We had a leak in our main line to the house over the Christmas holidays. They were the only company that responded to our calls, and scheduled and identified the leak quickly. They also scheduled and did the repair. I was very pleased with the care and professionalism exhibited by Sean in excacating and making rhe repair. He treated the repair like it was his own property, which is hard to find nowadays. Price was as quoted, which was reasonable. If we have another leak, they will be the ones I call.

I was very pleased with this company. My EBMUD bill was suddenly out of control and EBMUD contacted me to tell me I probably had a leak. It turned out to be in our sprinkler system. I asked someone for a recommendation, and they gave me the name of American Leak Detection. I was very pleased with this company's response. They set up an appointment, called me to let me know the first worker (Tanner) would be a little late due to traffic, and kept me informed about when he'd be arriving. He promptly detected the location of the leak and another worker (Patrick) happened to be available to fix it later the same day. They let me know via phone calls when each of them was on their way. Both Tanner and Patrick were very professional, showed me the problem area and explained everything to me in a very comprehensible manner. Patrick also told me how to avoid the same problem in the future. I felt confident in both of them and I would highly recommend them to anyone suffering an undetected leak at their home.

Alas, we were confronted with another water pipe leak in the concrete slab of our Eichler home. Once more we contacted American Leak Detection (ALD) to find the location of the leak. As he did on the previous occasion when we had a leak, Christian was thorough and quickly determined the location of the leak. Unlike the previous time when we had another company repair the leak, we had ALD do the job instead.

Tom, the technician who repaired the leak, was professional and courteous his approach to the job. He arrived promptly and went right to work. He explained what he was doing at various steps along the way. Tom also informed us of the sand he was placing under the location of the break in the pipe to hopefully preclude another problem for years to come.

In addition, Belli of ADL was quick to respond to any emails or questions that I had. I hope to never have to contact ADL again but if another leak should ever occur, rest assured that I will be calling ADL.

If I could have, I would have made this a no-star review. About 2 years ago I paid these guys to fit a pool skimmer. Not only did they butcher the concrete around my pool but on the first night I lost a foot of water because they didn't fit it properly. They came back a day later to refit it, made a worse job of the concrete (the sweep's not even level with the rest of the surround) and left me with a pool sweep that's leaked ever since.

I'd summarize the person who fitted the sweep as completely incompetent and the person I phoned to try and get to come back out and sort fix this mess as arrogant.

Why am I writing this now? I got home tonight and had to refill the pool again as the 4th lot of temporary seal I've had to fit since this mess has failed. I figured I should at last get round to posting this review so others can perhaps avoid the bad service I experienced. If you'd like to avoid paying $2K to make a bad situation worse, then I'd strongly recommend you look elsewhere.

American Leak Detection is highly respectable, efficient, and affordable! ALD was friendly both over the phone and in person.

After a competing plumbing company broke a water pipe in the process of investigating an underground leak, we immediately called John Stephenson from ALD for a repair estimate. Not only did John repair the damaged pipe and fix the leak that we were unable to find, but also gave an affordable repair estimate.

John was extremely professional, personable, and knowledgeable. The technology he used to detect the underground leak was thorough and accurate. In addition, John was very efficient, and finished the repair in about an hour. Overall, fantastic service and a job well down.

I am very satisfied with the results, and highly recommend ALD services to everyone. I will be calling ALD for any and all future leaks. Note that I have already passed along ALD's contact information to our family and friends.

I hired these guys to find a leak in my mainline and they were able to do so fairly quickly. I asked that they deduct the $25 Yelp coupon from my final bill. They then gave me a $790 quote to repair the leak. The tech, who was pleasant enough, told me it would be an all day job. I asked if they could reduce the quoted amount if I removed the deck boards myself, as the leak was underneath my deck. Paul, whom I mainly dealt with and at times can be condescending and rude, said he would deduct $100. Trying to save money, I asked how much it would be if I hired someone to dig up the dirt to access the pvc pipe. In response, I got back an email implying I'm cheap. Maybe Paul is swimming in money, but a total bill over $1000 (leak detection + repairs) is a lot for me and a couple week's pay.

In the end, the repair took only 2.5 hours. That means they essentially charged me almost $300 an hour! Knowing that, Paul still refused to apply a courtesy $25 Yelp discount (there's no wording on their site stating the coupon can only be used once). There aren't a lot of choices in leak detection, but there's plenty of choice when it comes to repairs from people who truly appreciate your business with a smile. My recommendation is to get a quote from a plumber, landscaper or handyman that charges by the hour instead of accepting a flat rate from these guys. I could have saved myself hundreds of dollars and aggravation if I had done so.

Christian found the leak in our pool and was very thorough and pleasant he was on time and efficient. When other methods failed he applied patched or vinyl pool .
