The booking was excellent. Their website has a very responsive chat feature which made scheduling my appointment a snap.

I had a slight natural gas leak in my basement that was coming from the elbow joint of my high efficiency water heater. Getting this repaired was my top priority. I figured that while I have someone coming, I might as well get a few other repairs taken care of too. So my work also included replacing the leaky hose bib on the outside of my house, as well as cutting in a new hose isolation valve and low point drain for the hose to make winterizing easier in the future, and also a general servicing of the two H.E. water heaters.

Since the gas leak was the priority, they sent someone out right away to do that work. The technician was on time, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. He got the gas leak fixed in a short amount of time, and then we scheduled the follow-up visit for the lower priority items.

Due to the pandemic, we both wore face masks and did our best to keep 6 feet apart. Signing the work order and processing the payment was all done via smartphone which allowed us to keep distant. Overall I felt very safe and was able to keep distant.

I could not be happier with Akian Plumbing and and HVAC! Today, I had my faucet replaced and dispose-all fixed and Bill who has had 30 years of experience was efficient, friendly and professional. Everything about this company is great from setting up an appointment to on-time arrival and they charge a fair price. I even received a text with the name and photo of my serviceman before he arrived. The work was done perfectly and Bill provided me with helpful tips about using the equipment that he installed. I will definitely hire Akian Plumbing and HVAC again in the future.

I love this place. I first used them during a weekend emergency last year. My toilet was leaking out of the back. I was able to txt with them, and send them a vid of the issue. The response time was so fast, and the problem was rectified quickly.
Recently I needed to replace the bowl of a pedestal sink, and a garbage disposal.
They had an opening days ahead of our target date for scheduling. They came over the same day, and did all the work perfectly, in under 2 hours. Super pleasant processes each time. The plumbers have been so awesome.
And I appreciate the well designed process- you can email them and get everything set up without a call. You can txt with them. This is important for me because I'm at work all day and taking a call is so hard.
It's just nice to have an easy process. Especially in an emergency.

I hired them to repair and replace the waste/sewer lines in my condo. I had several other plumbers look at it before Akian, and they all told me that it would be too complicated to take on. In contrast, Akian sent over a team of pipe experts to provide me with an estimate. They finished up the work exactly on schedule and at the budget they gave me. The crew was thorough and efficient and cleaned up the place when they were done. They were also friendly, responsive, and punctual. I'd highly recommend them.

Here are the high (sic) points:
This was a visit to snake a backed-up waste pipe and determine the cause. Five days after their visit, I got an experienced plumber (recommended by several people, NOT based on rando reviews) and it was like night and day.
1. After hours of what seemed like flailing to determine the source of the problem (and having a lot of trouble with the snaking), the two young Akian plumbers finally decided on a solution. The estimate for the suggested ""fix"" was not only a ridiculous price, but here's what the experienced plumber told me: ""I could do this work for you and it would cost $xxxx (one-QUARTER of Akian's estimate, which he didn't know about) and I'd make a nice profit, but I wouldn't recommend that you waste your money because this isn't the cause of the backups.""
2. The Akian guys broke a snake, which the experienced plumber told me was an unusually small snake to use for a main drain They left the broken portion of the snake in the utility sink. Experienced plumber told me that if the rest of the snake was still in the system, I'd have a serious problem, but as far as I know, they got it out.
3. They used a video camera to see if they could tell what was going on in the pipes out to the street. (This costs extra.) I was supposed to get a copy of the video, and when I called about it because they failed to give me a copy when they left, I learned that THEY HAD FAILED TO HIT ""RECORD."" So no recording existed.
There's a lot more. The only good things: (1) they wore masks in this time of COVID, and (2) they seemed to be trying really hard even though a drain cleaning company had not had so much trouble snaking the drain. The whole point of getting a plumbing company was that drain cleaners are not plumbers, so although the drain cleaners did a great job snaking, they could not diagnose the problem nor fix it. But as it turned out, neither could these plumbers. It was an overall painful and bad experience, and one I would not recommend, especially after having the benefit of an experienced and competent plumber only 5 days later.

Had a terrible experience with Akian. They came out to handle a plumbing issue we had in a ceiling area that was hard to access. They said they'd need to come back the next day to handle it. That visit cost us $300 to assess the issue. They came back the next day and said they'd need to install scaffolding to gain access to the area but they couldn't do it that day. They then went totally cold on us knowing that this issue was preventing 3 units in our building from using their water. We'd call 4 times and get back 1 response saying they were working on it. To hedge our bets we got someone else here, he walked in, and the problem was fixed in an hour for half the price Akian was going to charge. Akian acted with no urgency and tried to rip us off.

Professional and quick service. I found all the staff to be very helpful and friendly. Appreciated that they were easy to get ahold of and gave me an accurate window of when they would arrive. Followed covid precautions and social distancing well. The staff was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions and made great suggestions for general and quick maintenance that would save me money in the long run. Also found their quotes to be competitive.

I called them three weeks ago and left a message for a major plumbing problem in the bathroom and they never returned my call however Steve called me and explained to me that their new answering machine has a glitch and does not record some of the messages !
The fact that he cared and spend the time researching the problem makes me happy that if there is a next time I will call them first and give them another chance
Steve is courteous and really cares about his customers satisfactions and values his employees
