The plumbers that American Home Shield sent to our house could not snake the kitchen drain and said we needed hydro jetting. AHS sent Stephen from Affordable Plumbing. On the phone he said he cannot do hydro jetting, but is confident that he could snake our problem.

We told him our frustration over the phone and he adjusted his schedule to come out at night on the same day of dispatch. He put on his own shoe covers upon entering our home. The other plumbing company did NOT do this nor ask if we wanted their shoes off inside. He has a drop down mat in the sink area. Stephen was a gentlemen the whole time and explained everything in the process.

You can tell that he is passionate about plumbing. When we showed him the new sink and faucet that we are planning to install, he lit up with excitement.

Yes, he did manage to snake out our issue. It was gross.

It's been a few year. Today, I fixed something that Affordable Plumbing Northwest should of taking care of (along with other things)... and I finally decided to write a review so the public will know.
They did a service back in January of 2021. They did came out the same day.... broke one of our toilet, they did paid for the new one (a cheap one). They didn't screw the toilet down tight enough, and my son mentioned the issue a few days age about ever since the new toilet, he noticed that it moves a bit every time he sits on it.
They also open a hole on our wall, and promised they will have someone come over and patch the wall with an access panel. Well, they never came and we have to deal with the hole in the wall ourselves.
Call them several times about they didn't finished the job. They never bother to call back.
They might be affordable, but it really is not worth it... in my experience with them.

Stephen did an amazing job. We had a ruptured pipe and he responded quickly and got it fixed. Was very easy to work with and made sure that everything worked after the job was done.
Definitely calling him for future jobs. Thank you Stephen!

The owner and his son did a really great job. Communicated really clearly what the problem was and how they were going to fix it. The problem was related to a sink pipe leak. . . they showed up on time, fixed it quickly and were super friendly. Would definitely recommend them!

Shortly after buying my 1961-built home, there was a stoppage that was causing a backup in the downstairs sinks. Through American Home Shield, I set up an appointment with Affordable Plumbing NW for 9am that Sunday. The plumber was 45 minutes late, and came in with no tools or anything. I showed him the kitchen sink upstairs and both sinks downstairs. After a quick eye-glance, he said the problem was due to having 1.5"" pipes (and that 2"" is standard). He then went to his car where he spent 15-20 minutes before returning and saying there's nothing he can do because of the pipe size, and because the upstairs and one of the downstairs sinks didn't have a clean out. He said the only way to resolve it would be to replace all the piping to 2"" piping. Shocked, I asked him several questions which all got shut down.

Q: ""What about the second downstairs sink? It has a clean out, right?""
A: ""Yeah, that sink was done properly. But it probably doesn't connect to the other sink"" (Found out after he left that it absolutely does).

Q: ""Can't you remove the P-Trap to snake the drain?""
A: ""Yeah, but I'd have to take apart the whole sink to do that, and who knows what's all in the drain, it could damage the snake or the pipes.""

Q: ""So you're telling me that I am stuck with this stoppage, and the only way to fix it is to tear up the walls and replace all the pipes?!?""
A: ""Yes"" (and then he proceeded to give me his recommendations on where to tear up the walls).

Q: ""You're telling me there's ABSOLUTELY NOTHING you can do?!?""
A: ""Yeah. I represent the warranty company and they didn't approve the work because of the two sinks not having a P-Trap and the pipe being 1.5""... I'm just a one man show. You can call Collins Plumbing, their tools are much better than mine. They can scope the pipes and can even blow the blockage right out.""

Q: ""Do I at least get a refund for this service call since you haven't done any repairs or anything?""
A: ""They'll be calling you after, you'll have to talk to them about that.""

He then left and I still had the blockage. I relayed all of this info to American Home Shield. They said the plumber told them that if he was to snake the sinks - he told them it would require snaking two sinks - that it would be $1200!!! They told me that due to that and that ""none of the sinks"" had a clean out (even though the 3rd sink did), and because the pipes were 1.5"", they wouldn't approve the work. When I told them about the plumber saying ""I represent the warranty company"", they were not happy about him saying that at all. AHS also told me that the $75 charge was not for him to repair anything, but rather for him to show up. Since he showed up, I wouldn't be getting a refund.

It was abundantly clear to me that Affordable Plumbing NW had no intention of repairing the blockage, and only showed up to collect the $75. Two days after the failed service call, I resolved the blockage myself by pouring 1/2-gallon of vinegar down the downstairs sink which had the clean out. It quickly removed the blockage and I have had no issues since.

Perhaps Affordable Plumbing NW will work out for you if you're not going through a home warranty company. But if you are, based on my experience, I recommend you steer clear.

Tom Bevins and his team have always treated me well, living up to their commitment to be reliable, efficient, compassionate, and affordable. Tom made a special trip out to my home in Tukwila to replace a broken kitchen sink disposer. It wasn't really an emergency, but Affordable Plumbing treated it as if it were and came right out because they knew it felt like an emergency to me.

I can't recommend highly enough Tom Bevins' family owned and operated Affordable Plumbing, and his family and crew of dedicated plumbers. I will have no hesitation calling them again for all my plumbing needs!

Call Affordable Plumbing. They are the best and beat out all the rest!

Very disappointed. I set an appointment and the guy forgot it. He said he was busy the whole week and didn't even try to reschedule.
