Called them a week ago to come repair a home plumbing project, had a date set, waited for them they didn't show!. We called, they said we didn't leave enough info? They had our telephone number and didn't bother to call! $225 hour quote! We called someone else, $125 hour. Don't bother with these people, apparently they don't need the work. Lots of bad reviews.

My realtor had purchased a home warranty for me when I bought my place 4 years ago. During the first year, the water heater failed, but fortunately was covered, and the home warranty people contacted AM plumbing to install a new one. That one began to leak this week, so I contacted AM Plumbing. They indicated that since the heater had been paid for by the home warranty policy, no further warranty was available on it, and so I would have to pay for a new one and the installation, over $1000 to replace a less than 4 year old water heater. So I tried Winchester Plumbing and Gas - they took the serial #, contacted the manufacturer for me, found out that it WAS still covered, and will be out tomorrow with a new one.

Way overpriced for the amount of work done.
I went through my home warranty to have two leaks fixed. AM Plumbing quoted me at $2500. Home warranty would only cover the leak that was under the house which was quoted at $500 of the total price. So the $2K was going to be out of pocket to fix a leak in the front yard. They dug roughly a 3x3x3 hole with shovels. Found the leak/problem. Someone before had used the wrong fitting to splice two ends of the main water line that runs from the well to the house. Over time the plastic fitting finally broke. They make a parts run to grab about $80 worth of fittings/pipe. Cut and spliced in an overkill amount of materials. I think one $15 metal double barbed fitting would have done the trick. The plastic one lasted a long time before breaking. They showed up around 730 AM, and left about 1130 AM. Spent roughly four hours, one hour of which was a trip to the supply store to get parts to fix the leak. Charged the home warranty $250 for the 30 minutes it took to replace the faulty fitting. Leaves me with $2000 for the 2.5 hours of work done on the leak in the front yard. I am not questioning the quality of work done at all. I'm questioning the amount paid for labor done in the front yard minus the cost of materials. Even if I give them that hour it took to go get parts, which I don't think I should, $1920($80 in parts subtracted) divided by 3.5 hours comes out to $548.57 an hour! NO WAY this should have cost me $2K. If I would have known how easy of a fix it was, I would have done it myself. They made it seem that it was going to be a lot harder than it was. Good guys that came to work on the leak though. One of which was prior military, so I thank him for his service. I was hoping that the quote was way high, so when I see what it took to fix the leak, I said no way will this cost $2K. I was wrong when he brought me the bill. So hopefully there will be no leaks in the future. If there is, I will not be calling AM Plumbing.

When I read the other reviews, I will admit I was skeptical about getting this plumbing company recommended by my Old Republic Home Warranty. I had no choice in the matter except to hire someone on my own and pay all the costs. I have to write this review, because Will, the plumber was great, customer service was exceptional--they even fit me in on a day off when they were already booked! The plumber fixed two of three leaks and had to replace parts. He worked quickly, was efficient and he showed me that the Home Inspector was wrong about the third leak, the shut off valve was fine and didn't need any adjustment. I was amazed at how much time ORHW kept him on the phone while he checked for coverage -- 25 min! They are the ones that need to get their act together. When we are at the mercy of a service company to make things right, we can spend more and often do to get through the final home inspection. I found this company to be supportive and efficient. I understand they did have a change of personnel which was probably the problem prior to the other reviews. If you are referred to them, consider this review Also, be sure you read the Old Republic Warranty. The part to fix the tub was not covered...that is not the plumbers fault!. Apparently, I needed an upgraded plan for that particular part.

I generally don't write reviews, but thinking that the other 5 would discourage you as it did me initially, doesn't seem fair. I will use them again!

Warranty company had me go thru this plumber. It took a week for the ""technician"" to come out, so I purchased some cement at lowes and spread it around the joint where the vent pipe was leaking. This only slowed the leak. The AM technician comes out he states that I fixed the leak. He does not look at anything else and leaves.

I call to complain that the technician did not fix the leak, and they send the same technician back. This time he states that the vent pipe is backing up from the basement and that he will need to bill me $500 to run the capped vent to the cut-out drain (to future basement bathroom). He tells me that there is 25 to 35 gallons of stagnant water blocked in vent pipe after 10 years.

That weekend I drilled a hole in the cap and 2 gallons of clean water flows out, not the 25 to 35 gallons of water and it is fresh and clean.

This is an example of a lazy non-professional plumber who knows how to trouble shoot a leak. This was someone who wanted to do as little as possible and use scare tactics to try and are trying to rip off a home owner. I will never allow this company to send another ""Technician"" to my home again, and it may be time to stop using warranty companies.

I got these people through my home warranty company, Old Republic. I already knew the issue; I needed a new pressure regulator valve, which I had verified as covered under my plan. The plumber Jacob arrived and called Old Republic, receiving authorization to do the repair. A little while later I checked on his progress and he had cut one pipe and was in the process of writing up a bill for me of $825! He said there was a ""little problem"" that the valve was improperly installed and required extra work. Apparently he had called Old Republic back and told them the valve was improperly installed. I told him this was B.S., the plumbing was original and up to code. Since he told Old Republic the valve was improperly installed, they nullified my coverage. I made Jacob fix the pipe he had cut, paid him the $75 trade fee and threw him out of my house. These people are crooks and as a result of their deceptive practices caused Old Republic to deny my insurance claim.

These guys are not professionals. My home warranty company sent AM Plumbing to my home to inspect the sewer main. These guys were not able to resolve the problem and simply took my money and left without providing any plan on how to fix the problem. Most respectable companies will explain the problem(s) to their customer and then propose a solution or provide other professionals to consult if necessary. I had to call the main office eight (8) times over a three (3) day period to get a response on the job and they chose to have the administrative assistant tell me to call the county to ask them to check on the sewer line. That is ridiculous and unprofessional. Additionally the service team was overly concerned about payment for services. That was a red flag. I ultimately dumped AM Plumbing and contracted with a competent contractor in Alexandria without further delay or issue. Their lack of response out my family in limbo for five (5) days. DO NOT use AM Plumbing for anything. They can't get the job done and they can't communicate effectively with their customer.

Absolutely horrible customer service. I scheduled multiple appointments to get my shower and main water valve fixed. AM did not come to my house the first 2 times then claimed they called me the 3rd time and rang the door bell and everything. Which was not the case considering I'm up at that time! Then claims even after the first 2 times they didn't show up that because they ""claim"" I didn't answer the door they want to charge me a rescheduling fee! Absolutely ridiculous terrible company don't waste your time scheduling these incompetent crooks!!

DO NOT HIRE! If I could give 0 stars, I would. Old Republic insurance sent them out to fix a broken pipe for our spigot and promised this would be covered (that's another issue). The plumber arrived and seemed capable enough and diagnosed the issue but told us that Old Republic would not cover this. We called them and they confirmed they would not (again, another issue). Then the plumber (Ray) tells us that it will cost $375 (for 1 hour work and minimal parts, no soldering needed). If we choose not to have him do the work, we still owe him $65 just for coming. We called AM Plumbing and the Office Mgr was rude and apathetic. She would not help. We asked her to have the owners call to adjust the pricing and they called and would not budge. We did not have Ray do the work and had to pay him $65. WHO CHARGES $375/HR for BASIC PLUMBING WORK?? SO TICKED AT THIS COMPANY. DO NOT HIRE THEM.

These guys are a joke. Had them out through our home warrenty company because our water heater was not putting out more than five minutes of hot water. The guy that came out was a clown. He told us the thermostat was set wrong and he adjusted it. Told us everything would be fine. Our water situation was worse after he left. He was talking to us like we had stupid written on our foreheads. After he left I immediately called my home warrenty company back and they sent out another company. When the new company came out within 5 minutes of being here he informed us that our water heater was 20 plus years old and needed to be replaced which he was able to get approved from our home warrenty company and came back days later to install it.

Am plumbing is a joke. I would not recommend them to anyone. It took everything in me to not call them and raise hell.
