Thank goodness for Jorge! I discovered a major link under my kitchen sink right before heading off to work in the morning, called several plumbers and Jorge was the ONLY one who called back within 15 minutes. He offered to come out later in the day and he even offered to call and text me when he was on his way...and he did. He arrived on time, was beyond professional and courteous. Everything was repaired within an hour and a half and his rates are reasonable. As well, he is an all around friendly, sweet guy. I am grateful that I have now found a plumber whom I can trust. Had a bathroom leak that required immediate attention and ended up calling Alfa Plumbing because they're nearby. Luckily, Jorge said he'd be able to come by soon for a free estimate. He was on time (a little early, actually!), polite and friendly, ready to go. At the scene he worked quickly to assess the problem and was exceedingly patient with explaining all of my various options, their solutions, and how much each of them would cost, including projections on potential future potential scenarios down the line. In the end I needed a full toilet replacement, the entire process of which was taken care of just as cleanly as the estimate. Thumbs up for a painless plumbing experience.

After having two companies that were referred by home depot's referral service not show up for doing an estimate- I had to take vacation time to be at my house-I was reluctant to call any company that sends out an estimator who is only that and not the person actually doing the repair. There seems to be an accountability and ownership issue with these bigger companies with their fleet of vans and ultra fancy websites. So,I did a google search for local plumbers and found Alfa, then yelped him and was impressed with all the five star reviews. Well, Jorge returned my call within a few minutes of me calling him, he showed up as promised for the estimate and explained everything that was going on with my plumbing and answered all my questions. He did the work himself, not someone else and that would have happened with a bigger company, and he did it ahead of the time promised, within his estimate, and gave me prompt paperwork at the end.
I think he deserves a good shout-out and all the five stars he has received on yelp.

Even before I bought my home in El Cerrito, I could tell that it had plenty of pressure in the water lines. In the next 15 months, I had three water leaks - refrigerator ice maker line, and bathroom faucets (two!). I finally got wise - that this is exactly what having too-high water pressure could do. So I called a couple of local plumbers - including Alfa.

I got a call back the same afternoon from Jorge at Alfa. After a few questions back and forth, I could tell that he was approaching the project from a thoughtful perspective. I could tell that he knew what he was talking about, and also that he knew what he needed to know about my home and its plumbing. We arranged for him to visit the next day to see it and check the pressure.

The next morning, I got a call from the other local plumber I had called, and he agreed to come by that day as well. Jorge arrived on time to check the pressure. It was a bit over 100 psi - way too high. He quoted me a price for installing the water pressure regulator.

As he was getting ready to leave, the other guy showed up. He asked no questions, and quoted me a price that was reasonable - and lower. He didn't bring a water pressure gauge. He didn't ask me what the water pressure was; he only seemed interested in in telling me how easy the job would be, and how quickly he could get it done.

I ended up choosing Alfa because of Jorge. We set up a date and time. He and his assistant arrived on time. He also kindly helped with three other small plumbing questions in my home - including adjusting the drain lever on my 75 year old bathtub. He did a little extra work in installing the regulator as well - replacing the water spigot, the main shut-off valve - and some PVC line as well.

I will recommend him to my friends and neighbors.

We were required to replace the sewer lateral for our place in Albany within a year of buying the property and as time drew near we gathered quotes from 3 different services. We like to work with local companies and feel very fortunate that Jorge was able to work with us from Alfa. Jorge gave us a very reasonable initial estimate that ended up being right on target with the work that was done. He explained the steps they would take, got the work done in one day, with a short follow up later to meet with the city inspector. He helped with the paperwork required by the city. He definitely earned our trust and respect through his professional and personable manner. Later, when we had an leaky pipe issue with our washer/dryer, we were so glad that he was available to work with us again. Couldn't be happier with Jorge!
