I have been using A I Russell as a plumbing and heating service for more than 30 years. During that period of time A I Russell has repaired more than 100 plumbing problems for me and NOT ONCE have they let me down. They are always on time, bring the parts they are supposed to have, order parts for immediate delivery, or go get parts that aren't normally kept on hand by them or any other plumbing company.

In the case of Chris K. I know that A I Russell was called to respond to a leak, and I also know that there were other plumbing companies in the apartment building at the time. How do I know? Because I know the other people from the other companies and they wouldn't or couldn't take the job. A I Russell was called to respond to a ""emergency"", which turned out to be a leaky valve. Not having the specific valve an attempt was made to stop the leak by repacking the valve. When that failed they told the wonderful person who cares for the building that a new valve needed to be purchased and they were told to supply one. Back and forth for parts, additional labor, and the arrogance of the party the job was being done for. I think in the end they were charged for an hours labor, and the job was done right, not as described by Chris K., who is the very reason contractors don't want to work in his building. Whose the crook? The people who come in to do the job at the drop of a hat and expect to be paid, or the guy who runs the building and thinks he can beat people up with lies and innuendo in order to keep from paying them. A I Russell will always be my plumbing or heating company of choice.

And NO, I do not work for A I Russell.

Bunch of crooks. First of all, they charge $125/hour, wow! Secondly, not only do they start counting from the time they leave their shop but they also charge you that rate if they have to drive to the local supply store to buy the part they forgot to order before showing up (they came unprepared assuming I had the same shower as everybody else). Since the part was not available they gobbled something together to fix the leak. As soon as the water was turned back on, they realized that whatever they gobbled together didn't do anything to stop the leak and confirm that I needed a new valve (the one they couldn't find at the store). They came at 10am, left at 12pm, and I was charged $533, of which $375 is labor.
They came back a few days later with the correct piece, installed it in about 45 minutes, and requested $210 for the job! I am not sure why I should pay labor charges again when they didn't fix the problem the first time around.
But there is more...while the leak has now stopped, the shower is working backwards: the hot is cold, and the cold is hot (a great way to get burned!). Since I refuse to pay them another $125 to come and fix their mistake, they refuse to come and finish the job.
Bottom line: I paid $580 (the actual invoice shows $743) to fix a leak in my shower but must now get another plumber to come and fix the hot/cold water issue that they created.
