We have been using AM/PM for many years and they are wonderful! Always incredibly responsive, good quality work, and Mitch and his associate are extremely nice people.
We would give them 8 stars if we could!
A few years back our about 10 year old boiler died on what seemed like the coldest day of the year. We were unable to get the plumber who installed it to help since we weren't on his monthly maintenance program. Well after calling around AM/PM (Mitch) agreed to try to help even though he did not work on our particular boiler(Buderus). He got it up and running quickly! We are grateful! Haven't used them until recently and his son came out very willing to resolve our many deferred projects
Frederick M.I don't usually leave bad reviews, but it takes a special kind of devious uncaring workman to make me write one. I called Mitch's service up 6 weeks ago to have him come over to look at my broken gas heater. He came, took the heater apart and he never called me back. After threes days of calling every day, he answered the phone and only said he was looking for a part. That was five weeks ago. To date Mitch has not returned any of my calls. I've had to call another service man to finish the job. Sam Pomeroy 413-522-4737. Knows what he is doing. Call him for help. It is a shame Mitch has to act so rude & unprofessional . I pride myself on trying to use local Hatfield tradesman but I can never in good conscience recommend this man for any type of work. If you are reading this, go find some else now.
Difficult to deal with. Would not give his hourly rate on the phone. He charged for travel time.
Mitch used to be an honest person. I would NOT recommend him to my friends and enemies.
Nothing makes me sadder than leaving a negative review, but I feel obligated to warn people away from AM/PM Plumbing. Mitch, the owner, is dishonest and litigious, and he wasted an enormous amount of my time. My woes began August of last year, when I called him for an estimate for some work on my house, which he provided - so far, so good.
It's standard practice for contractors to provide estimates free of cost, but several weeks later I received a bill from AM/PM Plumbing for $100, for a ""service call"" (the estimate - Mitch never provided me any service of any kind). I received the bill after I informed Mitch I wouldn't be going ahead with one of the items we talked about, a tankless water heater installation, and I got the impression the $100 bill was retaliation for turning down a big-ticket item.
I'd also like to point out that the estimate I received from AM/PM was... fishy. One of the work items had no price - ""pricing to follow"", I think that was the explicit language in place of a dollar amount. Needless to say, I didn't sign the estimate. In fact, I never signed anything with AM/PM, for which I'm extremely grateful.
None of this stopped Mitch from taking me to small claims court last month, on June 10th - for $5,000! All for work that Mitch admitted under oath that he never did, for a contract he admitted I never signed. Needless to say the claim was thrown out of court: docket number 1545C000293, Trial Court of Massachusetts, District Court Department, Small Claims Session, 15 Gothic St. in Northampton, MA. But it was still profoundly inconvenient.
EDIT: Finally, I'd like to point out that there used to be one positive review for AM/PM Plumbing, but, like everything else about this company, it was suspicious. Utterly vague, and the reviewer was named as ""Kim P."", - Kim Prost is the name of Mitch's administrative assistant. I contacted Yelp, and they removed the review.
There are plenty of great plumbers out there. Unfortunately, AM/PM is not one of them.
Bryan K.We called today for help/repairs to our busted pipes. We spoke to Mitch, and asked if he had the time to stop by to assess the damages and quote us. Instead of giving us a simple, ""Yes or No"" reply, he lectured us about how we could have prevented the damages (not that it mattered at this point).
Additionally, like Charlie's review, we were given uncertain responses and he kept repeating himself regardless of what questions we had. For example, we asked if we needed to shut off our power before accessing the main water line in the flooded basement. He would respond with, ""You need to shut the water off"" repeatedly (like 4 times!). I get it! But we don't want to risk getting shocked from hot wires either! His tone was also extremely off putting and unprofessional. He made you feel like you were putting him at a discomfort.
Ultimately, he wouldn't let us create an appointment (he just wanted to come). He wouldn't tell us his rates. He wouldn't tell us if he was going to come that day and, He wouldn't give us a quote. It seems as though Mitch wants to conduct business by coming in, charging what he wants, when he wants. When I told him I would call back he just hung up on me.
