Gerard from American Leak Detection just saved me from having my water turned off unnecessarily, and I am extremely grateful to him. Water was coming up from under our floor and even when we turned of the water supply to our home for four days, the flood continued. Neither the plumbers nor my town's Department of Public Works, nor the Property Management nor the HOA (who told me they looked at blueprints) could figure out where the water was coming from.

My insurance company paid to have Gerard from American Leak Detection come, and he quickly determined none of my pipes were leaking at all, but my neighbor's pipe was and that was causing the flood in my home. Gerard was calm and certain, and completely professional. Three other people were telling him he was wrong (the man from DPW, the HOA president, and the rep from the Property Management Company) and those three all wanted to shut my water back off.
Gerard stayed firm in explaining what he 100% know to be true, which is that the flood in my home would only stop if the neighbor's water was shut off, and that there was no point in shutting my water off because my pipes were not leaking.

After much convincing, DPW finally shut off my neighbor's water at the curb, while keeping mine on.
Lo and behold, the flooding ceased and has not resumed in the five past days since my neighbor's water was turned off. I called Gerard to thank him for both his skills and his unwavering commitment to stating his findings even when pressed by three others at one time to change his position. I want to thank him publicly with this five star review.

Edited 11/23/24 to add: the plumbers jackhammered through the concrete slab last week and the leak was exactly under the spot Gerard had marked. Due to his superior leak detection skills, the plumbers were able to find and repair the pipe with a minimum amount of destruction to the foundation of my home.

Bud and Jackie were very rude to me and kind of need an attitude check when regarding customers and just people in general.

I did some digging and apparently they have a history of being nasty as well, would love to see what any former employees have to say about anything happening behind the scenes.

They came and did a job and were u able to successfully locate the leak and refuse to address the issue and return.

Bridgeton NJ location. I needed to understand the source of a dripping water sound in my basement. The person taking my call was pleasant and professional. Due to a previously scheduled job nearby was able to schedule an appointment quickly even though my issue was not an emergency. Did a great job diagnosing and explaining what was happening.

unfortunately American Leak Detection wasnt able to help me with my particular problem with my pool, but none the less, their customer service is beyond great. i spoke with Nicole, and she helped me through the process of my issue and even though my leak issue wasnt something they were able to handle, nicole helped me out and connected me with the right people and guided me to someone that was able to help. it didnt work out this time, but if i ever need a leak detection service, this company will be at the top of my list. thanks Nicole!

Do Not Hire. Your money will go down the drain with your water.

I hired American Leak Detection to fix a leak in my pool.

They came, said they found a leak and fixed it. Two weeks later, the pool continued to leak. I tried to call a few times and received no call back. When my check wasn't cashed in two months, I stopped payment thinking they were out of business.

I receive a call from them months later demanding payment with no offer of returning to find the leak.

A year and a half later, they take me to court for non-payment. Hire someone else or this could be you!

I live in Flanders NJ. I contacted this company because according to my plumber I had a leak under my slab coming from the heating system. My lower level is composed of a full finished area mostly wood floors. I was very concerned since the leak could had been anywhere and to find it would had been a costly nightmare. I googled and found this company and made an appointment. The guy came to the home with all of his equipment. He went through out the whole area and found the leak and marked the spot. My plumber came into the dug up where the spot was marked and exactly where spot was mark approximately 1 foot under the slab he found the leaking pipe. Like he told me the guy that marked the spot was on the money and he told me he is keeping their number for future reference. It is incredible how they were able to find the leak. My plumber fixed the problem has been solved. I want Express my thanks to american leak detectors for a job well done and putting my worries at peace. These are the guys to call if you need to detect a leak.

They are great. Got to us one day after booking them knowing we had an emergency. Expensive yes - but professional, on time, and really know their stuff. We had a difficult issue to locate it and they were able to find it without digging up the entire place. Would not hesitate to use them again.

I want to say this American Leak Detection company in Freehold, is awesome. I'm a plumber and home contractor for 27 years, I've used their service the past 7 years many times. Their office and their technicians are 1st rate. The equipment they have on their fleet of trunks are new, advanced and expensive. What I pay for their leak detection service has saved me 10 times or more the cost of their service. They are able to find a leaky water main or water supply line under concrete and under many feet of soil. Very happy with them. They are polite, responsive, and they truly love and care about what they do. I want to say thanks Al Q

Their billing department is literally so upside down. My insurance company sent me half the money to cover an assessment by Bud's employees (which somehow came out to be a $500 charge for a 45 minute visit). They found no leak. I asked the guys if I owed them any money, and they left claiming my insurance company would take care of everything. No invoice was ever sent to me.

This visit occurred in November of 2016. I received a call from their billing department in July of 2017 asking me to pay them the money my insurance company sent me that I owed them.

I wouldn't work with this company based solely on the fact that they can't keep their books straight, and they may come looking for money owed to them nearly a year after they've overcharged you.
