Wonderful experience! I tried to install a new faucet by myself, when I realized all my plumbing under the sink wouldn't work with the new faucet I bought. After hours of working on it with a friend and many trips to Home Depot, my friend called Tom around 7pm on a Friday night. He was out of town and couldn't come over, but gave us a few tips over the phone. We made progress, but ended up having to call back around 9pm after getting stumped again. He was super nice and very patient with us. He expressed how he wished he was in town so he could come by to help us (even though is was late on a Friday night). Eventually he talked us through it, and we actually fixed it (plumbing and all) ourselves! Thank you Tom for taking our calls so late, and going above and beyond for something you weren't even getting paid for. Couldn't have done it without you!!!
Wendy S.Thursday night I noticed that I had a water leak under my kitchen sink. I called Tom and arranged to have someone come out on Friday. Chris arrived and promptly went into my kitchen to determine that the plastic pipe attached to the disposal had detached. He secured the pipe, did a check on everything and when I asked what I owed, was told nothing for this trip. That is a great business man. I have used them prior to this and will certainly continue to use them, and refer anyone I know to them.
Had a clogged kitchen sink and bathroom sink (same line). Tried to Liquid Plumbr it, plunge and snake it, but to no avail. Called Tom on Sunday night and explained the situation. Upfront he told me very busy times for him, but would get back to me next day. We coordinated a time where Chris could come out.
Chris and another employee (sorry did not get his name) came out and assessed the issue. After snaking did not work, determined the clog was farther down the line. He was able to blow out the line and clear the clog - also provided a few other tips for prevention of future clogs.
Work areas were swept and cleaned up. The bill was more than reasonable for the 2 hours of work! Both very professional.
Earlier in this post I pointed out Tom/company was busy. He advised me of this (being a small company). I wanted to provide my business locally. Happy with the results and would use them again.
Shawn K.I called chris the day before the 4th of July and told him about the problem I was having in my kitchen with the sink that we needed a new faucet and that we had a leak. Chris told me he would be there the next morning at 7 o'clock this was on a national holiday. Chris showed up the next morning early I showed him the faucet that I had purchased and where the leak might be at. He assured me that the faucet would fit and he could fix and find any leaks. Chris came prepared with all tools that he needed he also came with a new garbage disposal just in case we needed a new one under the sink. Chris replaced the old faucet with a new one, he also changed out the old fittings for new ones which gave us better water flow, got rid of old piping under the sink and fixed and found the leak. Chris went out of his way to check the bathroom sink which also had a small leak and fixed that leak. The entire job was completed in as little as an hour and a half. The price for doing the job was completely fair and reasonable. Chris's service was EXEMPLARY in every way, Chris needs to be a role model for the service industry. Chris even called me the next day to find out if everything was working properly. I personally have been in the service industry for 20 years and this company for me stands out from the rest. I would use this company for any of my plumbing needs and will in the future. Thank you Chris for making me feel comfortable and doing a job well done.
Called Tom late in the evening when I returned home to discover that one of my old galvanized drain pipes had failed. He couldn't come out that night, but said he'd be out the next morning. Chris showed up at 8am, described the work he was going to have to do, and did it in about 30-35 minutes. Showed respect for my home, cleaned up after himself, and was out the door in 45 minutes. No fuss, no upselling on a repipe due to the galvanized pipes, and overall just a very positive, professional experience. I will use Affordable Plumbing again...just not soon, hopefully.
After getting a crazy expensive water bill, we discovered a leak in our water line between our house and the street, which the city informed us was our responsibility. We spent a Saturday afternoon digging a trench in our front yard to identify the problem. Once the leak was unearthed, it got worse - fast.
We called Affordable Plumbing, and they came out within two hours to look at the problem. We soon realized a quick fix wasn't possible, and the whole line would need to be replaced. The quote they gave us was reasonable, and so just two days later, they were back, and had replaced our line in under two hours! We were incredibly pleased with their responsiveness, and would definitely use them again.
S T.Tom is a very pleasant and nice guy. However is has no clue how to run a business. Out of the 5 plumbing companies I interviewed to replace our sewer line he was the cheapest. Awesome! He said all the right things, I read a few reviews online, and so felt confidant selecting him. I should have read more reviews. If you are swapping out a shower faucet he seems fine. If you are re plumbing your house, or doing a sewer line; RUN AWAY!!!! He promised 7 days. Since this is our 2nd old west Seattle home, it's our 2nd sewer line we've had to replace. Everything he said fell I place with my previous experience. It took 5 weeks and was left unfinished.
Day one I wrote a check and he said he was going to pull a permit that day. 3 weeks went by and I saw no permit. As they started filling in the trench I demanded to see the permit. (He had been evading that one.) turns out he never got one! So more delays.
More details of issues. 6 times I was told they were coming and would need to cut my water off. So I would plan a day out of the house for my son and I. Only to get home at 5 to discover they no-showed. No communication for Tom. No excuse or new plan. Nothing. Even threatening to fire him did nothing to change his behavior.
If his crew did show up, they would work an hour and then disappear for hours because they got called to an ""emergency"". His crew was left without transport or tools as they only have one truck, so unless all of them left, one or two guys would be left on my property without the ability to work. So they would smoke. My yard is littered with cig butts. We do not smoke! They brought dogs who pooped in our yard, it wasn't picked up. (We are allergic, so do not own any.) my husband stepped in it!
Tom promised to return our yard to exactly how it was before he started. Minus grass seed. I was ok with that. He had left and is u contactable. My sewer line is in, but the trench is not filled in 100%, there is 6"" of dirt over our patio, our fence is still dismantled, old pipes and concrete chunks lay scattered about, and our dryer vent was never reassembled. I could go on and on with complaints and details. I would have fired him had he not been the plumber my contractor uses. (Contractor has been great.) I regret not firing him.
Our entire holidays were tainted and our budget has been blown by Toms incompetence. Safe yourself the stress and money. Go with Fox plumbing or Mr Rooter. They are fabulous at big projects and with the higher price up front!!!
Wanted to give them a fair chance with all the good reviews but I did not have a good experience. Tom was very hard to get a hold of - even after his guys had been to our house and made the problem worse. Ended up calling someone else to finish the job.
Lisa D.Murphy's Law fully in play while my husband was out of town, my kitchen sink completely clogged on a Thursday night. Friday morning I made a call to Affordable Plumbing based on some rave reviews I read in the West Seattle Blog.
Not only was Tom pleasant and good-humored, he arranged to have one of his guys come over THAT afternoon to fix it for me. Friday! When I arrived home they were there waiting for me and in less than an hour I was back in business. Chris was friendly and professional, and the bill was jaw-droppingly low.
Tom even texted me over the weekend to make sure everything was still ok, which really impressed me. I can't recommend these guys highly enough!

Called Affordable Plumbing of West Seattle at 10pm one evening hoping to leave a message about a backed up sink. Tom answered and set me up with an appointment for the next morning. I was surprised that he was able to squeeze me in as they had a lot of appointments that day. Tom's a pretty down-to-earth guy. No assumptions or scolding and just wants to fix my problem.
Pro-tip: If you go to what looks like is their website and there's a 425 number listed as the contact, do not call that number. Apparently that's an ex-employee who is attempting to hold their site for ransom. Terrible thing to do to a great company. Call the 206 number listed on yelp. You won't be sorry!
