The origins of American Home Handyman go back to the end of World War II when Frank Laero Sr. took advantage of his GI Bill after his time in service in the US Navy to learn about the trades of carpentry, plumbing, and electricity.

In the 1960s, Frank began bringing his sons to help him in attending to customers after hours to increase his salary. With six mouths to feed, the additional income was invaluable. His skill and dedication to his work gained him the trust and loyalty of his customers.

In 1978, Jim, Frank's eldest son took over the business, and in 2003, he changed the name of the company to the name we know today, American Home Handyman to honor his father's commitment and service to his country. He served honorably in the US Navy during WWII. Frank passed away in 2016, but the values of honor, integrity, and sincerity he embodied live on in the services we provide.

Jim Laero holds over three decades of experience in the construction trades. In addition to his practical experience, he was a customer design representative at one of the top 100 largest design remodeling firms in the nation and with one of the Pittsburgh Business Times' Top 100 Fastest Growing engineering and architectural firms.
