I have used American Air for years and have always been pleased with the service and repairs. They are prompt with their appointment windows. Prices are reasonable and technicians are knowledgeable. The only reason I am giving them a 4 star is because sometimes I've had to wait to get on the schedule and this is not always idea.

My A/C was making a strange sound and running very hot. I left message at 7:30 am on their emergency phone line and Dennis called me back in about 30 minutes. I explained the situation and he immediately said he's pretty sure what the problem was and that he would be out later that morning. He arrived around 10:30 and diagnosed the problem, had to run out for parts but had me up and running by 1:00. I've used American Air for all my service checks and they have always been very professional and honest.

My hot water heater stopped working and I called them because their sticker was for some reason on my appliance. They came out same day to assess for $99 told me my power venter failed and I needed to call Lowe's to get a replacement part sent out since it was under warranty. Said it would be a minimum ""band aid"" repair of $1600 and then went up from there. I called Lowe's to find out I needed to call the manufacturer instead which I did. Manufacturer didn't even know what a power venter part was and after multiple calls back and forth turns out it was the blower assembly that he was referring to- shouldn't you know the proper term for an actual part? Meantime I called 2 other places just to compare repair prices- one place gave me a $200 quote over the phone without even coming out with caveat that there could be additional issues just to be aware. Other place came out to take a look for free and gave me a $253 quote to repair. Ended up going with the $200 place due to availability and it turns out it isn't even the blower assembly that is broken it's something else so they called the manufacturer for us and ordered the actual part it should be here tomorrow and they will come back then to repair. Haven't charged me a dime at this point. I will not ever cAll American air again really disappointed since when you are on hold with them all they talk about is how much they value customer service. They suck!

This company's technician quoted me $1000 to replace the ""voltage distribution system"". I got a second opinion and ended up having to change a $15 capacitor. They clearly were trying to rip me off... consumer beware.

I've tried this company for several items (plumbing, electrical work, heating and air) and every time it's been a worse experience. I kept trying to like them because I like the idea of using one company for all my home maintenance issues. The people that take the appointments do not listen or rely the right information to the technicians, so when they come out to do a job they have no idea what's going on.

For example, I called to do a tune up on my heat pump, made an appointment and told the lady we had a an all electrical system (no gas). The technician that came out had never worked one a heat pump or electric furnace before- he did nothing and actually did damage to our heat pump. Such a waste of $100!

This is just one example. Every time we have used this company there has been some sort of issue. Never again!

Don't waste your time and money- go elsewhere!!

Larry did an amazing job! We had a lot of plumbing issues and he fixed and replaced everything in one day. Larry is very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. He cleaned up and hauled off the old stuff too. When I returned home from work, I could not even tell Larry had been there except for the fixtures were replaced and working properly. I will recommend Larry and American Air to all of my friends. I will also request him for any future issues we may have. Thanks again!!!

After about 20 interactions with this company, I've come to the conclusion that it's hit or miss. Sometimes technicians will be friendly and helpful (AC/Furnace and Plumbing interactions come to mind). The others tend to forget about your ""discount club"" discount or act like they get a commission if they sell you the platinum fix as opposed to the necessary fix (Electric and Plumbing interactions come to mind).

Of the times where things have been realllly bad, I've been given refunds or not charged (as was the case with my previous review). That's good and all, I'd just prefer to not have to guess if it's Jekyll or Hyde that's going to show up when my pipes are leaking.

If you're new to the house owning game, I'd suggest being wary. Not to say they can't do quality work, I'd just say it's not always a given, which can be mentally and financially frustrating. If you have patience and some know-how, I'd say they could be worth the call.

If I could give them negative Stars I would! They're technician stained my quartz sink, bleach the grout between my tiles, broke the faucet handle to my shower comma and 3 weeks later I have had no response from the supervisor Joe or their insurance company, even though they assured me that they would be filing a claim and someone will be contacting me! Absolutely do not use this company, if you don't want anything destroyed or if you expect someone to be accountable for the destruction that they've done!

I asked for the best techs and that's who was sent. They called, were courteous and really knew their stuff. I'm selling my house and they had to satisfy the inspectors report. They went right to the issues and made everything, both electrical and HVAC, up to code. They were very reasonable. I expected to pay more. I would highly recommend them because they can truly do it all!

American Air is a price gouging company.

A technician came to my home to repair my furnace on March 25, 2015. The diagnostic fee was $99.00 which I had no problem with.

The problem was diagnosed as a bad heat sensor. The technician said that the heat sensor was an $8.00 part, would take 10 minutes to install and the heat sensor was still under warranty.

The technician then quoted a total price of $350.00 for the diagnostic fee, the $8.00 heat sensor and the 10 minutes of labor. The $350.00 price was declined, the $99.00 diagnostic fee was paid and the technician left.

The $350.00 price calculates to $251.00 for an $8.00 part an 10 minutes of labor. That is price gouging and illegal in the state of Ohio.

American Air is in contact with all types of people. Many of them are the elderly, the infirm and the underprivileged. They are the last people that should be exposed to price gouging.

The price gouging by American Air has been reported to the Better Business Bureau, the media and the Ohio Attorney General.

American Air is a disgrace to their industry. The company should be ordered to reimburse all of the people they have over charged, fined, put out of business and the owners should be incarcerated.
