Our basement flooded a bit, and I knew it was trouble. The first plumber tried to root-out the clog, but there was more to it. I called several sewer repair shops, but only ADC called me back. Paul came out, and correctly predicted the problem. They worked for two ours, and everything now works for a fourth of the first rooter's estimate. We suffered for five days, but Paul and his team has us back to living well. Call ADC, Paul.

There are different types of plumbing emergencies - those you need someone at ASAP, and those you save up for and can only hope and pray don't break the bank. I'd recommend American Drain for the latter.

This is a company run by a couple, Paul and Rebecca. As far as I can tell, they don't have a website. You just call or text Paul and he'll get back to you when he can. He's busy, so it may be a while. You may need to follow up a couple times to get him to come out. Or he may be able to come out same-day! You never know. That's why I maybe wouldn't recommend him for need-a-plumber-in-the-next-five-minutes services.

However, I couldn't beat Paul's prices. When I bought my house in Sept 2020, the inspector noticed a number of issues - sagging sewer line that needed a re-grade, root intrusions and possibly holes, etc. Nothing that was a fix-today issue, but things that needed attention sooner rather than 5-10 years down the line. Paul gave me quotes for the two areas separately, and they were under what I expected and what I could get from anyone else. Anyone who has had sewer work done knows the pain of the huge quote - you don't really have any options other than to fix the thing.

His guys came out later - yes, after I bugged him a couple times - and did a great job. This was serious work: 30+ feet of re-grading, and digging a 12-ft hole to patch a section of pipe. Was it pretty? No, but it's impossible to be. The crew was friendly, going out of their way to meet my requests like hand-digging an extra small trench for my electrician, adding an extra clean-out and water spigot, and leaving out some nice big boulders for landscaping. They also did their best to patch things up after so I could re-plant grass.

He charged me what he bid, so no surprises after the work was done. In fact when I had a sewer issue after the fact, he came out to take a look and fix it at no cost, just to be sure it wasn't related to his work. It wasn't - it was something else unrelated entirely.

So, overall, if you're looking for an affordable plumber for big projects, and are willing to work through some timing and communication challenges, I'd say American Drain is an option.

Do not hire this company. Paul is a nice enough guy but the communication needs work. I hired him to scope a drain in a structure on my property that I am hoping to make into an ADU. He told me that he could provide a video and email it to me. When he scoped it, there was too much debris in the pipe to tell if it is useable, so he suggested ""jetting"" the pipe.

During the jetting process, there was a HUGE rat shit explosion because the hose was not fully inserted into the pipe before the water was turned on. The whole area was sprayed with rat shit from inside the old pipe and got on newly installed insulation and other personal belongings. His guys also moved an old piece of furniture themselves which damaged it, even after I requested to be informed if it needed to be moved. They left a HUGE mess for me to clean up including a sump that was full of poopy rat water. He packed everything up (including his camera) and I was not able to view the pipe post jet, nor did I get a video. I hired him to scope the drain and get a video and what I got was a rat shit explosion and I'm still unclear as to whether the pipe is a viable option to move forward with.

Paul and his assistant, Rebecca were not very helpful in helping me understand what I actually paid for vs what I intended to pay for and I am no better off after hiring them. If I wanted the video, they wanted to charge another $150!! One thing to note is that Paul discounted the fee of the jetting by 50% which I'm assuming was because of the mishap with the rat poop which I am very grateful for.

Always get a written quote for service and receipt for payment. I didn't get either. Lessened learned.

I contacted this company to perform a sewer line scope on my property. This was required by the City of Portland. I was assured more than once by the owner, Paul, that it would be done with a day of two. After waiting over 4 weeks, numerous texts, and phone calls, I finally gave up. I could never recommend a shoddy business practice like this or a business owner as flaky as theirs.
Their delay creates serious issues with the City and my need to get permits.
