A sad excuse for honest business practices.
NOTE: Roto Rooter is a franchise so this review only pertains to the one listed hereby.
Another note: They only have a PO BOX on their invoice. So you can not even stop by the office to talk in person. No website, no email, no names of owners or managers.

Was charged for half an hour of actual time on a holiday $550 dollars.
I was not quoted a price, which should have been volunteered, not realizing this could be this insanely high, where normally my plumber charges around $200 for this.
I expected a bit more due to Holiday time.
But not two and a half times more.

I called twice to reach someone and no one bothered calling back as they knew full well I wanted to speak of the charges.

So I called again to negotiate the already charged to my cc price and I was immediately treated defensively that these are their NORMAL charges and we were the only ones to show up so we did you a favor. I mentioned that it would have been cheaper to go into a motel for another 2 nights and wait for the regular plumber to show.

Then he offered $50 off.... That's the equivalent of a 10% coupon.... Seriously, and now I was accused of extorting money ? I'm a business owner and he very unprofessionally accused me of extortion.
It's called negotiating.
One can only negotiate IF one has something to offer in exchange.
That is doing business.

It looks more that it was Roto Rooter was taking advantage off a bad situation I was in.
(during the Gold Rush days, shovels were sold for crazy prices. IN those days, there was no negotiating, no internet)

And, I called before writing this review on Yelp, advance notice, to negotiate and gave the option of warning the public as in Freedom of Speech.

I'm not saying don't use them, I can't tell anyone what to do, I'm saying SHOP AROUND and GET Quotes. I never saw this coming. I had $300 cash on me, I thought that would be it. But, i was hurriedly asked to sign their form AFTER the fact. The form on the back side which I should have been told to read by the technician, because I signed under duress. It also states HOW TO RESOLVE A PROBLEM and to contact the manager at the listed nr.

Well I did, and not with great reception.

So, No thank you to the 10% offer, $200 off that would have been ok, but, for $50 i choose to warn the people to make sure to shop for services, even on a Holiday and not fall for the outrageous charges. One man and one machine half an hour.
machine that one can rent at Home Depot for under $100.--

I don't know anyone else than the other Franchise which I have not done business with, but even my regular plumber was shocked. I will not recommend anyone else.

But, don't let this company or any company take you to the cleaners...

The plumber who came out did a good job, but the billing was dishonest, and they made no attempt to make it right, so I felt the need to warn other customers. Even though they claim that they offer to come out and look at your situation and give you an estimate for free, they charge a $20 ""trip fee,"" apparently regardless of where you live, since I live right in the middle of Santa Fe (it might make sense if you lived far from town, etc.) and they don't include this fee in their estimate. This is particularly annoying because their fee for service during business hours is already $170/hour, which is nearly $50 more than my regular plumber charges. I would not recommend this company unless you absolutely need service immediately (which in this case I did, so I didn't have much of a choice).

The tech Ken Luna was very helpful with unclogging my shower drain. He walked me through what and what not to do to get it taken care of. He didn't even have to come out to look at it and saved me money.

Extremely disappointing. Promised to arrive Saturday morning......call @ 1:00 pm, can't make it. Promised to arrive to fix the problem Sunday morning.....a complete no show. Honestly, is this how you run your business!! I will be shocked if they ever show up! Don't hold your breath Santa Fe consumers. These guys don't stand by their word!!!

We could not have cleared our drainage areas and plumbing area without them. They were professional and knowledgeable. Great service, would highly recommend them. Paul

I wished I seen these reviews before I met David . They describe him perfect . He is a con artist and a liar and a cold hearted thief . We paid David Lopez 5000 up front to do a sewer tap and he never showed up called just disappeared . I had finally run into him and he says he has been waiting on me to get the permits pulled , and asked for more money . I told him I want my money back and he replies that he will be there in there morning to start my job . He never showed up . I called him from a different number and tell him that I want my money back that it has been months waiting on him . I haven't seen him he don't answer and he took my 5000 and lost out . Do not trust David Lopez.Do not hire David Lopez .David Lopez is a crook .

They never finished cleaning up after they re placed my sewer line and refused to give me an invoice or receipt for the cash I paid them for the work. Also they refused to return my calls and never showed up when they said they would or called to cancel the appointments they made with me. Very unreliable and unprofessional and I would not ever use them again.

David Lopez of Clearwater Plumbing is indeed a thief and a liar as noted in previous reviews. I wish I had seen those reviews before hiring him. He made a minor plumbing issue into a monster. i paid him $3000 and he abandoned the job. Plumbing to master bath unconnected, open trenches etc etc. Never came when he said he would. Once you pay him he never does what he says he will until you get so sick of dealing with him that you hire someone else to finish the mess he made and correct the initial problem by just snaking a line. It was a nightmare situation! Dont trust him.

This business is a guy called David Lopez. He is a con artist who pretended to be a licensed plumber, pretended to pull permits, and kept my money without doing the work. My hope is that I can prevent others from falling for his con. Now I know he cons people all of the time in Santa Fe. He is well-known for taking people's money and not doing the work.

David Lopez took my $1000.00 check on a Friday, cashed it, and did not show up as promised to do the work. When he showed up 3 days later, I fired him! I demanded a refund. After a long sing song of bs excuses, I still have not received any refund. WARNING: DO NOT hire this man or his company. The only thing ""clear"" that I got was being ripped off.

David Lopez did worked for me in the past. I was always concerned about his frequent tardiness. It also frightened me that he frequently used his cell phone while using heavy equipment to dig around the foundation of my house.
