JEFF AND BRIAN YOU KNOW WHO WROTE THIS IF YOU HAVE AN ISSUE COME VISIT ME
All Island Mechanical (AIM) was scheduled between 8 & 9 am. At 10:30 I called & was assured that plumber would be here ""soon"". Called again at 1:30 & was told between 4 & 6. It is now after 5 pm & no plumber. Not once did they call me to let me know of delay - I had to call to find anything. They are unreliable & I would not recommend AIM & would never call them again.
Horrendous customer service. Had an appointment scheduled for today and no one showed up. Called the company to find out what happened and was told the technician had an emergency and is on the way. Would have been nice to get a phone call. Found out would have been within the hour which would have been too late so I tried to reschedule. Was told the time I need could run into the same issue with emergencies. I didn't even get an apology from the young woman nor did she try to go above and beyond to attempt to keep me. Flat out told her I'll be going to another company.
Lousy company. They installed central ac in my house. Since the installation I had only problems, defective condenser. Defective air handler, leaks many times. Poor installation. I will have to get another company to install new system. I have requested a full refund from Aim. If needed I will peruse it legally. Really bad situation.
I called Aim Mechanical because my central A/C wasn't working. The tech came out to diagnose the problem. He was in my attic where the unit is for about 10 minutes and told me my drain pan was full which tripped the protection switch to shut the AC off. He told me he repositioned the pan so the switch would turn the unit back on. I'm not an AC export so I thought this would be the fix..... But no, he repositioned the pan which eventually sent water running through my attic and into my ceiling. I now have 6 feet water stains on the ceiling and it's still wet!! Sadly I called the Jeff, the owner, multiple times and even though he sad he would get back to me he never attempted to rectify this!! I did ask for my money back and he would not even respond to me. His secretary told me that she was very sorry but he wasn't going to return my money... he couldn't even call me himself, VERY VERY disappointed and stuck with a wet stained ceiling.
Do not recommend this company. At the VERY LEAST I would expect the owner to call me back after he said he would and help fix the mess his tech caused!
Joe N.I paid over $10,000 to have them install a brand new hvac system in my house when I did a second story extension. Turns out what a mistake to use them. I had them install brand new $200 ecobee thermostats ($400 total) with the new install. In the first year I had nothing but problems with the unit frying the stats over and over after ecobee was very accommodating and providing me with replacements each time. Sure enough after my 1 yr warranty on the stats they still kept having problems. Jeff tells me it's not his fault and continues to blame the ecobee product. Finally I said fine I'll spend another $400 to get the Honeywell stats that he recommended, and I said if the ecobee were the problem then I'll give him $400 to come and install the Honeywell's. Once the guy got to my house the hvac unit was doing the EXACT same thing, it wasn't until finally they put a transducer separately to power the stats. It was shorting out the Honeywell units initially proving that it was not the ecobee fault. Had that been done from the start I wouldn't have had to spend an extra $400 on stats but of course Jeff and his team could not figure it out for over a year. Now they want me to pay the $400, and because I refused they have been harassing me calling my phone over and over and over. Not to mention Jeff somehow hacked my system and shut off my current system which I had to troubleshoot to reconfigure. I have two young kids in the house while everyone is quarantined for corona virus. I would never do business with this company again as they not only have no clue what they're doing, but after spending over $10k on a brand new system that has had nothing but issues you would think he wouldn't be harassing me and my family for $400. Do not use All Island Mechanical!!! I'd give it 0 stars if I could.
Unbelievably overpriced, I'll never call them again.
I called them today because my furnace was not blowing hot air very strongly. They checked the furnace and determined that the filter was dirty and needed to be replaced. I happened to have a new filter so that's what was used and the problem was solved. The serviceman was there for about a half an hour. The charge was $180 + tax for a total of $195. This was not an emergency appointment, it was scheduled on a weekday.
Shame on me for not checking the filter, shame on them for charging such an outrageous price. I can't imagine what they would have charged if they actually had to do some real work. I once had to call an emergency furnace repairman and he charged $175, still cheaper than All Island Mechanical's $180.
Do not use this company - they will grossly overcharge you!
Called All Island when the blower motor stopped working in my heater. The first night, their visit was $200 just for the repairman to remove the old motor. The next day, the charge was OVER $1,000 more, for the parts and labor to replace the motor! The parts cost about $500, and there were labor charges of close to $500, representing 5 hours of work!
When I spoke to Jeff regarding why the installation 'took' 5 hours, he said the mechanic had to drive around for 3 hours to obtain the new motor! This is a Trane gas boiler, not an antique heating system! Jeff refused to provide any refund, noting the $1,000 already reflected a discount. Sure.
Even though this company is among the top search results for boiler repairs on Google, do not use them. They will rip you off.
My mother had AIM show up to the house to unfreeze 1 pipe in the house. She was referred by a well known plumber Ralph. Jeff the owner of the company had Bill show up to unfreeze the pipe and the actual bill at the end was OUTRAGEOUS. Bill must have actually done 45 min of real labor and sat around waiting for the pipes to unfreeze for a maximum of 1 hour and half. That is a total of 2 hours and half at most and Bill wrote up the reciept/bill for $1050! When my mother called AIM at first they never told her an hourly rate or anything but the plumber who referred her said it would be no more than 300-400$. AIM is completely at fault for doing a job without explaining any prices which Bill claimed was supposed to have been previously discussed on the phone...WHICH IT WASNT! While Bill was waiting for the pipes to unfreeze, he had Jeff (the owner) send his son Brandon and some other individual ""bobby"" for a job that was already complete. Keep in mind that these individuals showed up when Bill was practically getting ready to leave. They decided to add $65 to the bill for ""Brandon's work"" which in essence was (standing around for 50 min - 1 hour with Bill trying to call up Jeff to figure out what they were going to do because my mother refused to get ripped off by a bunch of thieves). Jeff decided to be ""oh so kind"" and lower the bill from 1050 to 750 which is still outrageous. This is not the way any plumber, HVAC or anyone in that trade should be running their practice. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, and my mom will not be getting ripped off. Jeff my mother will be glad to see you in court!
Anyone who doesn't want to get screwed in the end of the day should not contact this company for any work to be done on their house or building!
This is the first time I am writing a review online...this shows how passionate I am about this experience.
I have used AIM twice before. They were aswsome at first...The 3rd time I thought they could be trusted...not the case. Here is a brief run down of what happened when I needed to have a HVAC Blower motor replaced.
1) Charged me $180 dollars for a service call this included the service call for 90$ and another 90$ for the first hour to determine the motor was shot. I asked if service call included ANY TIME for labor...response...no
2) 3 days later no word from the office about the replacement. I call and inquire and they say the left a VM at home for us to authorize the purchase....there never was a VM left
3) Scheduled to do job from 11-2pm on a Tuesday...THEY NEVER SHOWED...They called once and pushed it to 2-4pm. By 5:30pm there was no call from them and they NEVER SHOWED. I called at 5:30pm...they had no idea where tech was. My wife sat home ALL DAY for them NOT SHOW. She works full time...NO APOLOGY about not showing
4) Reschedule following day from 8-8:30am...They show at 9:15am...Install motor..and charge another hour of labor at 90$
5) Come home to find emergency switch for system in off position. SO...he never tested the system before he left....and tech removed a large filter (NOT THE FILTER YOU CHANGE 4-5 a year on your own) from the ducts.. He NEVER replaced it, NEVER cleaned it. He left it in the utlitiy closet. NEVER informed anyone that he had removed it and that it would need to be replaced or cleaned.
6) I call next day to inquire about what to do about filter..NO CALL BACK...BUT they called back 5 DAYS LATER looking for the check....THE TECH LOST THE CHECK!!!
7) I make stink about filter not being changed or replaced and not given any instructions on what to do...They tell me they informed my wife and it was our responsibilty to buy this filter and replace it ourselves. What tradesman finishes a job with the statement ""you need to go out and buy it and replace it yourself.""???
8) I take 30$ off for the cancelled check and mail it to them 2 days later....Get a call from them 3 days later looking for payment. - need to remind them they lost the check not me.
Total cost of job: 340$ for parts (fair) $270 dollars for labor to replace a motor and not finish the job.
I will never call AIM again after this experience.
