I had a bathtub with standing water. No matter how many products I bought or baking soda and vinegar treatments I did, still standing water. I 'Yelped' for help, read a few reviews and landed on All Rooter and Plumbing. A very lucky day for me. I left a message and emailed, he was prompt in his response and was willing to come the same day, no drama. He fit me in. When he arrived, he came to work! He was thorough and very professional, thoughtful and kind. He cleaned out my bath drain (the trap) in no time. I am forever grateful to Bert and would reccomend him to anyone who needed a job well done!
Jacqueline L.We've been having a back up in our laundry room floor drain in part because the catch basin would not empty into the main sewer line. I thought it was a clog clos to the catch basin which I'm sure functioned as a cistern at some point in the last millennium. In any event, I knew it was time for a plumber since all my attempts at rodding were for naught.
On a Saturday, I scrounged Yelp for a sewer specialist and sent a couple of messages out via the interface. Within 20 or so minutes, I got an email from All Rooter and we scheduled an estimate for the following Tuesday. Bert showed up on time as was promised, he listened to my tale and my theories, and told me he thought it was the main line. After analyzing our plumbing, he said we need to look at the clean out. I knew roughly where it was located, so we started out the search. After about 10 minutes, finally with the assist of a metal detector, the plug was found, just where I said it would be. I tell him, ""I know my house.""
Bert was unable to open it. He suggested that he would have to break it, but all I would have to pay for is a new plug. Voila, with a little elbow and other grease, the drain opens and we look inside. No water flowing out, no matter how many times I flushed the (unused) toilet. Again, he says ""It's the main line. We should rod and look with the camera."" Still incredulous, I say, so what if the cistern doesn't drain? Bert says, ""so then you don't pay"". He quotes a decent price, and I agree, let's go on with it. Today. Now. On the spot.
Bert and his sidekick rod out the drain. Tree roots, of course, from our 100+ year old maple up front. I sneak into the back where the cistern is, remove the cover, and voila! The cistern has drained.
Bert didn't stop there. He continued to rod and pull out roots. He put down the camera and let me take a look. He rods out to the street and back to our main line. He doesn't stop until he is sure we have a clear flowing drain. He suggests yearly maintenance.
However, through the camera, he identifies an additional problem. It's not something that we can do today, but we'll take care of that down the line. The main line is clear, the cistern has drained, and I got to see it all through the camera.
He and his pal clean up. We discuss the future work and he quotes me a good price. I ask him to make sure that the laundry room drain is working. He says, ""the laundry room drains into the main line."" I say, nope, it drains into the cistern. He suggests running water to see where it goes, and of course, it goes into the cistern. Bert says, ""You know your house.""
As a homeowner and a landlord, I keep my eye on repair and maintenance issues. I'm not afraid to get dirty or work up a sweat. When I hire a professional, if it's not better than I can do as a rookie, it's a do over.
This was not a do-over. This is a qualified, concerned, respectful plumber who will be called back for future work. I now have a real plumber, his card, his cell, his email, and I would give him more than 5 stars if I could. Bravo! I didn't have to get dirty or work up a sweat. And I did learn something in the process.
I can't think of any small business that deserves its 5-star rating more than Bert at All Rooter & Plumbing. Bert is the consummate professional - quickly answering emails/calls/texts, showing up to appointments on time, and providing 1st rate service. But what really impresses me is his honesty, integrity, and work ethic.
Sounds a little over the top? Let me explain...
Like most homeowners, there's aspects of my home that completely elude me. Plumbing is one of those, and I don't hesitate calling in the pros when the occasion calls - and that occasion came calling last night. The basement toilet of our 100-year-old bungalow started backing up, and didn't clear after some pretty aggressive plunging. Then the drain in the shower stall (next to the toilet) wouldn't drain, and had a few inches of standing water. The water level in the toilet lowered to almost nothing, and started to bubble. Worst of all, the sewage ejector pump starting backing up (and smelling as you'd probably expect). Not pleasant, and not easily fixable, especially at 1AM on a Wednesday.
Within minutes, I had my wife looking up some local plumbers, while I left messages with the 4-5 most promising ones. Bert @ All Rooter was not only the first to call me in the morning, but the ONLY one to get back to me, period. And he not only made an appointment to swing by that same day, but showed up on time.
But here's where I was truly blown away - after looking at the problem, and guessing it was a bad ejector pump, he went to work. After 4-5 minutes, Bert called me over, and showed me a filthy ball of baby wipes that had clogged the pipes. Once that was cleared out, the problem was solved - and when I reached for the checkbook, he said ""no charge"".
Bert could have easily replaced that pump, charged me for it, and I'd have been none the wiser. And in all likelihood, I'd have probably written a glowing Yelp review on top of it all. And there'd have been zero chance I'd have caught it.
If it were possible to give Bert more than 5 stars, I would. He deserves it in my book. However, things being what they are, All Rooter will have to settle for my absolutely highest recommendation, my thanks, my respect, and my future business.
Doctor C.Bert is kind and thoughtful and does good work, all the 5 star reviews are well earned! We were closing on a house and needed an honest plumber to tell us about a sewer line that was rife with problems. The seller's plumber was continually lying about work that he said was done and every time we asked Bert to confirm the other plumber's work, the other plumber had not done the work. I was grateful to Bert for his availability and patience with the tumultuous process we had up to our house purchase/closing. He made multiple trips to scope the sewer line (oh, the drama!) and were thankful to have him on our side. When we finally got to the point that we were either going to get the house or not because of the communication problems around the sewer line, Bert stepped in and said he could do all the work needed for a set amount. We trusted him and bought the house, and we're so glad we did both! The execution of the work done by Bert was professional and prompt. Bert lets you know when he's going to be somewhere, and he follows through (so rare in any business!). Bottom line: Bert is the kind of person you can count on to do stellar work and to get the job done right.
Sunny R.I cant say enough to recommend this guy. Bert is not only a skilled plumber but also a good human being. I had a major plumbing issue that needed major work - basically needed to replace the whole underground drain to sewer line. Bert came and used camera to identify the issue and gave me a price thats literally impossible to beat. Even with such a great price, he did not compromise the quality of work and product he used for the total replacement. I was amazed to see his professionalism and care for the work. I already told him, he is my go to person from now on. Just want to thank him for everything.
We needed repairs to 2 of our toilets and got an immediate response and Bert arrived on time the following day. I then got a text from him stating he had done some homework and discovered that our tank had a recall. I was able to take that information and call the manufacturer and in 2 days had a brand new tank delivered for free. Would never have known about this and Bert saved us a lot of money. He then returned and had all repairs done within an hour. Super nice guy and knows his stuff. Even used the $50 off coupon for the labor. Excellent company and Bert was fantastic. Highly recommend using this company!
Lorilin M.You could say it was the perfect storm...
1) I went out of town for a week, during which time my husband decided his butt was too good for the thinner toilet paper we usually use (because we live in a very old house with old pipes).
2) When I got back, my six-year old daughter decided to express her anger over me going on vacation by putting half a roll of this thicker toilet paper in the toilet and then taking a man-sized dump on top of it. And then she left it there for me to find.
3) Which I did (thanks, sweetheart!), but when I tried to flush it all down...
4) The toilet said nope.
Over the next two days, I tried to unclog the toilet many, many times, using everything I could think of. I tried three types of plungers, and even soap and boiling water, then baking soda and vinegar, when I got desperate. Finally, on Sunday morning, when I knew friends were coming over in just a few hours to watch the Super Bowl, I decided to call a plumber.
I messaged three companies, and All Rooter & Plumbing was the only one who responded to me. Bert messaged me back quickly through yelp and said he could be at my house in a couple hours--and he was. Bert was friendly and professional, worked quickly, and, most importantly, he unclogged the toilet. It cost us a small fortune, but he got the job done. I'm grateful, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend All Rooter & Plumbing to anyone in a similar situation.
This company is truly great. I contacted them as well as several other plumbers for a leak I had underneath my bathtub and they were the only ones that came back with an estimate that seemed reasonable.
I had 1 other plumber come to my house to asses the job and he flat out refused to do the work, complaining that there wasn't enough room for him to work.
Burt came to my house and admitted very kindly that the job was much tougher than he had expected from the picture I had sent him due to the lack of space and mentioned that the job might be more expensive that he had originally quoted and profusely apologized. But I expected it given that the other plumber had turned down the job all together.
We agreed to a new price, he went right to work and fixed it in no time!
I must admit that I didn't know what to think about this company at first given that all their reviews were positive and I had never seen that before, but that's because they are really a great honest company! Hard to come by these days.
I let him know that his yelp reviews were all correct and told him that I would be adding my positive review too, and he told me that he had a $50 discount for people that found him through yelp, so that was a plus!
I will most certainly be contacting him again for any plumbing related problems!
Thanks again Burt!
Lisanne F.After finding out my regular plumber didn't own a waterproof camera, I looked on Yelp to find a sewer expert. The 5-star reviews for All Rooter & Plumbing are correct. Bert is a careful, conscientious, thorough, hard-working dude who knows sewer systems.
Bert charges by the job, which ended up being less than our regular plumber would have charged by the hour.
Bert is the upmost professional. He came out at the time he said, was able to quickly figure out what the problem was, and gave me the estimate. He showed me exactly what he had to do while he was unclogging my sewer lines. He gave me a lot of good plumbing advice for being a first time owner. Thank you
