About 1 year ago, they did a nice job with an installation of a small window air conditioner in my back room. It looks good, and the technician, Wes, put in extra thick plexiglass.

American Handyman Service has provided handyman services at our home 4 times since we arrived in Tucson. Miguel has been our technician for 3 of those visits. Miguel has helped us with various tasks, such as: repairing our sliding glass door, expertly hanging many pictures throughout our home, repairing a console table, and repairing a desk. He is incredibly talented and always professional and kind. Our family is grateful to Miguel and American Handyman for their help.

I am over the moon with the overall experience. I had left a message on Sunday evening, and they called me back 1st thing Monday morning. I had a blank slab interior door that need to be installed. Other companies I called would not even install the door because we did not purchase it from them, or they would not return a phone call. We scheduled for a Friday. Bill was right on time. Bill explained everything to me and what my expectations should be after the install. My expectations were far exceeded. The craftsmanship is superior and the tradesman was very professional. I cannot be more pleased. I highly recommend.

I recently had a remodel done in my Oro Valley house. New access to my master closet, new solid wood doors, barn door to master bath etc. Robert did the work and I could not be more pleased. He showed up on time, worked diligently throughout the say, suggested more improvements as the work progressed that were great, finished on time and cleaned up after himself each day. If you want a great job, call these guys. They are the best.

The business (American Handyman Tucson) is not professional. The owner Herb allotted his handyman 5 hours to do the job without coming out to see what it all entailed. Was then told it would be a 10+ hour job and was given ""advice"" on how to clean the tank-less water heater by going on YouTube instead of staying to do that since he had 5 hours and this would have taken no more then an hour. Contacted the owner to express my disappointment and being unprofessional he yelled and spoke over me so I hung up on him. He called back and cursed my husband out. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY.

Had someone come out to my house yesterday. Being from the East coast I'm used to not so nice individuals. I have only had positive encounters since I moved out here a year ago, until yesterday. Would never recommend this company to anyone. Rude at explaining why they couldn't help me, 15 minutes or less later 51 dollars.

We have used American Handyman (Tucson, AZ) several times before our most recent experience without any problems. This time (late June 2018) we wanted a grab bar installed in one bathroom and asked the handyman to look at a deteriorated sweep on a door. The grab bar was installed but we were charged for the handyman's drill bit which wore out while drilling through tile. OK fine. That's probably fair overhead. The door was adjusted but the sweep would ""probably take another visit and possibly require moving the door"" according to the handyman. (NOTE: I replaced the sweep myself with a $13 replacement from Home Depot without removing the door.)

Our bad rating comes from a roof inspection. The handyman said he did inspections and I agreed for what seemed like a very high price. But getting reliable roof inspections---most are ""free""---is sometimes difficult. I am 74 years old and no longer venture onto gabled roofs.

The handyman inspected the roof came down with camera phone photos and showed me what needed work. His estimate was for about $1500 to ""repair"" tiles and reapply coat to two sections of the roof. We scheduled the work for the first week of July as our monsoon was fast approaching and we were leaving town.

Later that evening I realized that the broken tiles he showed me on the photos were flat. Our home has barrel-shaped Mission tile. I called the following day and asked for (1) a written estimate for the work and (2) copies of the photos of our roof. The handyman asked what he had quoted me at my home but I told him I didn't remember. After some cajoling he sent me a written estimate by email but claimed that he had already deleted the photos. The estimate was for $600 less than the figure he had quoted at home. Sounds like a good deal, right? No. I am sure that the reason the photos had been ""deleted"" was because he may have assumed (correctly) that I had woken up and realized that the broken tiles he showed me were not Mission tiles. Needless to say, we will never use American Handyman (Tucson) again.

American Handyman works by the hour ($51). Therefore you don't know how much a job is going to cost until they are into it. After a while working, the handyman said, ""This is not going to be a quick job."" Okay, too bad but now that you've started, just do it. Three days later it was done--over $1000 to install a pre-hung door. Granted there had to be modifications done and he did know what he was doing and did accomplish the task.
The first day he did say he needed shims to install the door and would have to go get them. Since I don't get paid $51 an hour, I went and got them. Not good planning on his part.
The reason for the low rating is not the hourly system but the dishonest tabulation of the hours. As mentioned by someone, they do charge for driving time (at least to the job). We did not know that but okay. The total number of hours did not look right so we questioned it. We had written down his hours. After some back and forth, he said, ""Maybe I made a mistake"" and he changed the bill. We ended up feeling that we were dealing with someone less than honest and would not hire them again. If you do, keep track of the time!

I would now like to add that the quality of work is as awful as their attitude and price. This was the after product of patching up my drywall. At first I couldn't complain because it was still wet when he left but days later it still looks bad. Cmon! I do a better job than that. How are you guys still in business??

Robert was our handyman. Rick and I could not be more pleased. Robert is amazing!! Robert is funny, polite and paid close attention to detail. Our kitchen is so wonderful. I have hated my kitchen since we moved in. We were finally able to get this work done and I just love love love it. Robert was able to save us money because he was able to find matching cabinets. I asked for more counter space, more drawers and a open kitchen. Robert delivered!!! I can't express how happy I am.
We are going to have him put in our counter tops and floors. He gave us great advise on where to go to look at counter tops and flooring. Can't wait until it's all done.
This is the place to get you house construction done. I am so glad I called them.
Thank You so much Robert for your hard work and dedication to my project.
