To get ready for winter, I called Ambassador to do preventative routine maintenance for our nearly new heating/cooling systems (only 4yrs old).
They charged me $679 for 2hrs of service. Total cost was for time/service/labor (no parts were required). They basically tested the systems but did not clean them (said tested pretty good but would have to charge me about $150 more to actually clean anything. Two weeks later part of the heating system was not working properly. So I called Ambassador to do a follow-up, but was told by Ambassador receptionist that they don't guarantee any maintenance work. So I'd have to pay for another visit.

So I agreed to another service call, and after another 2hr visit I was charged an additional $371 to diagnose the problem (a zone power head head needed replacing).

After talking with the repairman, the estimate to replace the part was probably going to be around another $500 +/-). So the repairman kindly told me what part I needed - and I ordered it online and in 5 minutes replaced it myself for $90. BTW The technicians are good, but the company seems to care primarily about generating money (not much thought on getting repeat satisfied customers - a shame!). Do not recommend Ambassador Services.

I had a Unico high velocity HVAC system (primary heat and cooling) installed in July. The crew did a great job minimizing dust and working in difficult conditions in my attic. They did an admirable job with the installation and I was prepared to give a 5 star review. In December l found out that the electric backup heat was not wired properly (1 of 3 stages was working) and the temperature in my house dropped to 52 degrees because the heat pump couldn't keep up with the single digit temps outside. I was told that the team needed to order a part which took several weeks to arrive. Fortunately the weather warmed up for a few weeks while we waited for the part to arrive but the temperatures dipped again around the holidays and it got down as low as 46 degrees inside my house. I was told there was nothing they could do without the part.They did send someone out to the house to wire the thermostat back to my ancient gas boiler so I would have heat in the meantime. (Side note: this was my idea, I'm surprised they did not suggest this in the first place). Once the part came in it took another 2.5 weeks for someone to come install it. I will NEVER work with Ambassador again.

Edit: I feel it important to note that the technicians that came to my house were always courteous, professional, on time, and able to diagnose the problem quickly. I have nothing bad to say about any of any of them. It was the way their management handled the issue that merits the one star review.

They over charge ALOT and that's why will never gives an estimate. They charge hourly which is $98.00 (not bad) but a job that can be done with in an hour will take 5 hours. Technician was on phone for an hour to order for the part, Took 1.5 hours to get the part, 30 mins again on phone to get the itemized billing (which I did not requested), they just want to increase the bill amount. They charge a 40% profit on the parts on top of hourly rate of technician plus $ 60 trip charge. I paid more than $ 600 for a simple pipe connector change. Go to other companies that gives a full estimate for the job. Save your money and don't go to them.

I tried Ambassador Services for some AC work and walked away with mixed impression. Customer service was good in setting up appointment and worker arrived on time. However, when I called back to get some clarification on the HOURLY rate I was charged, the lady promised to have someone call me back but no one ever did. Yet she did call back later to follow-up on whether I wanted the additional work done with no reference to my earlier concern. I felt like it was all about the bottom-line.
