a really great guy and the very first time the City didn't show up, Dennis put insulation on the exposed pipes for me so when it got cold there would be no problems.
After finally getting the City to show up and sign off on the work, ALD called today and scheduled the back-filling of the hole for tomorrow. To my happy surprise, the crew showed up TODAY (I work from home and ALD knew it so no problem there) and the crew told me that it is supposed to rain tonight/tomorrow so they wanted to get the back-fill done now before it rains. Another instance of them changing their schedule for the good of my home. They even folded up my tarps I had to cover the dirt pile and the hole (which ALD's excavation crew had covered with plywood for safety in the first place) and the back-fill crew even moved extra dirt to where they saw I was lacking at another area of my foundation. WOW. Talk about looking out for their customer.
ALD went above and beyond for me and really cared about my situation and I feel like they were really looking out for me and my home. THANK YOU SO MUCH, American Leak Detection! I made the right choice.
And to the City of Fort Worth... maybe you could take some tips from ALD on serving your people!!!

American Leak Detection provided excellent customer service and fixed our slab lake. We had the same technicians, Henry Recinos and Dennis Garcia, from the beginning of our project to the end. I appreciate them explaining to me, multiple times so I fully understood, our options for fixing the leak and the repair process. Henry answered our questions, responded to our phone calls, and made sure we were satisfied with their service. We had icy weather in the middle of the repair process and they made sure we had hot water. Thank you so much for making this frustrating slab leak less frustrating and for making sure we had the information we needed to make an informed decision about the repair. I would recommend American Leak Detection.

Nightmare. I would never use them again. The plumber who did the inspection was nice and professional, but the leak in the front yard was not where he said it was. Cha-ching, $365 for inspection paid that day. Then, the excavation crew came out and they actually found the leak in the line leading to the house. Cha-ching, an additional $1,550 paid that day. Unfortunately, they broke my sprinkler system pipe in the process. Another excavation crew came two days later to repair the sprinkler line, but it didn't hold and water poured out. American Leak told me they weren't responsible for what their excavation crew did--I told them legally that is not true. Another two days later another excavation crew came and attempted to repair the damage to my sprinkler system. It didn't completely work; before they left, they told me I could repair it myself and get the parts from Lowes. But, I called the nice plumber directly and he came and fixed it, which I appreciated. I was promised an inspection report and a repairs report to submit to the city within 2 days of the original main line repair. They sent incorrect reports that I cannot submit to the city for a water bill adjustment. We've talked to their staff at least 8 times to request a correct report. I'm still waiting for correct reports over 6 weeks later. Half of the time, they don't answer their phones.

My water meter was running 24/7 and I had looked for the leak for 2 days before I gave up and called American Leak Detection. Showed up the next day, was on time and immediately started to track down my leak. Used a couple of tools and had my leak pinpointed is less than an hour. The technician was very friendly but also very professional. The leak was in a location underground that probably could not be found without the proper tools and training. I liked that it was all non-destructive.

A tech from American Leak Detection has been here FOUR times to try to find our pool leak to no avail. $400 later we finally found the leak ourselves, this weekend, with the help of a friend. I called ALD this morning to cancel our upcoming appointment this week and told them we found the leak ourselves. I asked if they could refer us to someone to help repair the leak and we were told no. They stated that they only repair leaks that they find themselves. I find it ironic that during the FOUR trips out to our house, I showed the tech pics and a video of the water pooling in the flower bed closest to where the pool sweep was attached to the wall and he still couldn't find the leak. That was the first place our friend looked and he found the leak literally within 10 minutes. I'm giving them 3 stars because the tech was hard-working and super nice, otherwise I would be giving them 1 star.

We hired American Leak Detection to come and fix a crack in our pool. The patch only lasted for a few weeks. The technician immediately said that his patches have never failed and that we would need major construction and staples to repair the problem, but we insisted that he try to repair it one more time while under warranty. That crack has not leaked since 2nd repair, though now it's obvious that we need to have a skimmer leak. We wanted American Leak Detection to do the skimmer replacement near the crack to keep our warrantees together, but they declined. I feel like I've thrown away good money and now need to move onto another company. Three other bids have said we do not need staples or major construction (only a skimmer). I will revise this review if major construction is indeed needed.

Please make sure you understand that if you are using this company for a pool leak, they will charge you before you are allowed to see the results of the leak detection. Also, if you have ANY water features they will not check those unless you are willing to pay an additional $150.00. After receiving our results I was told that they were going to charge us the additional fee if we wanted to see if the leak was associated with our water features.

UPDATE: Only after inadvertently posting my review on the Dallas Yelp page, did the Ft. Worth branch reach out to help rectify the situation. They are in the process of trying to schedule a re-inspection. I will update my review based on how this goes.

UPDATE: American Leak Detection came out to re-inspect our pool to include our water features. Our leak was detected and recommendations were made to contract with another company to complete the repairs (the area of leak was not in their area of expertise). Our technician even came back out on Saturday to make sure the pool settings were correct. I am updating my review based on them attempting to make amends for for the initial inspection.

First, I don't typically write reviews, good or bad. There seem to lots of folks who share there opinions which help others make decisions on the company's products and/or services. But my experience with ALD of Fort Worth is one that I thought I needed to share. I got a referral from my pool company for services needed to locate and fix a leak in pool. I called and made an appointment. My expectations we high as they do a decent job of selling there services over the phone. Friday arrived and the tech. came and began the testing. We spoke in detail about past issues with the skimmers and he did a dye test in one of the skimmers. He repaired the cracks/leaks around the throat of the basket where the weir door meets the inlet to the skimmer. He then proceed running a pressure test. After the test his equipment showed a .27 in. per day leak. He said that this is number is on the high end, but acceptable within the industry. I disagreed. That is almost 2 inches per week in the winter time. But I accepted his response and began to run another bucket test to double check the findings. The pool rested for about 4 hrs before it went into freeze guard. When the pool turned on immediately bubbles began to appear as the pool primed. This was very strange, as they were not present prior to the services preformed. Immediately after the cold spell, the following Monday morning, I called ALD of FW to discuss these issues along with making an appt. with my pool company to find the issue with the bubbles for the pool eye outlets, which now is getting worse. I ran another bucket test after the cold since the pool was in freeze guard for a day and a half or so. This is were things, in my opinion, get messy. After a pretty lengthy discussion with ALD of FW, we decided to have the tech. return to do a follow up. Immediately after I hang up I received an email from ALD. It was my paid receipt for the services previously preformed. In the body of the receipt were disclaimers regarding the return visit and costs associated they also were insisting a skimmer injection was the fix for my issue. Again, I disagreed. The issues with the skimmers are above the throat of the skimmer inlet, not below and the injection treatment only goes to the bottom. Does not fill the sides and definitely would not FIX my issue. Nevertheless, I made my follow up appt. and in the interim, my pool company came by to repair the air getting into the lines. Upon inspection, it was brought to my attention a gasket on my heater has blown. I explained in great detail everything that has taken place over the last 10 days or so. Meanwhile, the latest bucket test showed I was still loosing water somewhere. While the pool tech. was at my house, he rechecked the skimmers via dye testing. To my astonishment, there were 2 small cracks that were not found upon ALD initial visit....in the other skimmer?...He used epoxy to fix the leaks he found, I started yet another bucket test, and we began to look at the manifold gasket. Prior to starting any repairs, we discussed the possibility of the bolts off the head breaking off...sure enough, it broke and the heater is now unrepairable. We took the heater off line, re plumbed the pvc, and now NO AIR in the lines. Next, my latest bucket test showed no leakage. I called ALD of FW to discuss and to cancel the return appt. I also informed them of what happened since their tech. was last out at my house. Explained everything in great detail and ultimately asked to speak with a supervisor. Well several days went by with no follow up. When I called back, I spoke to the person who I have been speaking with since I fist contacted ALD of FW...She was well aware of the situation...She proceeded to give me the message that the supervisor told her to tell me... Basically....our business transaction is complete. Since I cancelled my revisit appointment and I don't want to replace the skimmers at this time or repair with their injection process, we have nothing else to discuss....This is my experience , if you read this and still use them, Good Luck

I don't want to even give the 1 star.
The technician had incorrect leak detection first time $369. I spend $250 to plumber dig up found nothing leak. Then, the manager resend technician to property retake leak detection will change $224. This is not fair to customer. I would not use this company anymore. Very disappointed!
