We were told by 3 franchise plumbing companies that we would need to dig up the cast iron pipe under our basement and replace it. Over 30 years in our home, we've used many different plumbers. When our hot water heater breathed its last breath, we were hard pressed to find someone who could come within the week, including our long-standing HVAC company. Because the weather turned cold, everyone is focused on heating and plumbing issues. I had gotten Jimmy's at Alpha1's name from our neighborhood ListServe. After being turned down by four other firms, he came to inspect it in the same day and his crew efficiently and effectively installed a new one the next day. We have lived in the same house in Glenwood, MD for 23 years and have needed the services of a plumber many times - both routine and emergency issues. Because I have been dissatisfied with the service, the attitude and inflated costs, I have never used the same plumber more than once. That changed today!

I called Alpha-1 Plumbing at 7:45 this morning (a Saturday) and left a message. I got a call back from Jimmy, the owner, who asked me a couple of questions about our situation (kitchen sink faucet was spewing water above and below the sink) and asked me to send him some photos of the faucet and related plumbing. On his way to our house Jimmy stopped at Home Depot and picked up a new faucet - the same model and color in the photo I sent, just in case he needed to replace ours. Upon arrival at our house, Jimmy determined the faucet didn't need to be replaced. It had not been properly installed by another plumber about 18 months ago. Jimmy could have told me I needed a new faucet, marked up the new faucet, billing me for a lot of labor and parts. He did neither. What he did do was fix our faucet and charged me substantially less for labor than what he had quoted over the phone. He also would have to go back to Home Depot to return the faucet he bought.

So I now have a new plumber for life! Don't let his bit of a Brooklyn accent fool you - He's a big pussycat.

I cannot recommend this service more highly. My pipes were frozen for two days and I literally called 100 plumbers who all told me there was nothing I could do or that they didn't have any availability for a week. I got a recommendation for Jimmy at Alpha-1 and he was over at my house within the hour and had the problem fixed within the hour. He was extremely professional and helpful and I totally trusted that he did nothing more than was necessary to fix the problem. He also did a great job explaining the issue to me. I will definitely call Jimmy/Alpha-1 if I ever have another plumbing issue and cannot recommend them more highly.

Alpha-1 Plumbing came highly recommended by a friend of mine. Evan, the plumber, was on time and very professional. He immediately set to work, seemed very knowledgeable, and was very willing to answer my many, many questions about our broken toilet! He explained what the problem was, what he needed to fix it, and how long it would take. He was right about all of it. The price was very reasonable. Evan and the other plumber did their best to clean up the bathroom afterwards. Jimmy, the owner, even followed up with me the next day to make sure we were satisfied.

Jimmy came to our rescue after myplumber.com told me that I had to pay over $10,000 to replace my underground pipes because there was a break in one of them. This was the conclusion of their video inspection guy after their plumber snaked our line for a drain blockage.

I went to Jimmy for a second opinion. His video inspection of the line also came to a stoppage about the same place as marked by the video guy from myplumber.com. Jimmy told me that he cannot make any conclusion based on what we saw on the monitor and snaked the pipe further with different snake head/length setting. More than an hour later, Jimmy cleared the blockage and the video camera had gone pass the mark, all the way toward the main drain. It turns out the so-called breakage in the pipe was nothing more than shoddy work (blockage in the pipe was never fully cleared) done by the previous plumber from myplumber.com.

Jimmy is a God-send and I already put in my recommendation to all my colleagues at work. Jimmy is a real professional in his trade and should put the other wanna be plumbers to shame.

Jimmy is now on my speed dial and I will be calling him from now on for all my plumbing needs. Thank you so much for helping us saving us a boat load of money!

We agree completely with Sean G's review of Jimmy and crew. They ARE simply terrific.

Jimmy was the fourth person and third plumber to come out to our house to try to diagnose why water was pouring out from under our deck. Jimmy diagnosed the problem right away as a water main problem (where the other plumbers thought it was a sewer line problem and had proposed spending lots of money snaking and taking photos of the pipes). Jimmy explained all possible solutions and what could potentially go wrong at each point of the process and what the difference in cost would be from best case scenario to worst case scenario. He inspired confidence.

We had to shut down our water on a Friday afternoon because the basement flooded; Jimmy was out at our house 8 a.m. Saturday morning on what was the hottest day in July (over 100). Fortunately everything went according to best case scenario in replacing the water line and our water was restored by 1 p.m. We were amazed.

Jimmy was thoughtful, analytical, thorough, trustworthy, and very knowledgeable. He is just an all-around great guy. We cannot recommend him enough. ""Woohoo! As good as it gets!"" is exactly how we feel.
