The original office of Affordable Fixes was a backyard in Philadelphia; at a young age, Val commenced going out on repair visits for his parent's company. During his upbringing in the field, Val often worked on a maintenance truck during his secondary school and post-secondary years, which is where he gained most of his experience in the HVAC and plumbing field. Shortly after Val's two-decade birthday, his father departed, and Val gathered his strength to honorably uphold the tradition of Affordable Fixes.
A decade later, Affordable Fixes has expanded from a one vehicle to multiple service and installation trucks. The company now specializes in the repair and installation of heating, cooling, and plumbing systems, IAQ systems, and fabrication services. We cater to both individuals and companies.
Our objective is to improve your indoor comfort by providing reliable climate control products and support.

I do respect the worker was nice but I just got really ripped off for almost $400 and still can't find the problem of my heater that is not working.(You can't just fixing stuff and ask for advise through call) They just suggest me to change stuffs that cost more and with no gurantee. And if I want to be guarantee is going change the entire boiler system. So I decide to get different guy to come in and he find the problem in less than 1hour and told me to buy a new controller parts and change it, That's all! and now it is back to work.
Had an appointment. Tech never showed and no one ever called with an explanation. My family had an emergency situation. Bad business.
The owner is disrespectful and overbearing she doesn't care how she talks to anyone and she put me and my home emergency and a very bad predicament I would not recommend this company to anyone if they have a real emergency they need something important taken care of
Someone claiming to be the owner called me and gave me a hard time after I choose another plumber. I was told that I didn't know how things worked and when I responded she accused me of abusing her.
I've been using affordable fixes for years and I always had a great experience until today. My AC unit is old and needed to be fixed. Now my unit is located on the roof and that's not information that is foreign to them. I told receptionist Amber when I book a job that the unit was located on the roof and we need a large ladder. Surprisingly enough, they sent a technician who did not know that the unit was on the roof and he did not have a ladder that was big enough or so after wasting an hour, he informed me that they will be sending out a different guy with a ladder. But he made sure to tell me about this membership program that they had that was affordable at $25 a month. That should save me a ton of money.
Technician showed up about 30 minutes after the first one left, I asked him about the membership. He told me about the savings I'd get and how it just made better sense financially. I looked at the bill which came to $587 BEFORE ANYONE did anything and said ""I can't do anything until you pay for this upfront"". Now I'm thinking that it's going to be a monthly bill like a home warranty is. It WASN'T.
So the guy goes up on the roof and comes down to tell me my ""options"". He tells me how the coolant that I use is outdated and they don't make units for it (but they still conveniently sell it for over $300 per pound of coolant) because of the ozone (WTH).
He goes to the truck and comes back with these ""recommendations"" that are between $3600 and $14K+ and that's ON TOP of the $587 I just paid. And I'm telling the guy that I can't afford that right now and I feel like I would have been better off without the membership and just paying the $85 service fee. He said ""yeah, call the office, they should be able to do something"".
So I called the office and spoke to Amber/Ember (not sure which way is correct) and explained my situation and felt like I could have made out better with the $85 service fee and was hoping that she could do something. She informed me that it is above her pay grade but I could talk to ""VAL"", who was her supervisor.
When I spoke to VAL, about it and how I'd been a customer for a long time, she started yelling at me and saying I called her a SCAMMER, which I didn't. I said that I would rather not have paid almost $600 bucks after waiting for the right guy with the ladder and etc. she said ""well I can refund the difference but COVID and the Ozone layer and blah blah blah. But I won't do business with you again"".
I was thrown off. ""Why are you yelling at me? I'm a customer who's been a loyal customer for years and your response to my situation is yelling and cutting me off?!?! I'm a business owner so I get how the pandemic affected us all but the yelling and then saying you won't work with me again? Really?""
She doubled down and was completely mean and nasty and condescending. She whipped up some numbers and allegedly I'll get back $104!
Affordable Fixes is trash. Amber is nice and so was Lawrence,(the first repair guy) but VAL has all of the kindness and gentleness of a porcupine doing goat yoga. I will never recommend them. The only reason I gave them one star was because you can't give negative stars. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!
Affordable Fixes charged more than $1500 to do less than 1 hour of work on my AC unit. 2 lbs of freon were added (I have no way or proving this exact amount) and a capacitor was replaced, so there were some expenses. The coil was cleaned of leaves and other debris, and the intake area was cleaned with acid. After completing the job, the repairman drove to the bank and cashed my check. Didn't deposit the check, CASHED it. Does this sound like a company you want to do business with? I won't ever again.
This is the WORST HVAC company I have ever done business with! Last year I was desperate to have my HVAC system replaced in a commercial property in Phila. I called around and got prices. These guys were the lowest, and they had what I needed in stock, so I went with them. Well, come to find out, their price was for only one zone of the two zone building! Now the price is MORE THAN DOUBLE their estimate. But as I say, no one else had the parts I needed, so I was over a barrel and went ahead. I gave them a big, fat deposit to get started. Well, the guy, Val, is calling me multiple time BEFORE THE WORK IS EVEN FINISHED, wanting to be paid in full. I tell them not until the install is complete. So they ""finished"" the install and I paid them in full.
Everything is looking okay until I get a call from the tenant late fall saying that there's no heat. I already don't trust this shady company, so I send my regular company down. Evidently, Affordable Fixes NEVER HOOKED UP THE GAS LINE! WTF! So a couple hundred dollars later and my normal company gets the system working for heat.
But it gets worse... A few months ago, I get a call from the tenant that there's something leaking down the wall from one of the units. Again, I call my regular people, and they do a diagnostic and tell me that the system wasn't installed properly, including that the roof unit was never secured to the roof, and had fallen down, among other issues! Plus, it's gonna be nearly $3,000 to fix it! At this, I'm livid and email Affordable fixes with this information. They try to weasel their way out of it by saying that since this other company ""tampered"" with the system, the warranty was now invalid! Since when is performing a diagnostic ""tampering""?!? And this was a company I had done business with for YEARS who did exemplary work.
After many emails and phone calls, I finally get the owner, Val, to meet me at the property on June 3, 2022, and he agrees to honor the warranty. We set up an appointment for the following week. They don't show up. They don't call. So I called them and was told that the technician had called in sick. Really? And nobody lets me know so I can call the tenant, who was waiting all day for them?
Finally, they go out there and say that the roof unit had fallen down, but again try to shift blame by accusing some phantom criminal of climbing on the roof and knocking the unit over. Really? But they didn't steal anything? And no one working at this business, which is a 7 day/week operation, noticed them? They did however agree to replace the compressor under warranty, which had somehow gone bad after less than a year of operation. There was a huge coolant leak, which was what was leaking down the wall as reported by the tenant. So they invoiced me for over $800 for coolant that somehow leaked out of a months old system. When I refused to pay it, they told me that they would not replace the compressor (the warranty work they had agreed to do) until I pay them for the coolant.
They did this via email, in writing, so apparently they're also dumb enough to leave an electronic trail of their extortion.
During this time, one of the zones was still working, so I had hoped the tenant could limp along through the time it would take for resolution with only one of the systems in operation. Well, now, I get multiple calls and emails that there's no AC whatsoever in the building, that it's an emergency, and according to their lease, they have the right to hire someone to fix it and charge me for it plus for ""administrative costs"". And they are correct. Plus, I feel terrible that anyone has to work under those conditions, despite my outlay of over $30,000.00 for a brand new system only a year ago, which by rights should have fixed the problem for at least multiple years.
So I've again sent the emails from the tenant to Affordable Fixes, texted the owner, called the company, and they still refuse to handle the problem. I called the manufacturer, Mitsubishi, and explained the entire course of events. They told me that they did in fact send Affordable Fixes a brand new compressor, but they have no power to force them to actually fix the system and put it in. And they had to audacity to hang up on me just because I called them ""shady"". There are quite a few more choice words I can think of well beyond shady for this kind of despicable business practice. And they still have possession of the compressor they were supposed to install.
So now I have found another Mitsubishi 4 Diamond certified contractor, but they are not available for 2 days, and who knows how much it will cost to fix this mess Affordable Fixes created!
My next step is to get my lawyer involved. Frustrating beyond belief!!!
This company is the worst I paid $85 just for them to come out. I was told that I needed a capacitator for my central air unit and that it would cost approximately $300. I still have the box from the capacitator that was installed and the old part. I decided to see how much the part cost and found them for $20. Basically I have been robbed. I hope all that have been over charged will contact the Attorney General Office, the Better Business Bureau and I'm contacting a news channel to see if they will do something on price gouging. Also spoke with Val so she's use to the tactics and of no help.
Bob T.Beware! These guys charged me $85.00 for an estimate! Called it a service call, never touched a tool. $85.00 for a 20 minute visit to look at work!
Stay away from this company.. They came to my office to fix a plumbing issue and charged me for the repair... Unfortunately the part was faulty and they had to come out and fix the issue again less than 6 weeks later. They charged me the labor for the repair which I refuse to pay. I would refuse to do business with any company that does not warranty work they do. Stay away from them. Affordable Fixed I think not. Scam Fixes would be a better name for them
