William G.I called AllTech to get an HVAC service for my dual system HVACs. The price for fall and spring seasonal appointments was $467 (or $233 per season, or $116 per cooling unit-air handler system). I was told by the individual who took my payment and scheduled my appointment that the fee also included a free plumbing inspection and water heater maintenance. I explained that my water heater system is tankless, and that water heater maintenance in that case would mean a tankless water heater flush. The individual needed to check with the plumbing department and did so, confirming that the maintenance would be a tankless water heater flush.
When the tech arrived for the service appointment about a month later, he told my wife that the maintenance did not include a tankless water heater flush, and that he did not have the tools to conduct the flush, and that it would be an extra $549 and needed to be scheduled separately. I was understandably upset since this felt a lot like a bait and switch. The tech was patient and listened to my concerns, and he promised to call his supervisor who would call me back.
Very shortly thereafter, perhaps five minutes or so, his supervisor Mike from the Plumbing Department called me. After a little bit of discussion, he agreed that AllTech had signed a contract with me to perform these services, and they would stand by their word and honor their contract. I admire honest service providers, and I appreciate Mike's integrity.
The two technicians who worked on my home, Gene Powers and Sergio Brito, were both very knowledgeable, skilled, and patient and detailed in their explanations of their inspections of our HVAC, plumbing system, and water heater. Sergio identified an issue with a component in our HVAC system that was testing out of tolerance, and he replaced the component for $387. This repair seems very expensive and was probably far above the price we would have paid if we had shopped around, but since he was already there at the house and it was simpler to have him complete the repair, we agreed to it. Gene identified the source of a water leak we have experienced with our hot water heater during the aforementioned flush, which had to do with an improperly installed gasket, and he fixed the installation of the gasket as part of reassembling the system during the water heater flush.
During the plumbing check, we were told that our garbage disposal had leaked and needed to be replaced, and the estimate was $984.60 which seems very high. (Equivalent 3/4 hp replacement systems at Home Depot are priced at $150-300, so the labor would be between $700-850 which seems very high if this job can be completed in an hour or so.) The water heater flush estimate we were quoted was $550 on its own, which is basically an hour of labor. We've had this service done previously by a different plumber for $150.
I am giving AllTech five stars because Mike demonstrated integrity and they stood by their contract with me. My wife felt safe and respected by Sergio and Gene, and they were both very expert and knowledgeable in their fields. I feel confident in the service and repairs that they provided, and I think they were honest about the issues they identified. All of that said, AllTech seems to be on the expensive end of the market.
I spent a substantial amount of money to have my hvac replaced per the All Tech recommendation. A week later it's not working and apparently they don't understand that if you state you have a 24/7 emergency line that the weekend is included in those 7 days a week.
make a quick note on the fabulous service I get from for my heat pump. Been using them for years and have had several different out and they're all equally professional and efficient. They do fabulous work, are very careful about keeping things clean, and explain everything they're doing. I found them to be very fair and to work. Would highly recommend them for anyone's heating and cooling system.
Quality of the service is good . But the estimation cost is high. Responding good and Quick.
This review encompasses my entire experience with this company.
Updated Review - 02/12/23 Ending the five years I've subscribed to this company
I return to my initial review of this company. Not sure why one really good plumber for a plumbing check made me change it.
This is a predatory company. They used to change the filter of a whole house humidifier as part of the scheduled fall HVAC tune up, but the ever greeding owner, who frequently decides he can make more money by reducing the basic service and charge more for part of the service.
When my HVAC was serviced back in November, the humidifier fliter was not changed. I wasn't home at the time and my husband didn't notice it.When I called I was told that now including the humidifier would cost and additional $173. After thinking about it I decided I needed it done and scheduled the service. I was told on the phone it would cost $173. The tech came today and told my husband it would be $273.
In the past year at several scheduled appointments were cancelled because the tech scheduled was sick. This happened for the fall tune up twice and then another was cancelled because of snow. All of them took several weeks to get back on the schedule.
I have severed my service agreement with this company.
Updated review. 4/18/23 - very happy with the plumbing check today. I had a couple slow flowing faucets that the plumber cleaned out using a special key. I had been trying to clean the aeration filter since I got that faucet and couldn't figure out why I couldn't get to off. Now I know to make sure the All Tech plumbers that come to do the annual check do it.
Old review-I was happy with them for the first year I had them. Then they came for the fall service check up and suddenly it's an additional $30 to change the humidifier pad which I supplied. It's not total home care as they advertise, it's total home care plus anything they can nickel and dime you for. Cancelling and not using them again.
Update 11/20/19 - They still are ridiculous about the humidifier pad changing, they won't do it if you supply the pad. I understood why they wouldn't mess with the humidifier when they had a faulty valve that was under recall, but they replaced the valve and they still won't change the humidifier pad if you supply it. The pad has nothing to do with a potential leak in the humidifier. I've given them a couple more stars because they did respond quickly to a recent emergency call when we lost heat. However their initial response was that I would have to wait until the next day because they sent all of their technicians home, because of dangerous condition. I had to insist that since I'm paying a monthly fee to get priority service that telling me to go without heat for a day was crap and I had to threaten to cancel my service. There was two inches of slush on the ground and this is Virginia, where it snows pretty regularly, not Florida. I had no problem driving in it with a Prius so not sure why they are afraid their technicians can't drive.
When my furnace suddenly -- but after many, many years -- decided it had served us long enough, I contacted Home Depot to purchase a new one. I'm so thankful Home Depot's installation contractor in my area is AllTech Services. John Whaley came out to my home, and wow is he impressive! After quite a few calculations, both before and after he arrived at the house, he presented several options at various price points, including a detailed explanation of the pros and cons of each. No pressure, just solid information. As I was considering which way to go, I called John multiple times, plaguing him with a stream of questions. The man has the patience of a saint and is as pleasant as he is knowledgeable. He unquestionably had my best interests at heart. Installation went smoothly, with Gerson and Dillion doing a fine job. Overall, an excellent experience!
We had an absolutely horrible experience with AllTech Services. We were encouraged to sign up for the Total Home Care Plan and were then immediately bombarded with calls for ""free inspections"". We had no issue with the initial HVAC inspection however the recent plumbing inspection is a totally different story. The individual sent to our home wasted 4 1/2 hours of our time doing the inspection. We later found that he is a fairly new employee recently out of training. Most of the time was a hard sell for items we do not need or want-- a water softener and replacement water heater. We do have 5 minor leaks which we knew about. Despite him hearing multiple times that we did not want a new water heater or water softener, he spent another approximate half hour in his truck putting together invoice/estimates which totaled ~$26K. When we repeated again that we did not want those items, he said he would call his manager and see if he could get a discount for us. I felt like we were in a used car dealership. The price for the 5 items we want repaired is also exorbitant even with the ""member discount"". Worst of all, we found after the inspection that one of our bathroom showers was not functioning. The knob to turn the water on in the shower spun and no water came out. We reported this and AllTech offered to send someone out to fix it. After this experience we do not trust them enough to come into our home again for plumbing. We did have an experienced professional come out to look at this issue and found that when AllTech took the knob off to do the inspection it was reassembled incorrectly leaving it non-functional. I am now wondering how many other issues we may have that we have not yet noticed. Bottom line, we wasted money on the Total Home Care Plan which we are locked into for a year, wasted 4 1/2 hours of our time for this ""free inspection"", and had to call a reputable plumber to find out why our shower was left not working. While AllTech may blame the employee I think this experience is instead a reflection of AllTech's business practices.
Unable to find leak in the heat pump after $3000 (refrigerant leak test, replacement of coil). Now recommending nitrogen leak test and charging $1200 for it
this company is full of scammers they came out to my house to perform services and got me to sign up for a membership after I signed up for the membership. The technician said I could quit the membership at any time. However, that is not the case they wanted to charge me more than the membership was worth as a buyout option which was $300 this is absurd.
The technician that came out to my house lied to me about what's wrong and tacked on lots of additional parts when in reality all I needed was a high pressure sensor. They stated that it would be cheaper just to replace my six year old system.
I do not recommend All Tech services. They are greedy, a joke, and treat their employees like they are nothing. My advice to anybody looking for HVAC repair. Do not call this company call someone like Michael and sons or a Cypress air cypress air, and Michael and sons are honest, upfront and professional. I can't say the same about All Tech.
I recently had another company give me a second opinion on replacing my capacitor. I thought AllTech was too pricey and I wasn't sure I needed to replace it. The second company did a simple test and concluded it was still good. However after doing some research it turned out that AllTech actually did a better test and legitimately found that the capacitor is failing a bit, an 11% reduction, which suggests it should be replaced. My previous review suggested AllTech was being unethical is trying to replace a piece of equipment that was not bad. I would like to retract that. They performed the correct test and from what I researched, it should be replaced. I am now questioning the company who gave me a second opinion. Bottom line, I think AllTech is a bit pricey but they are professional and knowledgeable.
