I called Chris about a valve under the kitchen sink that i thought needed to be replaced. He came by the next day and took a look at it, fiddled with it for a few minutes, asked me a couple of questions. Well the valve doesn't need to be replaced after all, and he didn't charge me for the call. Very nice to deal with and prompt service too.

Tom and Chris really came through for me in a serious time of need. While out of state in March & April for serious family and personal medical emergencies, the last 3 days of April my house sitter called to inform me that my entire sewer system had backed up from the basement and effluent (poo & goo) was gushing up through every plumbing orifice in my house. From two states away I hired a plumber I hurriedly found online. Did they fix the problem? Sort of, but it took over a week for the guy to come out. He did a Jerry-rig job and charged me $300+\- for things to run just ""OK"", at least until last night. My house sitter ran the garbage disposal and gunk flew out everywhere, blocking up water and anything else from the 2 kitchen and bathroom sinks.

Fortunately, I had seen the ad for Affordable Plumbing (PNW and/or of West Seattle) and coupon in the Val-Pak mailer and also got a referral from one of our city council members so I called Tom first thing this morning. Tom promised that Chris would call me ASAP, which he did, and he arrived and went straight to work within 15 minutes. Chris was prompt, friendly, courteous, efficient, and knowledgeable. Tom was extremely helpful and compassionate to a very difficult time I have been having with serious personal and family health emergencies. True to his word, he enlisted Chris to snake and remove all the gunk (hair, grease, food, and broken glass) from the disposer and pipes that had caused both kitchen sinks and the bathroom sink to back up despite the good efforts of friends who tried unsuccessfully to resolve the problem.

I have NO hesitation giving Tom, Chris, and Affordable Plumbing a 5* star rating and high recommendation. If I could give them a 10* star rating, I would. I also know who I will be calling next time I need a plumber - Affordable Plumbing!

Thank you for everything, guys. Please enjoy your weekend!

I wish I could write 100 one-star reviews for this place. Working with them turned out to be one of the worst experiences of owning our new home. We had used them before for a repair and they were very responsive and reasonable, which is why we called them when the shower in our new home was leaking. They said they could fix it and were interested in doing the total bathroom remodel. The day they were supposed to start, no one showed. Not the next day, either. After some prodding, someone finally showed on Wednesday for a few hours. And thus it began. Every week, we had an average of 5 hours of labor on the project. At first, we accepted their excuses--the main plumber on our project was quite sick, and excessive rains affected some of their other outdoor projects, so they had to reallocate their resources. By week 10, we knew it was all a ruse. They were using us to fill the spaces in between the regular business of their plumbing ""emergencies"".

In addition to being very unreliable and uncommunicative, the quality of the work done was very poor. It was after several major errors were discovered that we finally fired them. The tile job on the floor looked like it was someone's first job--the joints were not lined up and the colors had not been considered, with several areas where the exact same colors (or even the exact same pattern) were used in adjacent spots. They also used green board (cheaper) instead of concrete backer board in the shower without consulting us. About 30 seconds on google is enough to discover what ""pros"" should be using. The electrical work (which was contracted out) was not done to code, and we had to hire a different electrician to rectify it or risk losing power in our kitchen whenever we used more than one appliance. Finally, the heated floor was not connected to the power supply before the tile was glued down. Thankfully the electrician came before the floor was grouted. Outlets in the vanity area were not set up where requested. The time between the conversations about our needs and when the work done was often weeks or even months, and I'm sure the workers simply didn't remember. When our new contractor finished everything and the shower was turned on, the plumbing that these guys had done didn't hold up and we had to hire a new plumber to rip two holes in the wall and resolder.

When reading the reviews for this business, you will find many 5-star reviews. These come from people who are so relieved that their plumbing emergency was fixed quickly. If you are considering using this company for a long-term project, I suggest reading the 1-star reviews. They will give you a much better picture of the professionalism of this company.

Our family (2 working parents and 2 young children) is still recovering from this 4-month experience. It has taken me 3 months to even write this review. Try Bottomline Plumbing of Burien instead.

The name couldn't be more deceiving. They gave me a $5000 quote for 4 hours worth of work. That is more than $1000/hour! Am I in the wrong business? So it seems. I am going to take plumbing classes right after I finish typing this review. I really can't image what plumbers do with all that money! the parts cost less than $50, the rest is labor. All those plumbers should be living in the Bahamas by now with such salaries. Maybe they are. Plumbing job, here I come!

Wonderful experience! I tried to install a new faucet by myself, when I realized all my plumbing under the sink wouldn't work with the new faucet I bought. After hours of working on it with a friend and many trips to Home Depot, my friend called Tom around 7pm on a Friday night. He was out of town and couldn't come over, but gave us a few tips over the phone. We made progress, but ended up having to call back around 9pm after getting stumped again. He was super nice and very patient with us. He expressed how he wished he was in town so he could come by to help us (even though is was late on a Friday night). Eventually he talked us through it, and we actually fixed it (plumbing and all) ourselves! Thank you Tom for taking our calls so late, and going above and beyond for something you weren't even getting paid for. Couldn't have done it without you!!!

Thursday night I noticed that I had a water leak under my kitchen sink. I called Tom and arranged to have someone come out on Friday. Chris arrived and promptly went into my kitchen to determine that the plastic pipe attached to the disposal had detached. He secured the pipe, did a check on everything and when I asked what I owed, was told nothing for this trip. That is a great business man. I have used them prior to this and will certainly continue to use them, and refer anyone I know to them.

Had a clogged kitchen sink and bathroom sink (same line). Tried to Liquid Plumbr it, plunge and snake it, but to no avail. Called Tom on Sunday night and explained the situation. Upfront he told me very busy times for him, but would get back to me next day. We coordinated a time where Chris could come out.
Chris and another employee (sorry did not get his name) came out and assessed the issue. After snaking did not work, determined the clog was farther down the line. He was able to blow out the line and clear the clog - also provided a few other tips for prevention of future clogs.
Work areas were swept and cleaned up. The bill was more than reasonable for the 2 hours of work! Both very professional.
Earlier in this post I pointed out Tom/company was busy. He advised me of this (being a small company). I wanted to provide my business locally. Happy with the results and would use them again.

I called chris the day before the 4th of July and told him about the problem I was having in my kitchen with the sink that we needed a new faucet and that we had a leak. Chris told me he would be there the next morning at 7 o'clock this was on a national holiday. Chris showed up the next morning early I showed him the faucet that I had purchased and where the leak might be at. He assured me that the faucet would fit and he could fix and find any leaks. Chris came prepared with all tools that he needed he also came with a new garbage disposal just in case we needed a new one under the sink. Chris replaced the old faucet with a new one, he also changed out the old fittings for new ones which gave us better water flow, got rid of old piping under the sink and fixed and found the leak. Chris went out of his way to check the bathroom sink which also had a small leak and fixed that leak. The entire job was completed in as little as an hour and a half. The price for doing the job was completely fair and reasonable. Chris's service was EXEMPLARY in every way, Chris needs to be a role model for the service industry. Chris even called me the next day to find out if everything was working properly. I personally have been in the service industry for 20 years and this company for me stands out from the rest. I would use this company for any of my plumbing needs and will in the future. Thank you Chris for making me feel comfortable and doing a job well done.

Called Tom late in the evening when I returned home to discover that one of my old galvanized drain pipes had failed. He couldn't come out that night, but said he'd be out the next morning. Chris showed up at 8am, described the work he was going to have to do, and did it in about 30-35 minutes. Showed respect for my home, cleaned up after himself, and was out the door in 45 minutes. No fuss, no upselling on a repipe due to the galvanized pipes, and overall just a very positive, professional experience. I will use Affordable Plumbing again...just not soon, hopefully.

After getting a crazy expensive water bill, we discovered a leak in our water line between our house and the street, which the city informed us was our responsibility. We spent a Saturday afternoon digging a trench in our front yard to identify the problem. Once the leak was unearthed, it got worse - fast.

We called Affordable Plumbing, and they came out within two hours to look at the problem. We soon realized a quick fix wasn't possible, and the whole line would need to be replaced. The quote they gave us was reasonable, and so just two days later, they were back, and had replaced our line in under two hours! We were incredibly pleased with their responsiveness, and would definitely use them again.
