HORRIBLE - I am still shaking my head in disbelief. I called to see if they installed sump pumps - I was told that they did for $4,800 but then said ""there is no way he was going to do it now as he did not want to get muddy under the home"" he then went on to say most likely he was not interested - I asked him if an almost $5,000 was ""not interesting"" he said that he has a right to ""refuse service"" and I ended the call stating that I hoped he never needed work and he hung up on me :(

We used Mike and his team for a pretty major job - water was collecting under our house due to a leaky and old pipe. Before he could come in and replace the pipe, we had to call a water damage company to come in and suck out all the horrific and very smelly water. They then had to dry the crawlspace and add new top soil. Mike recommended an excellent company to do this - Water Damage Recovery in Oakland. After Water Damage Recovery finished their job, AVP came in and worked non-stop to get the job completed. His price was good, he was professional and friendly and I really appreciated him referring me to the right water damage company. I will use AVP for ANY problems that may arise in the future.

I had a very minor leak in one of the bathroom flush valve and a slow flush problem in another bathroom . Saw the review on yelp and mike came down next day. He took hardly 20 mins and both toilets were back in action . Also Mike seemed to be a good guy.

Mike has been very helpful over the past 6 months we've needed a number of things fixed or replaced and I just haven't had the time to do them myself, so it was time to call in a professional. On one occasion he made a no-charge visit to our house when we had a water heater problem to check and see if things were ok and if there was any quick fixes. Ultimately we had to replace the water heater and fix a broken pipe in the wall. Although Mike didn't do that job he did help ensure we didn't have any additional water damage during that visit.
We've used AVP to fix leaking shower faucets (replacing the valves), replace a dead in-sink garbage disposer, and most recently to redo a water main shut-off and replace a sprinkler feed line under the house. Mike showed up about when he promised and his guy did a nice job with replacing and securing the new pipe and hose bib fittings. About the only complaints I have are he forgot to turn the water main (at the street) back on when they were done and they left a bunch of copper fittings when they finished.
Pricing was reasonable, although a little more than I had expected to move the pipe under the house, but other plumbers I spoke with didn't want to deal with the crawl space so at least the job is done and done well.
Mike's a nice guy and when you speak with him you don't feel like he's suggesting any unnecessary work or over-charging you.
We'll keep using AVP for any future plumbing needs. He's local for us (we live in Almaden), he does quality work, he's usually available within a day for routine stuff and is reasonably priced.
Thanks Mike and keep up the good work.

We've had two less-than-ideal interactions with Almaden Valley Plumbing.
(1) A few years ago, based on positive Yelp reviews, I asked Mike to come out to my parents' house to fix a leaky bathtub faucet. He was friendly and took about 30 minutes to repair the faucet. Since we were paying him for an hour of his time, we asked him to take a look at our brand-new Grohe kitchen faucet which had been installed a few months prior---the pull-out spray head was not retracting properly---but he said he didn't have time as he had to get to another job. While it's perfectly understandable that he may not have had enough time to fix it right then and there, it was disappointing that he wouldn't even take the time to look at it since we still had 30 minutes left on the clock.
(2) Cut to today---my parents' bathtub faucet is leaking again, so I decided to give Mike another call since he continues to get positive reviews on Yelp. When I called the number listed above, a woman answered and asked me to hold. After ten minutes of being on hold, I hung up and called back, asking if I could just leave my contact info and have her call me back when she was free. Her response was a rude, irate ""How can I help you?"" Surprised at her hostile tone, I asked, ""I'm sorry, are you angry with me?"" She responded with a louder, even more seething ""How can I help you?"" so I gave up, responded with my own sarcastic ""Thanks for your help, but never mind"" and hung up.
Probably for the best, since we now have an appointment with a plumber recommended by Pacific Sales. And he was polite and professional on the phone! (Although, to be fair, Mike has always been polite and friendly as well)

Garbage disposal jammed! Mike showed up and was super nice -- fixed it right away. He's intelligent, quick, and from what he told me, he has years of experience solving plumbing problems. I wouldn't hesitate to call Almaden Valley Plumbing!

Had a leaking faucet in my laundry for weeks. A company came out to quote - they could not replace the faucet fitting without making a hole in the wall from the other side (my kitchen) so they recommended fitting a washer box instead - which would take a day and a half. I thought this was a little weird so called AVP. Mike quoted me a lower rate for the washer box installation, said it would take half a day max, but then went on to ask about the type of faucet fitting. Turns out he knew how to fix it and had the parts in stock. This morning Jeff did the job in less than an hour (without making any holes in the wall) - he was tidy, quick and courteous, and it cost me way less than installing the box. I'm taking off 1* because AVP were the first plumbers I called, and I didn't hear back from them, twice. Bit of a rocky start, but I'm glad I persisted and went with these guys.

Called 3 different plumbers to replace my water heater, and one was AVP. Mike the owner answered my call himself - gave me the best quote, and arranged to come out the following day with his 2 man crew. They did a fully professional install and follow up in a short time and we had our hot water back with no problems at all.
I like that not only was it a pro install, but he is courteous and promptly returned my calls.
AVP - Mike is my new plumber and I highly recommend him and his family owned business. Great service and attitude gets my 5 stars.

When we were remodeling our kitchen (complete tear out down to the studs) our general contractor hired AVP to tackle a partial re-pipe of the house and the new plumbing for our kitchen (water and a gas line). Jeff and Michael were the team on our job. Both did very good work, but Jeff seemed to be the more experienced of the two. He was friendly, did excellent work, had a strong work ethic, and was very easy to talk with. I wouldn't hesitate to call AVP directly for any future plumbing work, but I would ask that Jeff be on the job. His knowledge and work ethic were the tipping point from good work and a fine experience to a great experience. I wish Yelp would let me give 4.5 stars.

Mike is professional and quick service, good price.
I called him on Thursday morning and he was coming afternoon and with purchase a parts and finished today.
great job
thank you Mike
