I had a nasty hot water leak running from my hot water heater in the garage to the kitchen - quite far away. I had quotes to repipe and cut through my ceiling and floor joists. ALD came and said they could run a PEX line through the bad copper pipe and not tear up my house. It took 2 guys about 5 hours to do that since there are some issues with an old repair of the bad pipe. But they completed the job and voila! - no hot water leak. They were courteous and conscientious. Highly recommend these guys.

Thank you to Matt G. and Ramiro for the thorough testing to see if our pool had a leak. We appreciate you being so informative and helping us figure out why the pump was not working properly. Highly recommend.

We are 100% satisfied with this Company. Our pool had a baffling leak that we couldn't pinpoint via traditional/homeowner DIY methods. Talked to a couple of companies and decided on American Leak.
Matt, the leak specialist was a no nonsense, unbelievably knowledgeable specialist and determined the issue within 5 minutes of arrival! It was NOT an obvious leak but because of his extensive experience in this field, he was familiar with our 60+ year old inground pool. That know-how only comes by hands on experience in the field.
He educated us on the copper inside our deck skimmer and applied a temporary fix until we can afford to do the replacement of the skimmer, etc. Matt also provided us With a very reasonable quote for that future ""must do"" repair. No scams, no wasting time doing unnecessary testing elsewhere etc. extremely happy. And we will be calling them for the major repair when funds permit.

Chris, the owner, personally came out and did the initial inspection. American Leak Detection was a referral by a trusted friend and retired plumber. When Garrett and his helper came out to do the job a couple of days later they went in through the drywall behind my dryer and again in the corner of the garage. The leak went all the way out to the meter outside. In less than two hours they finished the job expertly and left no trace of debris or jack hammering my beautiful tile floor (that was the case 10 years ago by another plumber). They back up their work with a 5 year guarantee. Couldn't be happier all the way around. Highly recommend this company!

I had a pool leak and they came just spent around determined it's skimmer leaking for 40 minutes and offered me an amount to fix the leak. I found a better price to fix the skimmer. After the fix, the pool still leaking and then I called them they wanted me to ask the repair person to detect the portion and promise will contact me regarding their detection methods. I didn't receive their call and the repair guy found out it's the drainage pipe leak. Which I asked them when do the inspection if it's possible the main drain leak and they said really it's RARE and didn't inspect it!!!
They charged me $300-400 for their service and spent another $250 for another leak inspection.

Definitely don't recommend

Chris is great, use him quite often. We run a plumbing company and whenever we have underground water or gas leaks we call ALD. So far there hasn't been a leak chris has not found.

I was referred to American Leak Detection by my insurance carrier USAA. This meant that Chris Graham worked for the insurance company not me. My water leak under the house was from a pinhole in a galvanized pipe which subsequently rusted over.
His report was correct, but it was worded in such a way that the insurance company initially denied my claim. He reported that ""water entered from an unknown source"", but he could not demonstrate that source. USAA denied my claim. I threatened to file a claim in Small Claims Court and USAA sent out a ""field adjuster"". This man was not a USAA employee, but from an independent company. I never saw his report, but two days later USAA approved my claim.
Remember, Chris, while a hard working nice human being, is not looking out for the homeowner's interests. USAA will probably utilize him again, but I will not.

The water level in our pool was dropping. Every morning we found that level was about 2 inches lower than the day before. I felt like the boy in Hans Brinker, ""Just as he was bracing himself for a run, he was startled by the sound of trickling water. Whence did it come? He looked up, and saw a small hole in the dike... The little hole, if water were allowed to trickle through, would soon be a large one; and a terrible inundation would be the result."" In this story the boy saved Haarlem from being flooded by sticking his finger in the dike plugging the hole. Right now, I needed someone to save our backyard from a terrible inundation and sticking my finger in a hole was a creative solution, to be sure, but not one that I felt was practical in our current situation. I asked around and was referred to American Leak Detection. After checking their ratings, I called and they were able to come out to our house for their diagnostic test within a couple of days. The leak detection specialist was prompt and friendly on the day of the appointment. The testing was thorough, involving every potential point where the leak could be originating. Our leak was determined to be in the pipe leading from the skimmer back to the pump. We were given a quote on the price for American Leak Detection to fix our problem. The estimate projected about one full day of work to patch the hole in our dike. I asked and was told that if the amount of work required to fix the leak was less than their estimate then the price would likely be lowered but the price would not be higher even if the work was greater than what they anticipated. The validity of this assurance was put to the test in our case. The first day it became apparent that the leak was in a pipe that was unexpectedly found to be encased in concrete. Four full time days of work later for multiple workers and our leak was finally fixed. The work involved not only releasing the offending pipe from its concrete encasement and patching the leak, but also opening a large portion of the pool deck to obtain access to the affected pipe. After the pipe was fixed and the whole system tested to confirm the leak had been eradicated, they expertly reconstructed the pool deck leaving an unblemished surface when they finished. Throughout this ordeal, the workers from American Leak Detection were unfailingly polite and diligent in their pursuit of the chink in our pool's armor. In the end, our leak was fixed and true to their word they stuck to the original estimate despite the significant amount of extra work that was involved in our repair. American Leak Dection is a great company with high integrity and superior customer service. I hope we never develop another leak, but if we do there is no other company that I would consider to do the work.
