I had Altrol Heating, Cooling, & Plumbing upgrade my water pressure tank and well pump with a modern Dab water pump and softening system. The work was excellent service and offered good value. An highly skilled plumber named Mr. Jason and his colleague Andrew also serviced my furnace system. I feel very happy with the work done.

I observed the fact that this company are adept at fixing plumbing issues, yet the crew tend to pushing a new boiler too frequently, which can be irritating. I can reach out to them if needed, yet I do not advise using them.

Yet another case of poor service: I requested a simple repair and tune-up. I won't even complain about the steep prices (which are indeed quite high) as I consented to those prices, but I did not consent to $1400 worth of charges for work they failed to do.

When I called to talk about the discrepancy between my bill and the technician's quoted price, they seemed unable to grasp why I was upset. I spent almost the whole day, including sending them receipts and images, to demonstrate that the $1400 worth of work they asserted was done was not performed. This included their assertion that they replaced an expansion tank. Thankfully, I had photographic evidence to prove that they did not carry out that task.

They claimed they provided glycol that was pumped into the system, but actually, I had acquired the glycol myself, and they just performed the pumping. I had to retrieve my receipt for the glycol I obtained (which I purchased at the suggestion of their technician) before they would correct that charge.

The final straw (as if one was needed) was when, even after being caught charging for work they did not perform, they did not fulfill the technician's offer of a 10% discount on the total service if I joined their VIP program (which I did at that time). They offered a 10% discount on part of the service, but not on the complete service. Like many others on Yelp who have reviewed them, I will not choose Altrol Heating, Cooling, & Plumbing for future services.

I took my old pump, which I could have returned for 300 dollars, and the company requested $1050. They told me that my boiler was functioning, yet we were still cold after five hours with no word from this so-called trustworthy company.

I urge you to read the reviews with 1 star about this company. If I could, I would give them a lower rating if it were possible. They employs unfair practices and pricing to gouge clients for as much money as they can.

Let me share my experience:

I was looking for a simple maintenance service for my boiler, a job I've gotten in the past for about $450 from other companies and Cowles. Regrettably, both were unavailable. Thus, I decided to hire Altrol.

This company charges a callout fee of $150. I can understand this for last-minute requests, but I arranged the service well in advance. I assumed, fine, not a big deal, they were my only option, so I agreed to pay.

In the end, I paid over $1200 dollars. OUTRAGEOUS. This price included a $250 fee for “troubleshooting” because I engaged in a 5-minute chat with the tech about a small issue I've been experiencing. I never requested a repair, and he did not do any troubleshooting. It was just a conversation and nothing more. Had I known it was going to cost me $250, I would have stayed silent.

This is beyond reproach, and I will not be using their services again. I will warn everyone I can to avoid this business like the plague.

Service date: 12/3/21.

I strongly advise against using Altrol Heating, Cooling, & Plumbing. They will inflate their prices and ignore your issue. They claim to offer satisfaction guaranteed but then take advantage of you! I experienced poor service. I paid a lot, yet the problem remained unresolved. Another company fixed the plumbing problem in just minutes. I reached out multiple times to Altrol Heating, Cooling, & Plumbing, but they did not respond! Stay away from them if you value your money!

How should I start? Initially, I suggest you find another company. You should avoid this company.

They billed me $1300 for merely half an hour of labor to install a warranty part replacement. When I inquired about the pricing, I received a disrespectful tone stating that their charges are fixed per service, not by the time spent. No details were provided about the reason for such a steep charge. They completely shut me out.

A month or two later, my boiler broke down (thankfully, it was summer). I had to deal with more delays. No one would call me back.

When they eventually got back to me, I had sourced the part I required online. They insisted they could provide it at a better price and quicker. I called every day for days, even on the weekend. They ignored my calls.

Finally, four days later, I received a call on Wednesday saying, “Oh well, I guess the deal you found was better.” They informed me that their price would be double and take two weeks.

The next day was July 4, so shipping would be delayed another two days according to the supply house. We were now two weeks into this, all because they wouldn't return my calls.

I finally got the part installed and was charged another $1100 for simply plugging in wires and installing a low water cutoff sensor.

On Memorial Day weekend, the low water cutoff stopped working, leaving me without heat. The outside temperature was falling.

I left two voicemails for emergency service. There was no response. I reached out to Arctic Plumbing, and they took care of it quickly. They noted that the low water cutoff sensor was installed very poorly that they were surprised there wasn't glycol spilling everywhere. It looked like it was only two threads in, which probably led to the sensor failing once more.

I reached out to them today and received more excuses about “technical” problems. If you seek clarity on your charges, this is not the right company for that. To you, the fees look like made-up amounts and they won't clarify the costs for you.

Save yourself time, money, and frustration by calling anyone else.

It was hard to justify the expense of over $2500 for replacing my hot water heater. Altrol Heating, Cooling, & Plumbing unexpectedly contacted me after a week for an additional $500 to send an inspector back as the installers present at the initial appointment did not include the earthquake strap.

It's unfortunate that I can't rate this business lower than 1 star. My boiler emitted a terrible odor when the temperature dropped below 20 degrees. Altrol Heating, Cooling, & Plumbing informed me that I needed to install a stack on the side of my house to prevent exhaust from returning to my garage. Currently, my exhaust exits through the back of my house. I asked about the price, and they told me it would be almost $5000. I finally reached out to another service for a second opinion. They provided my boiler with a much-needed tune-up, which Altrol performed every fall. This time, they also adjusted my Telmar system. The price for this work came to $1200. Consequently, my boiler uses 500 gallons less fuel annually, and the odor has disappeared at all temperatures. The technicians from Altrol were always polite and seemed knowledgeable. Nonetheless, I would never use them again, and I have told several friends who had been their customers to stop and try this other service. Everyone has been satisfied, and they have all noticed improvements in their boiler service.

We got a new furnace set up by Altrol Heating, Cooling, & Plumbing some years back, and this winter it went out completely. My husband took a look at it as the company is extremely high-priced for even the smallest things.

My husband up to now has found that when it was set up by the company, components are unsecured, lines are disconnected, major parts are just hanging loose, not sealed from the outdoors, and a piece that is supposed to stop melting water was not put in at all.

This company that originally billed us about 8000 for the replacement furnace and putting in. Once they set up the first one, they had to come back and swap it out because it was flooded and they were unable to repair it!

I expected that for that much money, they would have done it right. Steer clear of them if you want your work done correctly. I wish for you to consider this, Mr. Bridges—Your company has inadequate expertise and excessive fees.

When my husband completes the repairs on this heater, it will likely hold up well, as it needed to be done right initially.
