I very rarely write reviews but felt the need to speak up here given a horrific experience with Adriatic. Would recommend you choose literally anyone else for your plumbing needs.
I called Adriatic in to fix a leak in the bathroom, in the process of fixing this they broke the toilet. Adriatic claimed that the toilet was already broken but it was working fine till they arrived. I was forced to purchase a new toilet and install it in addition to paying Adriatic for the original fee to fix the leak. Adriatic also broke some of the siding on my bathroom wall in the process. Adriatic refused to provide any compensation despite photo evidence. In addition they refused to provide me with their insurance information/COI, I had to get this from my co-op management company. I will be filing a claim with the insurance company to try to get compensated for the damages caused by Adriatic. Unfortunately it looks like I'm not the only one who has had an extremely negative experience with this organization.
Avoid at all costs.
Sadly, I did not have a good experience with Adriatic Plumbers. We had a problem with the cold water pressure in the shower, and also wanted a very simple swap-out of our toilet valve and toilet seat.
The plumber came very late for the first appointment: 3 hours after scheduled, and also after the official working building hours, so he was unable to complete the work. Since he was in the apartment for less than 5 minutes, we didn't think we were being charged for the work, but we were billed for 2 hours. After much argument on the phone, we got that down to 1 hour ($148).
For the second appointment: they swapped in a new shower head without asking us! Why?! We had a lovely Restoration Hardware one that had been working fine for years, and they put in a much smaller, less nice shower head without even calling us and asking. This did fix the water pressure issue but only by making the shower much less nice to use. The materials cost $87 and the labor cost $613 (for 3.5 hours). Honestly, I wouldn't mind paying this amount if they had fixed the problem with the cold water pressure in the original shower head.
I should note that they did properly swap out the toilet fill valve and toilet seat. I just don't think it was worth $760! I honestly hate to complain about services - especially during Covid, I really want to support local workers - but I don't recommend Adriatic Plumbing to anyone.
Jen G.Absolutely the worst, most unprofessional, plumbers you could hire. They BROKE my gas valve which was in fine working order before they shut it off for a kitchen renovation (per my building's request). Also added what I came to find out was an illegal valve extension. They REFUSE to fix the damage they caused. Now my co-op board won't allow me to shut off the gas to have it replaced by a proper plumber, and I have no working stove in the apartment, have to try and replace with electric, all thanks to Adriatic Plumbing.
Basically, these people are criminals. They actually DAMAGED our stove valve, and then tried to blackmail us for hundreds and hundreds of dollars to have it fixed. They won't just do a bad job with repairs, they will leave you worse off than you were before. Don't use them unless you know a good lawyer... because you're gonna need one.
I just want to add one more negative review. Beware their charges for overtime. The plumbers arrived late in the morning on two days and stayed after 4pm--which led to charges for overtime (and they don't tell you that they are going on overtime).
In addition, in replacing a toilet, they broke through the wall and left a pipe sticking out beyond the wall surface, so there was no way to tile over the protruding pipe.
Finally, they disconnected the dishwasher when they did the repair work and left it unconnected.
They refused to acknowledge that the overtime charges were improper.
Cecille C.Please stay away from this business as far as you can, unless you'd like to drain your money down to the hole. I had the flushometer replaced by the plumber and his assistant from this company. Before they started the work, the plumber has mentioned that they were bringing the materials on the way and it takes 3-4 hours to finish the work. The business person from this office also confirmed that it takes 3-4 hours to finish. The plumber came at 9:20 in the morning and finally he finished his work at 2:50 PM. From 12pm to 1:30pm the plumber and his assistant were completely gone and came back with their coke cup in hand. I argued with the office why I had to pay for their lunch time and the office told me that ""oh, they didn't have lunch, they were shopping for the materials for the fix"".
You can judge on your own before you select their services.
I asked Adriatic Plumbing to fix a leak underneath my sink and to fix a mixing valve in my shower. They spent 4 hours at my apartment (including 2 hours to go shopping), charged me $786.49, didn't listen to advice from my super, and (partly as a result) weren't able to fix the mixing valve. I am used to plumbers being expensive in Manhattan but I expect that they're able to fix things. You can do better even if you think $786 is a fair price for fixing a leak.
Kim P.unprofessional - won't give you an ETA on arrival, yet they come late. Without getting too granular, they sent someone to assess my work - in other words, they had ALLL the information needed for the appointment to complete the work. They show up day of (with two guys - of course they charge more, yet the 2nd guy stood there) and didn't complete - all of a sudden they didnt have the right tools. Yet, they knew the scope of the work. So now, I have to pay them AGAIN and it's a 2 hour minimum - what a scam. I wish I read these reviews prior too.
that said, they didnt even properly fix the diverter and now i am waiting past their appointment window to see how they can fix their mistake - and I am sure I will need to pay again.
Rip off - unprofessional - untrustworthy.
Not kidding...read these other reviews. I review businesses - both good and bad and not just to complain. So take heed...
This company ""contracts"" with large complexes (co-ops)- read that as gives a kickback to - and then radically Oversubscribes their one truck for plumbing services which they are then unable to perform.
The problem with this company is actually getting them to you before you use up your vacation or sick days waiting for them to show up.
Here it is...the short story...Just Don't. Their desk staff is lovely, they are prompt in their response and caring. But the plumber will not show up, on time, with parts, ready to solve your problem. Do not contact Andriaric.
Unfortunately I didn't check Yelp before calling Adriatic so I wasn't aware of all of the horrible reviews from past customers. My mistake. I had an extremely unpleasant experience with this company and would strongly encourage looking elsewhere. I first contacted them back in December to look at a leaky faucet. The mechanic was there about 5 minutes and was able to give us a temporary fix which lasted a week because he didn't have the part needed for a full fix. We were charged a ""2 hour minimum"" fee for the pleasure. Fast forward to this past Friday we made the mistake of having them come again to look at the same issue as well as a drainage issue in the tub. This mechanic (who I had a very difficult time understanding) told me the drainage issue was now fixed and the sink needs a new faucet. He wasn't sure what the last mechanic (from the same company) was talking about.
Four days later the faucet still leaks, the tub still isn't draining, and I'm hit with an outrageously high invoice. Customer service was incredibly unhelpful (although pretty calm while I was not - happy to give credit where credit is due) and basically just kept citing that I should have let them know the issues weren't resolved sooner (well it's been 4 days and I called the minute I received the invoice...) and that the drainage issue is not covered by warranty (whatever that means...). I told them I understand that they need to charge for their time and offered $150 as a fair compromise even though they provided absolutely no value to me. They declined and charged our credit card the full amount, again citing this lack of warranty argument. Bottom line, do yourself a favor and deal with a more reputable and honest company.
