They will not complete work required by Pikes Peak Regional Building Dept. for my water heater resulting in a Notice of Noncompliance sent to me certified mail by PPRBD. I have called them many times to have this resolved with no response.
They set us up for a $99 scope and $99 cleaning and then an hour later said they would need to do a heavy duty cleaning at $899. They never even saw the sewer scope or report. Got it cleaned with an independent plumber for $120.
We feel like other people need to know about this really nice Christian company. We needed a new kitchen sink and faucet plus some plumbing under the sink replaced. We tried another company and that was just a big flop so we called Affordable Rooter, starting with the phone call to the job getting done was such a good experience I would really tell you to call this company I was really surprised at what a good company this is.
So grateful for the prompt and efficient fix to my plumbing problem. I would highly recommend this company. Best plumbing service by far!
Arlen G.In November 2018, we called Affordable Rooter to clean our sewer line after a minor backup. They came out and said it was open, but it appeared there might be a separation in the line at the house foundation. We had them come back to video the line which was not a very good quality video, but did not confirm the separation. They quoted almost $10,000 to replace the line from the house to the main, and that didn't even include replacing our concrete entrance at the front of the house. Today I just had another company come and clean and video our line for the sale of our house. The video does not show any break or separation in the line, just some roots in a few joints. Should have called the other company first.
All I can say is HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Robert saved the day! Highly ethical, knowledgable and affordable. THANK YOU !
These guys were quick to come over and get to work even though it was late in the day. That being said, the problems that occurred after with my plumbing could be a coincidence but I'm starting to doubt it. I called to have my sewer line cleaned because it was backing up. They said it was over a hundred feet so I had to pay 200 instead of 95 dollars. I agreed to pay it. Then when they opened the sewer line some water started spewing out and they said they would have to go through a toilet and hay would cost an additional 150. I agreed again. I wanted my line clear, what could I do. The plumber had his young assistant doing most of the work while he chit chatted with me in the dining room. The next day a side line connected to my washer backed up and flooded my downstairs kitchen and backed up the kitchen sink. We called a different plumber who came out to auger that line and it was fixed for a few days. We did have a pressure issue that ruptured our old water heater and had to replace it as well. Then we started hearing gurgling from a sink and had another plumber come over to tell us it was venting after snaking another pipe. This also wasn't solved. On Christmas Eve with a few friends over our whole sewer system backed up and flooded our basement. This time a plumber recommended clearing the sewer line. We explained we had just done this. He said that he would scope it with a video camera for free to ensure we weren't getting ripped off again. He was able to go through the sewer line with no problems and showed that there were still some grease spots and roots that were not cleared. We have had zero issues of gurgling or backups ever since. I highly recommend that company, Drain Plumber, to solve any plumbing issues. They were great and gave me a 30 day warranty to boot. Affordable plumbing is neither affordable nor does it have competent plumbers that can solve your issue.
First the negatives. The first appt. that was made the worker showed up an hour late with no phone call to simply say he was running late. The person them misdiagnosed the problem. The second worker for the same company came a couple days later and said it was a different problem, which increased the price from $99 to $164. Then, the worker after struggling to put the pipe back together, decided that the cast iron clean out fitting had to be replaced with at most $20 worth of PVC fittings, which cost me another $285. Mind you, the pipe was already taken apart, they were simply putting it back together and since he wasn't able to put the old part back on, he had to buy some plastic fittings. (The last person that did this last year had the proper tool that fit on the nipple and was able to remove it and put it back on without a problem.) So....$449 later it doesn't seem like a very ""Affordable Rooter"" to me. I'm stunned that he actually charged for a replacement for the clean-out plastic parts at a price of $285! Mind you, he never picked up a diamond pipe saw to cut into pipe; this was already open. He simply put on the new plastic replacement. Another reputable company said they would have charged time (20 min) and material but not as if it was a pipe that was sawn out for the first time to put a new clean out in. If I'd called to have that done, I can understand but not just putting a job back together. I would have done it myself had I known he was going to charge $285 to put my pipe back the way it was when he came to the job. He said he gave me a discount but I think it was $30 or so. Very unprofessional and egregious charge. It seems he could have even charged double for the part to just put my pipe back together, not an additional, separate fee for replacing a clean-out. NOT AFFORDABLE by any means.
Positives: Michelle the receptionist is very nice and pleasant to talk to. The worker took a good deal of time to educate me about other options that I can consider for the future and was very thorough with his explanations. He seemed knowledgable about other services. He did bring his son and a nephew along, which I thought was great for him to be a mentor. But I soon saw that he was a bully to them, barking commands impatiently and yelling at them condescendingly. They looked miserable and at one point I privately told his son that even though your dad is ""prickly and grouchy"" I think he loves you. Very uncomfortable to watch...
I feel like I was gauged with the plastic fitting and wish I'd have known that he intended to charge me $285 to put my drain pipe back together in addition to the rooter job for $164. So a month later, I'm in the same position but $449 dollars short without a solution. I would have refused the replacement part had I'd known he would charge for a service he did not do. After speaking to the owner, a woman, I was told they really gave me a great deal because they had to unhook my washer and dryer connection, which is equivalent to unscrewing a garden hose. Yeah, I need to pay $80 and hour to unscrew a hose? She said as a courtesy they would give me a $100 off on a camera scope to check out the sewer, which would bring it down to the price most every one else already charges-$150. So, they charge $250 for the camera? Affordable? I think not. Time to change the name or the service that's provided so they can live up to their name.
I would not recommend them. The new company I found was thorough and professional and only charged $150 for a comprehensive camera and locator service. They showed me that I already have tons of roots already back in the sewer. They explained my options and the cost of each so that I could make an informed decision; no surprise last minute $285 charge.
Frances A.We just moved into our house and discovered a leak downstairs and we had no hot water. I called Affordable Rooter in the morning and they sent Steven Wright over ASAP. Within in minutes he located the problem gave us an estimate. He got right to work and did a great job and even cleaned all the water and mess up we had from the leak. Friendly, knowledgeable and very professional. I would highly recommend Steven. This is my first time using Affordable Rooter and I will recommend them to anyone who has plumbing needs. Plus for everything we had done the price was very reasonable.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
Bryan H.Affordables pricing is competitive with others in the area. I was not entirely impressed with the job overall. They did the job and then when the city inspector came out they had to redo the entire job. That didn't make any sense to me. Why would you not do it to code in the first place? They did correct it without hesitation which was nice. Unfortunately, one of the crew got sick and was not able to complete the job in a timely manner. I had to keep following up until the crew member was better to come out and complete the job. It wasn't a horrible experience but it wasn't great either. My suggestion is if you use Affordable to get it in writing on a time frame, the scope of work, and be sure you agree with everything to avoid any angst.
