Update - 11 days after the job: Neither Mr. Algernon Bell nor Mr. Khyre Sherman Jones has done what they both said they would do and reimbursed me for any part of the second plumber I had to hire to fix Mr. Jones' mistakes. You see in his reply to me that he claimed he'd cover the cost, but he hasn't; in fact, as soon as I mentioned a dollar amount he stopped responding to me altogether. Mr. Bell is a liar who doesn't vet his subcontractors and refuses to actually take responsibility for their mistakes, and Khyre Jones of KSJ Plumbing is a liar and a terrible plumber.
I've added photos so you can see just how awful this install was. These were taken after I replaced the carbon monoxide vent myself...when I first went down there it was not connected to the vent cap at all and there was a 1/2 inch gap between the two. We're lucky to be alive.
You're taking a huge risk with your money and possibly your life if you hire this company. You're better off doing the job yourself. I wish I had.
Update - 17 hours after original review: Mr. Bell called me first thing this morning about my review (original text is below the line break). I see he's replied saying he offered to pay for the job. That is true. But I'd posted this review a couple of hours after trying to reach both him and the plumber he sent to me. Neither one of them had responded by the time I posted my original review. Mr. Bell is now distancing himself from this young man and would like everyone to know the person he referred to me is an independent contractor. Fine. Mr. Bell still sent him to me, which I clearly stated in my original review.
I have too much to do today to break down the whole timeline right now but once this has all played out I'll leave any final notes here.
In the meantime: if you decide to hire this company just know 1) Mr. Bell may refer you to someone whose work he doesn't know (this is what he's now saying to me) and 2) if you happen to have a bad experience and choose to post a negative review, Mr. Bell may decide to take time out of both of your days to personally call and scold you for it.
OP follows. It has not been edited.

I needed a water heater replacement. This is a simple job for an actual plumber. The owner, Al Bell, stated he would be out to do the job on a certain day. He didn't show and claimed it was a miscommunication -- but now I wonder.
The next day, he sent a different plumber. This young man did the following:
-Claimed the pilot light wouldn't ignite and that the heater would have to be replaced -- for an additional fee, of course. When he realized I was gonna just sit there and Google water heater pilot light diagrams until I figured it out he suddenly worked out the problem.
-Failed to properly seal the outgoing water pipe. As soon as I turned up the heater and pressure began to build it started leaking everywhere.
-Failed to route the ingoing water pipe around the carbon monoxide vent. That caused the vent to be unseated and CO to pour into my home. My alarm was screaming within 15 minutes of this man leaving. I had to run some errands but stopped back home first and THANK GOD I did. If I hadn't, all of my pets would have been dead by the time I got back and I might have died just in the time it took me to walk around wondering what happened.
-Refused to come back immediately to fix it. Which, upon reflection, is probably a good thing. Who knows what else he would have messed up? For all I know the whole assembly might have exploded a day later.
DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. AL BELL DOES NOT SEND OUT PEOPLE WHO KNOW HOW TO DO THE JOB.
