Fran G.Polite, honest, dependable, quite reasonable...and fixes the problem!!! What more can one ask for? Just wish there were more contractors like this company!
I had wonderful service from Bob Giles. He was on time. Fixed my drain, leaking pipes& put on new kitchen faucet . Will use him again for sure. He did all this in 2 hrs. And charged very reasonable fee.

Ellen H.I was in a real bind, no water, and staying at someone else's house for the weekend. The customer service I received, quick calls back from his office, and Bob arrived at the scheduled time was the first sign that I was dealing with someone who cared about his work. Bob was polite and knowledgeable. He fixed my frozen pipes, cleaned up afterwards and charged a fair price for his work and expertise. I would call him first if ever I was in need of a plumber! I'm recommending him to the home owner, as his suggestions to prevent this from happening again, were very good.
Similar experience to the other 1 star review...came out to do a job at his ""75/hour rate"" but he and his wife (who is dispatcher and quite impatient at that!) dont mention that is his minimum...he did 10 mins of work on a valve since he ""didnt have all the parts"" and offered to come back and finish the job ""in future"" when convenient to us rather than running up the bill if he had to go to store, supposedly...so paid him promptly and clarified he'd be back at reduced rate or charge, ""yes"" and Bob says ""sure will do that for ya""....we called back within week to schedule ""part two"" of the job and his wife/dispatcher immediately is confrontational claiming she has no idea who I am or what job this was, has nerve to call me derogatory adjectives/names as the client and then drops a nasty text later saying he will not be back to finish the job as promised and ""good luck finding a cheaper plumber""...cheap not always best I learned, will settle for honest!!
so left me with a fitting/valve connected on one side but not the other...i think it was a scam all along now to make one service call into two...DONT trust them! What plumber shows up without all his tools and kit, you have two reviews and instances now reviewed from two very different customers saying same tactic he pulls...BUYER BEWARE!!
I read the reviews here on Yelp ref Affordable Plumbing and acted accordingly. Since my review will not be of the same caliber posted so far, I will be as detailed as possible giving rise to its length. One final note: I had a very close friend, a commercial master plumber for 45 years, whom I worked with infrequently but saw first hand how bars, homes, restaurants were treated during his work visits. He could have done both tasks outlined below in two to three hours, if he had not succumbed to pancreatic cancer two years ago.
I called the number posted in early April with no result other than an announcement of the Telephone Number I had reached and the universal ""leave a message."" Strange, I thought - this total lack of any business announcement but left a message anyway. I received no response for several days. I called again several times over a period of about a week and finally got a call returned. I explained that I had a shower faucet needing a cartridge replaced as the Hot Water was absent. I also stated that Moen had sent me a free replacement cartridge so all that I needed was the shower's cartridge removal and replacement, something I feared tearing apart by myself.
i was told that he was a ""busy man"" by the person on the phone so it would be two weeks or so (April 25th at 9 A.M.) before he could get to it and i accepted this as their norm for appointment time frames. However. during this long (over two weeks) waiting period, I had purchased an outdoor shower for later installation over the summer and I thought it would be simpler to add the task of running water lines to it from the basement during this visit so I called back about five times trying to ascertain whether it would be possible to do this and make certain it would be known to the person coming on the 25th, WITH NO RESPONSE at all other than to hear a Tel Number announcement and to leave a message. Finally deciding to either cancel or get my call returned, I left a message again, but this time I told them without their response I would not be available on the 25th and to not show up. This time the call was returned during which I asked if it would be possible to run the lines for the outdoor shower during the plumber's initial visit and was told it would and that it would be taken care of. Yippee! Or so I thought.
Morning of the 25th I get two calls prior to 9 A.M.which I missed due to being in the shower but thought that was a good sign though no messages were left. Someone, in a personal automobile. No, not even a truck form of automobile, arrived in my driveway. It carried no signage, nothing that looked as though it could even transport sections of PVC piping was in the driveway an amazing 12 minutes early! Wow! He walked to my back door and presented no name, no business name nor card but said he was here to do the outdoor shower lines. He stated he was not aware of the shower capsule installation at all. It ""was not on my work order"" was his response, twice. Trying once but failing to remove the capsule with common pliers he stated he would need to get a puller, a tool that would be on any other plumber's list of tools carried everywhere he would ever go, but he did ask if I wanted him to start on the water lines before taking care of the shower capsule repair to which I stated that the initial task needed repairing first. Then the lines to the outdoor shower could be tackled. He stated he would go get a puller and would return shortly. This is at 9:24 A.M.
We left the house six hours later for Maryland at 2:35 P.M. with nary a call nor a return by this person, to our house. The shower capsule is not replaced, nor shower lines installed. And this company gets $75/hour? In what world does this level of performance get even minimum wages? I am glad to hear some of you got good service from this entity. Their ""office"" is completely incompetent by not returning calls, even one asking for their response to this negative review prior to posting it, nor has it any business presence telephonically, and is unresponsive to messages left. Whomever presented themselves to my door bore no resemblance to a business person whatsoever. Perhaps being located in ""lower, slower"" Delaware this may be the norm but it seems very third world to me, and I have lived in third world countries during my life being retired military. I have indeed had excellent services provided to us here in lower/slower by other firms so this firm's, and I use the word more of a joke than reality, is not indicative of the norm.
If I could leave herein, NO STARS, I would have. We stayed in DE an extra day to get the shower repaired and waited two weeks + for the appointment. Could not even call to tell us he would not be returning to complete the requested work? Can't wait to see if we actually get some kind of bill for this completely putrid effort. If this is the 'better plumber' around Lewes, then I can not even imagine what the others are like.
Great & responsive service at reasonable prices. Bob Giles showed-up on-time to do, what he thought was an estimate on 4 tasks, but when we advised him ""No there's been a mis-understanding, we need these done today."" He jumped on the project and knocked out running 30-40 foot of water line, fixing two outdoor bibs, recessing piping into a basement ceiling, and re-routing 10 foot of water line. Truly appreciate his skill and work; and willingness to get the job done for us. Highly recommend him.
Anthony P.Let me start by saying I am terrified by Plumbers!!!! Anytime I am at the mercy of a professional who makes me painfully aware of my own lack of mechanical skill I tremble. But not to worry! Mr. Giles laid all that to rest on his very first visit to give us a free estimate. He is polite, professional, patient and respectful. He explained every single aspect of the work he would have to perform and why. He was clearly very knowledgeable (in about 10 seconds he even found our main shut off valve which the people from the water company could not do about two weeks before!) and, most importantly, gave us a clear, item by item estimate which
was considerably less expensive than two previous estimates we had received. He arrived on schedule and in under 3 hours had installed a new water heater, including a re-routed pipe which blocked the removal of the old unit and replaced the old, rusted open and no longer functioning main shut off valve with new piping and insulation. We are already planning to use him for some other work that we would like done in and around the house. I'm going to say without hesitation that if you need a competent, honest, reasonably priced and efficient Plumber, Robert is your guy!
We had Bob Giles out to replace what we thought was a bad sump pump. When he pulled out the old one he said he thinks it's still good and it was. Saved us a new pump and charged us a minimal service call. Would certainly use him again.
Sean M.Excellent repair job by Mr. Giles. Was scheduled for a 9 AM appointment. He called saying he'd be 15 minutes late, but beat that estimate by five minutes. Imagine that - actually calling the customer to say you're running a bit late, then showing up earlier than your planned arrival! Other service providers in slower lower can (and should) take a hint from that! Once here, he promptly got to work, and took care of the problems we had. In 45 minutes, he was done and out the door. No fuss, no muss, and very professional and friendly. If you have a plumbing problem, and you don't call Bob Giles, you're wasting your money. His number is going in a safe place for future reference.
Matt P.Called on a Saturday and they came out on a Sunday. Pretty impressive. We had a leak out our outdoor shower and needed a reasonable plumber. Was on time at 830am and fixed the problem. Was fair priced and someone we will use for our next plumbing item. Thanks again.
