We hired American Leak Detection to come and fix a crack in our pool. The patch only lasted for a few weeks. The technician immediately said that his patches have never failed and that we would need major construction and staples to repair the problem, but we insisted that he try to repair it one more time while under warranty. That crack has not leaked since 2nd repair, though now it's obvious that we need to have a skimmer leak. We wanted American Leak Detection to do the skimmer replacement near the crack to keep our warrantees together, but they declined. I feel like I've thrown away good money and now need to move onto another company. Three other bids have said we do not need staples or major construction (only a skimmer). I will revise this review if major construction is indeed needed.

Please make sure you understand that if you are using this company for a pool leak, they will charge you before you are allowed to see the results of the leak detection. Also, if you have ANY water features they will not check those unless you are willing to pay an additional $150.00. After receiving our results I was told that they were going to charge us the additional fee if we wanted to see if the leak was associated with our water features.
UPDATE: Only after inadvertently posting my review on the Dallas Yelp page, did the Ft. Worth branch reach out to help rectify the situation. They are in the process of trying to schedule a re-inspection. I will update my review based on how this goes.
UPDATE: American Leak Detection came out to re-inspect our pool to include our water features. Our leak was detected and recommendations were made to contract with another company to complete the repairs (the area of leak was not in their area of expertise). Our technician even came back out on Saturday to make sure the pool settings were correct. I am updating my review based on them attempting to make amends for for the initial inspection.

First, I don't typically write reviews, good or bad. There seem to lots of folks who share there opinions which help others make decisions on the company's products and/or services. But my experience with ALD of Fort Worth is one that I thought I needed to share. I got a referral from my pool company for services needed to locate and fix a leak in pool. I called and made an appointment. My expectations we high as they do a decent job of selling there services over the phone. Friday arrived and the tech. came and began the testing. We spoke in detail about past issues with the skimmers and he did a dye test in one of the skimmers. He repaired the cracks/leaks around the throat of the basket where the weir door meets the inlet to the skimmer. He then proceed running a pressure test. After the test his equipment showed a .27 in. per day leak. He said that this is number is on the high end, but acceptable within the industry. I disagreed. That is almost 2 inches per week in the winter time. But I accepted his response and began to run another bucket test to double check the findings. The pool rested for about 4 hrs before it went into freeze guard. When the pool turned on immediately bubbles began to appear as the pool primed. This was very strange, as they were not present prior to the services preformed. Immediately after the cold spell, the following Monday morning, I called ALD of FW to discuss these issues along with making an appt. with my pool company to find the issue with the bubbles for the pool eye outlets, which now is getting worse. I ran another bucket test after the cold since the pool was in freeze guard for a day and a half or so. This is were things, in my opinion, get messy. After a pretty lengthy discussion with ALD of FW, we decided to have the tech. return to do a follow up. Immediately after I hang up I received an email from ALD. It was my paid receipt for the services previously preformed. In the body of the receipt were disclaimers regarding the return visit and costs associated they also were insisting a skimmer injection was the fix for my issue. Again, I disagreed. The issues with the skimmers are above the throat of the skimmer inlet, not below and the injection treatment only goes to the bottom. Does not fill the sides and definitely would not FIX my issue. Nevertheless, I made my follow up appt. and in the interim, my pool company came by to repair the air getting into the lines. Upon inspection, it was brought to my attention a gasket on my heater has blown. I explained in great detail everything that has taken place over the last 10 days or so. Meanwhile, the latest bucket test showed I was still loosing water somewhere. While the pool tech. was at my house, he rechecked the skimmers via dye testing. To my astonishment, there were 2 small cracks that were not found upon ALD initial visit....in the other skimmer?...He used epoxy to fix the leaks he found, I started yet another bucket test, and we began to look at the manifold gasket. Prior to starting any repairs, we discussed the possibility of the bolts off the head breaking off...sure enough, it broke and the heater is now unrepairable. We took the heater off line, re plumbed the pvc, and now NO AIR in the lines. Next, my latest bucket test showed no leakage. I called ALD of FW to discuss and to cancel the return appt. I also informed them of what happened since their tech. was last out at my house. Explained everything in great detail and ultimately asked to speak with a supervisor. Well several days went by with no follow up. When I called back, I spoke to the person who I have been speaking with since I fist contacted ALD of FW...She was well aware of the situation...She proceeded to give me the message that the supervisor told her to tell me... Basically....our business transaction is complete. Since I cancelled my revisit appointment and I don't want to replace the skimmers at this time or repair with their injection process, we have nothing else to discuss....This is my experience , if you read this and still use them, Good Luck

I don't want to even give the 1 star.
The technician had incorrect leak detection first time $369. I spend $250 to plumber dig up found nothing leak. Then, the manager resend technician to property retake leak detection will change $224. This is not fair to customer. I would not use this company anymore. Very disappointed!

"No free estimates!?" Been calling around regarding my slab leak and this is the first organization I've encountered that does this. I know exactly where the leak is located and I can't even get a ballpark figure over the phone, while other experts in this field do not have a problem giving me an idea of possible cost range.

I contacted American Leak Detection for a leak in my gunite pool. From start to finish, American Leak Detection handled everything with complete professionalism. The scheduling process was painless, and when it was time to set the schedule, I was provided with a one hour window instead of the normal 4 hour guestimate. The technician arrived at my home on time and explained what steps he would take to locate the leak. During the process I asked several questions and he was more than willing to take the time to explain what he was doing and what the outcome he expected to find. After going through his process he was able to locate two separate leak sources and gave me options on the corrective actions that he could take. Since I am about to replaster the pool, we went with a temporary solution which he agreed was the best course of action. Even though this was a pricey repair, I would not hesitate to use and/or recommend American Leak Detection. Special thanks to all that were involved with my particular case. Great Job!

After Home Depot delivered my dishwasher they refused to install it because my supply line was copper. However, we signed for the appliance so they refused to take it back. Called a plumber who said it would be 200. Then he called and said 330.
I called these guys and had an appointment in a day. They send a pic of the plumber in an email. He charged 150 and did a superb job. The appliance is level and he looped the drain line per code to prevent backwash of the dirty water. Damn impressed!!! He would have taken the old one but his truck was full. Amazing!!!!!! I'll use this company again!!!!!

EXCEPTIONAL!
I called American Leak Detection about a leak that I had in my pool. I called early and left and message and received a prompt return call and got on schedule. I received a confirmation email outlining when to expect the tech. The day prior to my scheduled appointment I received another call giving me the window of arrival and then received a final call from the tech giving me and ETA of arrival.
Mitch showed up on time looking professional and ready to work. Before he got started he patiently listened to my concerns and my attempts to self diagnose the problem. He got to work and quickly found one leak source. He them inspected the entire pool, inside and out including all the plumbing. To make sure all aspects where covered he got in my pool and checked every outlet, skimmer, light, drains, the tile, etc. He spent about an hour inside the pool. He did pressure tests on all lines. After several hours it was determined that I only had some small leaks around the simmers which he quickly repaired.
Mitch was professional, personable, knowledgeable and pleasant. From beginning to end my experience was exceptional! As a Real Estate professional I deal with contractors, inspectors and service people from many fields from a wide array of professions and what I appreciate the most is fairness, honesty and professionalism. This experience hit the bulls eye...........
I will be referring these guys to anyone I can. Big thanks to Mitch.... You rock!

I would highly recommend American Leak Detection. I had great service from the minute I called and spoke to (I think Leslie) to the time Michael (the pool whisperer) came to the house. We had been dealing with a leak in our pool for years. I've had other companies out, to no avail. We were adding water to our pool on a daily basis. Michael came out and found the leak within 15 minutes. It was in our spa. He fixed it in about 1/2 and hour. He went above and beyond, testing other things just to be thorough. It's the best money I've spent. Thank you.

Paid the nearly $500 for a leak detection that took a few months to detect. In meantime, spent money from leak on higher water bill. Provided credit card # via phone for the initial leak detection cost and found credit card information was kept on file which is highly unsafe and not a common business practice due to credit card fraud being so prevalent. Initially, were told that the leak just took a quick application of some epoxy over the crack and technician said no charge since it took them a while to figure out. After first application did not work, received "payment received" document charged against that card (never provided payment information for charge unaware of). The technician was very nice and worked very hard through the 4 trips to complete the job. This is the Fort Worth location.
