We could have not been more impressed with the service that Kevin provided to us in the repair of our air conditioner. He was very thorough and explained the processes and options for us to select our repair. We are definitely asking for Kevin when it is time to have our furnace inspected this winter! Outstanding service!

Excellent telephone and appointment process. Technician very knowledgeable and friendly, as well as organized and tidy. Tankless water heater was malfunctioning because of moths in the blower, etc. Was given three options: $521 for cleaning and flushing system; $1000+ for that plus a bug guard; and $1500+ for a new blower motor ($80 cost) and other items. I chose the cheapest. No parts needed. $200/hour labor cost for 2 1/2 hours of labor.

Had a hose bib burst when the weather was trying to be Spring and needed someone to come out ASAP. First plumber I called was booked for over 2 weeks. Called Allen and they could send someone ""this afternoon"" and that there would be a $49 service call fee if we didn't have a repair made.

Gerad came as promised and besides looking at the bib, did a whole house plumbing, heating and air overview. Prices quoted were from ""the book"" regardless of how much time it would take. Interestingly, the price of the fix was just a bit higher than if we bought their whole house service contract which would take % off the bill that would make it lower.

He was an excellent salesman and I wouldn't want to play poker with him but he replaced the bib and the grass seed didn't all die. Needless to say, we took the contract rather than pay $49 for no repair.

Service - 5 star (including professionalism and friendliness). Received a call when the serviceman was on his way. Office person was very nice.
Price - 1 star (someone has to pay for their picture on their trucks)

Richard arrived on time, completed the work in a timely manner, had to come back with a special order part. All went well.

I have a boiler that heats my house and when it turned on the pipes made a loud noise which I assumed was caused by air in the lines. This had been going on for several months. I didn't know how to address that so I called Allen Plumbing to show me.
2-12-13 2 people came out and I assume 1 was a trainee although they didn't say that. They said it would be $49 unless they got approval from me. They added water to the system and then tested it and couldn't have it make the sound since they fixed it before testing it. After that they opened and closed a lot of the valves and checked the switches and couldn't find anything wrong. They asked if I wanted the rest of the plumbing in my house checkedn and I said no. They charged $49 and left.

2-14-13 Our boiler stopped working and we called them to fix it. A different person came out and said that the Aquastart box was bad and charged $500. They also said all the valves were on the wrong side of the tank which is what caused the hammer and this would cost $5,000 to fix, we declined to do that.

2-15-13 I called the Allen office to talk to the manager about the cooincidence of their guy coming out and 2 days later I need to spend $500. They never called me back.

2-22-13 The boiler went out again. This time another different person came out and said we need a new boiler and it would be $7,000. He changed an auto vent and gas valve thermocouple and charged $725 and then said we should be OK for a couple years since we changed all those parts.

2-25-13 I called and wanted to talk to the manager again and again they didn't call me back.

2-26-13 I called and said if I didn't get a call back I would just go on-line and respond. I wanted someone to explain how I had no problems until their guys showed up.

2-27-13 The service manager finally called me back. He said that the air in my line was steam and that was making the noise and burning up my boiler. None of the 3 different people said anything about that. He said this steam damaged everything and caused things to happen one after another. I tried to explain to him that the noise had been going on for months but he kept cutting me off. He wouldn't agree that it was a pretty large cooincidence that this all happened shortly after they initially looked at my boiler. He said I didn't do what the people told me to which was with the first guy, look at my other plumbing which had nothing to do with the boiler, 2nd guy - change all the valves for $5k, or 3rd guy - install a new boiler. Basically his customer service was blame the customer.

All of the service people were very nice but they all had different theories on what is wrong which doesn't seem right. The hammer sound is gone since the air was flushed out of the line. I won't use them again because their service manager was rude and couldn't answer how I ended up paying $1,300 when all I needed was someone to show me how to take air out of the line.

I called them for a quote to replace our furnace and install air conditioning in our house. The man that came out was very pleasant and professional and I would do business with him again. Unfortunately, the quote that they gave us was twice as much as a quote we got from another local company for the exact same equipment. I'm not exaggerating. The other company quoted $4200 and Allen quoted $8450. I""m not sure how they stay in business by asking that much.

We called Allen Plumbing and Heating to come out and service our furnace when we first moved into our house. They did a fine job, so we decided to join their service plan which was to include an annual service call for the furnace, one for our air conditioner, and a discount on emergency repairs for $10 per month.

They came out once per year after that, instead of twice, and inspected everything during that service call. I was not terribly happy about having the AC serviced during the winter, but out of laziness I went along with it.

This last service call was the final straw. The technician looked at our water heater and told my wife that it was ""too old"" and provided her a $2200 quote for replacement. He did not service the furnace at all, just did a CO test and said it was reading 14ppm and needed to be replaced, tagged it and shut it off. He then told her it was against the law for him to turn it back on, and that she should contact one of their ""comfort specialists"" for a quote on a new furnace.

When I got home I tried to turn it back on (since both CO detectors in the house were reading 0), and had to remove the panels and put them on properly to get the safety switch to close. I immediately called another company in the area to come out and take a look at the furnace (I did not mention anything about Allen). After actually servicing the furnace and replacing a bad limiter for $180, he said that there were no cracks in the heat exchanger and the unit was reading zero CO, and that everything looked great. We had him look at the water heater, and he said that while it was showing some age (it's 10 years old), there was no moisture or excessive corrosion, and it was fine.

I will not be doing any more business with Allen Plumbing and Heating.

One star for showing up on time. Having problem with water hammering needed to replace check valve with a quiet/soft/smart check valve. Plumber did not know what it is.

Talk about price gouging! These people should be called crooks! Estimate for new water heater was over 2100 dollars. They could not give me exact break down of part cost to justify. To install a heater I purchased, they still claimed it would cost 1700 dollars. In the meantime, as he was writing estimate, he kept trying to sell me other things, like a home heat/air maintainance program. I sent him out the door!

One of our tenants called Allen Plumbing to fix a leaking connecting tube between a toilet and the supply valve because the ceiling below was showing a water stain. This part at Home Depot would have cost under $10 and should have taken a plumber 15 minutes to install but, Allen billed us for about $400. Catch this. when the tenant moved out we discovered that the leak was from a second upstairs bath!! Would not recommend Alllen Plumbing to anyone.
PS: When my wife called to complain they were rude and impatient and not willing to address the issue.
