Matt and I were both placed in a tough situation because of a mistake by my insurance company. We both went endlessly around and around with the various claims representatives before we were able to talk to one another to directly resolve an outstanding payment.
As a few of the reviews mention, Debbie's customer service was fantastic during the fiasco. Unfortunately -- as other reviews also mention -- Matt's customer service toward me was disappointing.
Given the great experience I had with Debbie, I (naively) had zero doubt that Matt and I would find common ground given what we had both been through the ringer with the insurance company. I was even hopeful that he would be open to meeting somewhere in the middle to handle the outstanding payment. Sadly, when Matt called me back he was immediately argumentative and frustrated toward me because of his poor experience with my insurance company. I was honestly shocked by his disregard for customer service, his lack of basic cordial discourse, and for the lack of empathy for the situation that we were both thrown into. I told Matt I was surprised by how he was talking to me considering I had no part in any of the mix up. He said ""Sorry, I'm just a direct guy"". In the end, I paid the full bill.
I am not writing this review because of the situation itself -- we both got the short end of the stick from the insurance company and I understand the situation Matt was in. I am writing this review to make prospective customers aware of how Matt chose to conduct himself as a business owner. The Yelp description uses the phrases like ""taking care of customers"" and ""provide customers with the best service"". Unfortunately this was not my experience.

I called American Leak Detection of Boise to find an underground natural gas leak.
My initial experience was poor. The technician could find the leak using sonic detection and nitrogen gas could not be used due to windy conditions (he did not offer to come back at another time). Worse, the water used for sonic detection got into my gas meter with stopped all gas appliances from working.
However, it's when things do not go right that you find out about a company's commitment to customer service. I called the company to complain and was told that Matt, the owner, would personally come out and make things right.
The second visit was great! He determined the gas line's location using the ""find wire"". Then he pressurized the line with nitrogen and ""sniffed"" the entire underground (lawn) run until he found the leak. That location was confirmed with a sensitive underground microphone.
Finally, Matt spray painted 'X' over the spot. I excavated where indicated and the leak was found with within only 1 or 2 inches where it was detected.
I was ecstatic!
My gas firepit is finally finished thanks to American Leak Detection!

I have a hole in my cement floor because you did not do your job correctly. You said the leak was there, but turns out it wasn't. You came back and charged me several hundred dollars more to tell me you couldn't find it after all. I'm a sucker.

Appreciated the mask to enter my home. The technician Kameron, was professional and polite. He was also very informative & answered all my questions. He made me feel he was here to help me. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone needing the detection services

We had a leak in our pool. The gentleman that took care of us was absolutely the best. He was wicked smart, efficient, friendly, thorough, patient and did I say wicked smart. He found our leak. Saved us a ton of money because we thought the leak was under the concrete and it was in the lining of our pool. Solid service solid company. Would totally recommend to anyone!

Matt came out and was a life saver he found the leak and even was able to refer me to someone that was able to help me out fast!

If anyone hopes, that Matt can positively determine the source of a leak I would advise you to think twice or thrice about it and waste your money elsewhere. You have better chances winning big in Las Vegas or getting struck by lightning.
First of all I am not sure how could Matt detect any leaks if he seemed to be hardly able to detect his own rear end with both hands and a map.Unless you are an adjuster and use him as some kind of a tool to deny a claim, he is useless. All he could do at my household is open and close the water and screw/unscrew shower caps and hoses(so much for non-invasive),told me he sees nothing on infrared camera plus taking numerous photos with his Chinese made cellphone, which was kinda creepy. At least 3 pictures he took and shared without my knowledge or consent(1 of my bedroom,1 of my kitchen and 1 of the other bathroom). He also perceives time differently.Appointment was made for 5 pm.The day of appointment Matt told me he will come at 8 pm and showed up at 6 pm.We live in time and space luckily I persuaded my spouse to take kids and visit her sister for half a day, so that Matt could do whatever he calls job.I hope he sees colors and perceives depth the same way as most people if not might be a good idea for him to be tested by someone ,who went to an actual college , not just received on a job training.
Not to mention dude was pretty rude and acted like he owns my place.I would not mind this type of behavior if he paid us first and gave us few weeks to move our crap. And yet he did not.He never asked my permission to let the water run or to screw/unscrew the water hose.He left one of the shower heads unscrewed.Guess common courtesy is not so common nowadays. He never kept me abreast of what was he was going to do next.I will turn my head and he already plays with my bathtub in a completely different bathroom, which was not connected to the leak or water damage, that occurred. He never detected any leaks the source of a leak and water damage was pointed to him like a dozenths times plain and simple. Had to watch him like a hawk, being afraid he would cause more damage to my property. After he left shower head downstairs started leaking slightly.Normally he should not have touched it,but I left him there alone for few minutes , so who knows ? How one detects the water leak,by testing the water pressure under the sink is still a mystery to me.Did he talk to the water? Hope his on a job training included at least 1 short course in physics.
So in my opinion,if you just need to detect the leak for yourself and repair it you can do much better job with few simple tools, that can be purchased at local Harbor Freight store.
I understand by his age Matt wants to feel like he is an ""expert"" in something somehow, but frankly speaking a monkey with a wrench or a 5 year old with 3 tools and an iphone could have done the similar job.But I guess without driving Big Important Truck there is less excitement.
Oh ... well ... good luck to him and his customers.I would never do business with this company and I am going to advise all my friends, relatives and neighbors against it.

Very successful visit! We suspected a small leak in our main water line and our plumber recommended having American leak detection come check.
Once he found it he marked the spot with a flag and the next day, after digging down about 4 feet, we found he was within two inches of the actual leak.
I liked that I was told over the phone exactly what to expect and how much it would cost before they even came out. They had a cancelation so someone came out within the hour. I'm sure that isn't typical but I didn't mind at all. Overall it was a great experience.

Had a great experience with Craig and Matt. I noticed the pool was leaking and after having pooldoctor.com come out a few times with no luck, they referred me to American Leak Detection. I was in the middle of trying to sell my house, so time was of the essence. They came out the next day and were able to confirm that the pipes (above as well as underground) were not leaking, which was a relief. They couldn't find anything obvious, so they re-patched some patches at the ladders. After a few days it was clear the leak was still there. They came back and tested the light with a dome and identified the real leak. They fixed everything for the price of the original visit, and did so with pleasant attitudes and a commitment to customer service. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

He was way off. Said leak would be within 3-4 feet of were he said. I marked the spot and started digging. After I dug a whole 4'x4' and five feet deep by hand I gave up and had to spend over a grand for Roto Rooter to come out. He wasn't even close to the water line and the leak was mor like 8 feet away. I called and Craig told me he was under no obligation to refund anything but he'd try to make sure something got back my way. Guess what? It's been over three weeks and still no word from him. This was all after he said the leak was under the house. Save your money.
