We have an Air condition that is 30 years old and it was has been running great until last fall (2023). American Home Shield (AHS) repaired it by purchasing a Compressor ($300), but we had to pay for the freon R22 which is hard to fine, that cost us ($1600). When the AC went out again this year May 2024, AHS did not want to pay to have it replaced because the contractor who repaired it in 2023 said the Condenser Coils were damaged. AHS has pictures of the AC last year and this year and the Coils look the same. Lee company service our AC every year and they submitted pictures of our AC back in 2019 and the Coils look the same. Why did AHS replaced the compressor last year when the coils looked the same.
The only thing we do is turn the AC on, off and adjust the temp. We pay to have the unit service that is why it has last for over 30 years. Can someone please tell me how can Condenser Coils not be wear and tear for an AC over 30 years when life expectancy is 15 years. I should have listen to Dave Ramsey, warranty companies is a ripe off.
Another thing, AHS does not use well known Companies/Contractors.
CUSTOMERS, PLEASE BE AWARE. WHEN IT'S A HIGH DOLLAR ITEM, THEY WILL FIND A WAY NOT TO PAY ALTHOUGH YOU HAVE PAID PREMIUMS MONTHLY FOR YEARS..

Zero stars. This company sucks. Terrible customer service. They jerked us around already 3 times and we've only been in our new place for two months. I tried to speak with a supervisor to lodge a formal complaint and, of course, was put on hold for 10 minutes and then told that she was busy. They are the absolute worst.

We've had an American Home Shield - AHS - protection plan for at least 15 years, with only 1 claim. Our HVAC thermostat decided to quit in July 2023 during a couple weeks of very hot temperatures. We called the AHS phone number to submit a claim. They arranged for a HVAC technician to come and analyze the inoperative thermostat. Two days later he arrived and determined the thermostat needed to be replaced but had to get permission from AHS to order a new thermostat. Two days later the HVAC service company called to inform us that a replacement thermostat been approved by AHS and it had been ordered. AHS also informed us through email. Weeks went by and during those weeks we called both AHS and the HVAC service company to get an update receiving and installing the new thermostat, but they would either not return our calls, or provide us misinformation from several agents who could never get the situation straight. Two months later, after numerous attempts to contact AHS, we finally made contact with AHS, only to be informed that they determined nothing was wrong with the thermostat and cancelled the order for the new thermostat, without informing us. AHS reaped our money for 15 years and then dishonored their warranty service plan. A disgraceful company!

Worst company ever!! They jerked us so long for a fridge repair that we had to go buy another one. It took over 6 weeks to get a part replaced.
Check BBB, these guy have numerous complaints. How are they still in business!?

If you're thinking of signing up for an American Home Shield Warranty Plan - DON'T DO IT! If you already have a plan - CANCEL IT!
American Home Shield will take your money, but will use every stall tactic to delay your claim. I had a claim for a broken hot water tank that was leaking water into my house and it took them one week to approve my claim. I had to call them many, many times to get them to expedite my request, but they didn't seem to have any sense of urgency.
Before they approved the claim, I had to pay the deductible any other costs incurred for code adjustments. Even after I paid them, they still didn't respond in a timely manner.
And here's the kicker...when I called to cancel my home warranty plan, they charged me $65.99 for the cancellation!

They only get one star because Yelp won't let you choose ZERO. My 81 year old mother has had their Home warranty for years. Her a/c unit went out, 106-112 degree days. She just got out of the hospital and is extremely sick and weak and cannot afford to replace her unit. American Home Shield advertises 24 hour service. They have had the estimate from their chosen repair company for 14 days now. They will not approve the repairs and they will not let us speak to anyone who actually makes the decisions. Customer service is nearly nonexistent. The only people you can speak to are completely ignorant of the process and are glorified message takers for their ""Contract Relations"" dept. AHS falsely advertises services they refuse to provide. Taking advantage of a sick old woman- it is not only breech of contract, but fraud at best.
Read the Better Business Bureau reviews. They have tens of thousands of complaints. Save your money and find a reputable warranty company.

If yelp would allow, I would give AHS no stars. Run, don't walk away from this horrible company. I'm not one to leave reviews, good or bad, however the treatment we've received from AHS warrants a warning to would be victims. Starting with customer service, which is virtually worthless. Extremely long hold times for inaccurate or misleading information. Second, the uncovered costs for air conditioning repairs is outrageously high. Almost as if your paying for the full repair amount. AHS will not disclose the amount they pay towards your repair. In addition, be aware there is NO SENSE OF URGENCY to have your repair completed. Our A/C claim was submitted on 6/6/23, and after hours upon hours of time spent on telephone calls and follow up, the repair was finally completed on 7/21/23. We live in Arizona, where temps reached 120 during this time, which created a dangerous and unhealthy situation. Buyer beware, don't fall for their bs.

SCAM. After paying them thousands of dollars in the past 7 years, they refused to restore my refrigerator because of failed motor. They used all kinds of excuses, such as it had dust in the back, and the water liner to the freezer was detached. Customer service is had to understand due to being overseas and some are condescending, laughing at me while I am frustrated. They also raised their prices this year by $30 per month without my consent. I had to call my back and open a case to get a refund for the difference...... STAY AWAY!

Trash, 5 years of payments and it's always a hassle to get someone to come out for a repair. Every job takes atleast 2 weeks to complete. The come to inspect in 5-6 days, then they reschedule you another week to come an make the repair. Or the try an repair an schedule you another week to try again. Most of these situations wasn't for parts on hold. They only allow you one company to work with an they always try for the quick fix which usually only holds up a week past the warranty so they can can tell you it's a new claim. You also can't leave them bcuz once you have a claim, no other warranty company will take on. I literally had to pay for my last repair on my own so I can wait a year an get a new warranty company. Do yourself a favor an avoid this warranty company.

We bought an investment condo and our realtor negotiated a year service warranty thru AHS as an added bonus! Our condo was without working air conditioning in the Southern California desert for 3 weeks. I made at least 15 calls to them trying to get the Heating and Air Conditioning service company to put in their notes so I could get a 2nd opinion request with another one of their service providers. After many days of no contact from the company they sent out and no contact from American Home Shield I ordered an escalation of the claim. The woman from that department called me and talked over me and was rude and wouldn't let me finish then said they would not approve a 2nd request and they wouldn't cover most of the diagnosis found by their service provider. I wanted another service provider because the one they sent left us hanging for 4 days. They refused to give me another company and I told them I would pay to have it repaired and send them the bill. I was told. ""have a good day"" and got hung up on. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Our contract was paid in full by the seller of our unit and it is over in 33 days. YAY!! I alerted our Real Estate agent to stop dealing with AHS as his association with them made him look bad.
