Recommended Customer Reviews

In my Opinion, this company uses misleading marketing practices.
I received an anonymous letter, with only a phone number. (When I called the number they turned out to be American Air Conditioning & Heating) The letter is titled SERVICE REMINDER. It then goes on to say that (paraphrased) ""My central Heating system's annual inspection HAS NOT BEEN PERFORMED by them"" - Urging me to call them and schedule the required service.
This vendor does not know me. There has never been any contact between us. They have never visited my property. They don't even know whether I have a central A/C system or not - let alone its maintenance status.
When any vendor uses misleading marketing practices, I tend not to trust it in other areas

Never showed up for the maintenance appointment. Called a few weeks later because they had an opening and said they didn't show up because the couldn't confirm the appointment. It was confirmed idiot.

From the moment I met Brian, I knew that I was in good hands. I have signed up for a service contract, and they have replaced my air ducts and installed a new furnace and air conditioner. The installers have all been very efficient, reliable, neat, and friendly. Brian is an excellent personal tech, reliable, honest, and funny. I can trust his recommendations. I recommend this company without any reservations.

If you want great customer service, I would ""not"" suggest using this company. They only treat you well if you have their service warranty plan. If you don't, forget about it. The technicians are great. The problem is the office and upper management.
I had an all-in-one roof-top a/c and heating unit installed by American Air Conditioning & Heating in 2005. In addition, I purchased the service warranty plan. I had concerns about the installation from the beginning. The installers added a trunk and punched a hole from one section of my existing roof with attic space, and into my den with no attic space.
My main concern was possible leaking, but was assured that they do this type of work all the time, and it would not leak. On the first heavy rain, there was leak from the newly installed vent into my den. After several phone calls to the office, installers came back out, and did a bunch of caulking and tarring, and the leak stopped.
The following year, the leak came back, so I had a roofer come out to assess the situation. He advised that the roof was in great shape, and to have the duct work resealed, and eventually replace the trunk. I had the duct resealed and the roof area re-tarred, and the leak stopped. A few more seasons passed and guess what, the leak is back.
I reached out to American Air Conditioning to see about having the trunk replaced. On the first call, I was transferred to a representative's voicemail, and received no return call. On my second call, I was transferred to Brenda. I explained my situation and Brenda advised that the service call would be $99, since the warranty had lapsed. I explained that the system was operating properly (so no service call was necessary), but there was a problem with the installation. She again advised, in a non-caring tone, that I would need to pay $99 for a service call.
A technician named Ed came out, and I explained the situation (again) to him, and he recommended replacing the trunk. He called his supervisor Brian and explained the situation to him as well. So, I asked Ed for an estimate to replace the trunk. Ed couldn't give me a price until I paid the $99.00. He came back with an astronomical price of $929.00 to replace about 2 1/2 feet of ducting. I wasn't happy with the price, since I only paid $6,000 for the entire system. I asked if they could do better, since it was a faulty installation from the start. Ed advised me to call the office. I called the office and spoke with Brenda again, and asked to speak with Brian who was, of course, gone for the day. This was only 5min after the Technician Ed spoke with him. Brenda said she would give him the message to call me back.
After 2 days there was no call back. I called the office once again and got Brooke, she was actually nice, apologetic, and promised to have someone call me back. She was actually the most pleasant office person I've dealt with so far.
The next day Brenda called me back. She told me she was given a price of $700.00 plus, I would have to purchase a 1 year service warranty package for $99.00. This still adds up to the first initial quote. I counter-offered with $600.00 and Brenda said she would check with the others and she would call me back. A week plus, still no call back.

I made a HUGE mistake when I chose American Air Conditioning & Heating to install a heater at my house. I made this decision based on the salesman's boasting about their great customer service. My experience with their customer service was horrible:
1. They scheduled an appointment to install the heater but did not show until the next day.
2. After they worked all day to removed my old heater they realized the new heater would not fit, so they had to order a different heater and I had to schedule another installation day.
3. When the heater was finally installed under my house, it did not pass inspection because they installed it directly on the ground instead of using a cement pallet. And would you believe the people at this company had the nerve to argue with the building inspector about the necessity of a pallet.
4. One cold rainy day soon after it was installed I turned on the heater, but it did not heat my house. This was because they placed the heater's venting pipe in such a way that allowed large amounts rain water to run directly into the heating unit. Duh!
5. Now for the last 5 months I have been trying to get this company to put some kind of screen on the opening of the vent pipe to prevent rodents from crawling into the heater. The serviceman said this needed to be done and he put in a service request, but after several phone calls nothing has been done. I have a feeling they haven't done anything because I did not renew my service contract with them.

Wrote a review a few weeks ago and it mysteriously disappeared. Coincidentally, I received a phone call from the office manager Brenda last week. Seems as if this company tracks the reviews from Yelp (hopefully they aren't deleting the ones they don't like). Anyhow, Brenda seemed surprised I never received my partial refund promised to me many times over a period of several months. She assured me she would personally bring the check by my house. Guess what? No Brenda and no check. Once again, American has failed to live up to their promises. Stay away from this company or you will regret it.

We had this company come out yesterday. The salesman was completely rude saying that our house was old, but it does have a nice view, who says that? Especially if you had seen our house you would never think that. He quoted us 12 to 15k to put in a unit on the other side of house. He was one of those people, who would smile as he would say something negative about the situation. When I suggested another plan he jokingly said twice, once to my brother who called to ask him some questions and then again to me, "" Oh you want to spend your inheritance."" What?!?! My Mother was totally unnerved and angry, as was I. I would not do business with them even if it was free.

Brenda was very helpful and contacted me immediately to ask what the problems I had. She made sure to send me a gift card to apologize for the problems. She was very sweet.

Just had a salesman leave after having set up an appointment for a bid. Salesman refused to give a bid because I was honest with him and told him I would need to get two other bids before making a decision. The minute he heard that he turned off like a switch. He would only give me general numbers verbally. If I committed to signing a contract that night he would have written it up.
The salesman pointed out to me that they are after all the largest company in Sourthern California and that a company I had used in the past to install a furnance has people from it coming to work for American because there was apparently was a divorce going on with the owner of the other company. I thought that was real unprofessional.
The salesman, named Jim, had a general holier than thou attitude too.
American, just to let you guys know, I am going to get those other estimates, then, as the salesman said, when I am ready to call back American, I won""t.

I was so sad to read the bad reviews below. I use Yelp a lot and when I see a bad review I pass on the company. I've had much better experiences with this company. They are fantastic. Neat and clean, wear booties, go under the house, check everything. Our A/C went out. They came on a Saturday, determined the problem. We were having 14 for dinner on Monday and they came Sunday and fixed the problem. We signed up for the free yearly check up, it seems like everything is covered. They take the time to explain what's going on. George was great! Give this company a shot.
