I have dealt with this company over 20 years. Never had a problem until the past three years. Every year I seem to need Freon added to my AC system at a cost of approximately $300. They never look for or fix leaks. Just keep charging to refill. The last problem was a failed water heater. I knew exactly what the problem was but couldn't get the part for a week. I called Aggressive, gave them the make, model and year of the water heater that they installed years before. I even gave them a description of the part because I knew it wasn't the standard part in most water heaters. They told me they had the part to fix it and could come out the next day. When the tech arrived, I already had the old part out of the water heater and ready for him to install the new part. He walked into the garage, looked at the part and said, oh, I don't have that part. I told him that I gave all and detailed information to the person who I spoke with. He politely apologized and left. I eventually received the original part I ordered and repaired the heater myself. Months later May 2022 I called to have them come out again as my AC was working but not blowing cold. I figured it was the same old (need Freon) again. They told me that if I didn't pay them $118 for the water heater visit, they couldn't help me. I had no idea there was even an outstanding charge since no service was done and the tech didn't have the correct part. They were rude to my wife on the phone and still refuse service. This company will never get another penny or good word from me. Stay away from this company. There are many others with good ratings.
I recently had two hot water heaters fail in my basement. This resulted in water flowing onto my basement floor and no hot water throughout the house. I called Aggressive Mechanical and had them do the replacement. Everything about my engagement with them was professional:
- The quote for material and labor was clearly laid out and explained.
- The plumbers arrived the next day as scheduled. I was notified of their arrival time via text.
- The plumbers were experienced. Work being clean and thorough. They also took the time to show me what I needed to know on the new heaters.
- There office later followed up by sending me warranty information for my files.
Super impressed with Aggressive Mechanical and would certainly recommend them.
Mike E.Very fast response time to first quote and then install a replacement central AC unit during a stretch of hot days in August 2020.
Woke up to find my furnace was out on the coldest day of the year so far. I called Aggressive and they said they were slammed but would get someone to me between 2 pm and 4 pm. Repairman showed up at noon -- I was stoked. He found the problem rather quickly -- some clogged houses. No B.S. about selling me expensive parts or anything. Good, honest repair.
Maraudermick M.Review for Plumbing only; Furnace & A/C services from Aggressive are great.
First time I called Aggressive for a plumbing problem....non emergency.
I chose to call them because they are so good with keeping my furnace & A/C working.
Called on Sat and left a message ; they called me back on Mon, got appt for Wed. Plumber was nice enough & on time.
We had high pitched squeeling in the pipes when using bathroom faucets or flushing toilets. It usually only happened at night, so of course it didn't happen when he was here ? I shared with the plumber the action I had taken to fix the problem.....shut off the water main valve, drained faucets, turned main valve back on.
He checked water flow, did what I had already said I'd done. Because it wasn't night-time, no noise was heard.
He charged us $125.?
Noise was back that night, & every night since then!
Find another plumber!
They did what they were paid to do, however they charge $140/hr, which seemed expensive for the level of service. It is sort of comical looking at the invoice. They don't quote an hourly rate, they quote $35 with a quantity of 10. Looking at a bit smaller print you notice the $35 references 1/4 hour increments.
My Boiler is a fairly common Weil Mclain ultra - it had a failed low water sensor. They charged $319 for a part that is generally just under $100. You can actually download the weil-mclain parts list and see that they OEM the part from one of two manufactures (Hydrolevel 45-1105, Or Taco LTR0243L) (Weil Mclain part number 571-100-006)
They said I needed to have a boiler maintenance kit and service which involved taking the burner out, cleaning it, replacing a graphite seal, and the flame igniter. This service required a special ordered maintenance kit so they had to come back out for a second visit once the kit arrived. When he was doing the maintenance the technician used a large folding knife to open the package containing the graphite seal and broke it. He then looked at me and said, ""look it came broken"". Funny how it just happened to break where he put the knife into the package.
They charged me $171 for the maintenance kit (Weil-mclain part number 383-700-200) Which sells for $58 on pexsupply.com.
The name ""Aggressive Mechanical Contractors"" does not imply they have aggressively low pricing; quite the opposite actually. Possibly I am spoiled by the availability of parts and information in the internet, but a 200% price markup on common parts seems a bit steep. I understand that there is always a markup, how else would a business stay in business, but 200% is a lot.
By hiring Aggressive, I was trying to support my local contractors in Neptune however I think this was a mistake. I had the exact same part replaced May 13th, 2016 by ""Koehler Plumbing Heating and Air Conditioning"" located in Oceanport, and the total bill back three years ago was $250.
If someone was to ask me if I would recommend these folks I would have to say Aggressive would not be my first choice. I took off the huge orange marketing maintenance tag they put on my boiler. I'm going to print out the invoice from Koehler and put that on my boiler instead.
Bill D.I have worked side by side with this company on many projects for over 25 years. I have never seen a more professional, beautiful, and perfectly designed and installed hydronic heating system. All of the technicians are wonderful people, and take immense pride in their work. Hard to find a comparable company anywhere....except maybe me !
Aggressive Mechanical recently replaced my HVAC system and everything went very well with the removal of the old and installation of the new. The crew was awesome! They came early, which I love, were very professional, clean, respectful, engaging and efficient, which I love even more!! I worked from the house all day and was on business calls throughout the day but was never disrupted in any way. They finished early too and left everything in great working order and left the house just as they found it. Thank you so much for everything. I really appreciate the work that was done and in the manner in which it was completed. John Ruggiero and Aggressive Mechanical are the best and carry my highest recommendation!
Peter G.Extremely Dissatisfied Experience and awful customer service
Background - my HVAC went out over 2 weeks ago during the initial heatwave. I placed a call to Aggressive and at first was very pleased with their responsiveness. The first technician came out and was very helpful and explained what happened and that a new system was needed. I placed an order for a new unit to be installed, and made a deposit. That's when the troubles began....
After the deposit was made, it was determined that a crane would need to be needed to replace the existing unit on the roof of the house. The crane company finally came on site after I personally had to make 2 telephone calls (which I would have thought Aggressive would have facilitated). Another day or two passed after the crane company was finally on standby when I called to ask where we stood with the install date. I was then told that I would need to furnish a survey so the permits person (J) could submit the necessary paperwork. I again took it upon myself to call the town and ask if a survey was 100% necessary given the fact that we are replacing an existing unit, and it is roof mounted. I spoke with George W, who is in charge of zoning, and he proceeded to tell me that it was not needed.
This morning I called and spoke with J and proceeded to tell her that I was informed by the person in charge of zoning that so long as the unit is upward venting, and being mounted on a roof, that there would not be the need for a survey. I then called later in the day to speak to J to see if she called George to confirm what he had already told me. She made a call but rather than speaking with George as I had asked, she spoke with other members of the department. She reiterated that she MUST have a survey. I then called George again, he reiterated to me that I DID NOT need a survey and that if necessary she could call him. I promptly hung up with George, called J and asked her to call him back. She flat out refused saying that she spoke with someone else in the department and that according to what she was told she can not and will not attempt to file the paperwork without a survey. When I asked if she would get on a conference call with George so we could both be determine exactly what is or is not needed she refused. At this point I was getting frustrated and told her that if we can not get to the bottom of this that I would be cancelling the install and seeking another company to handle the install. ""J"" refused to make another phone call and suggested that I should take my business elsewhere.
I left word both email and voicemail with my sales person to let him know that I would like a call back and to begin the refund process. Since its Friday evening I hope to hear from him on Monday but in the meantime I am still stuck in an emergency situation with 100 degree heat and a house with no air conditioning.
Evgeniya K.I am very pleased to update my review.
My husband was contacted by the team of the Aggressive Mechanical Contractors in order to remedy the situation.
We had a different specialist to take a look at the issue, and he was able to detect the cause.
We were also promised a refund for the services that were provided in summer, that were unnecessary.
I really appreciated their courtesy and the way they followed up.
