Recommended Customer Reviews
I should have read the other reviews on this board before getting Adriatic. Instead I trusted the recommendation of my building superintendent. Sounds like other people had their super recommend Adriatic as well only to have a terrible experience makes me wonder if there's some kickback or something. WOuldn't surprise me because my recent personal experience leaves me to conclude that they are dishonest or incompetent or both. As per all the other reviews they sold me a 2 hour visit for $300, looked at 3 issues and then shrugged and said they couldn't fix anything without parts which means they would need to come back for another 2 hour minimum service call at $300. I am not giving Adriatic $600 to replace a faucet. Unfortunately I did lose $300 but decided to cut my losses there. If Adriatic was honest they would tell people up front that most service calls require at least two visits. They would explain that 90 percent of jobs require parts to be replaced and they never have parts on hand. If Adriatic was competent they would try to diagnose the problem over the phone or some other way other than a $300 visit to confirm what I told them - the faucet is leaking!
Throughout the whole process the attitude from the call staff and service people just exuded apathy and disinterest. Their business is not by doing work and fixing plumbing issues, its by making as many 2 hour visits as they can in a day and charging people $300 dollars for 5 min of work.
BTW - they were 4 hours later than when they said they would arrive (4pm) and told me they were going to charge overtime for the call because it was after 4!!!! Only after I protested did they rescind but this useless service call almost cost more.
Stay away from this company. We renovated our apartment and our super recommended them for our sprinklers system (as of now they're banned from our building). Adriatic did a horrible job, never filed the work with the DOB - as they HAD TO - and left us with the wrong work (they were supposed to install additional sprinklers heads - for which we paid, as per contract, over $5000 - but just did not). When it was time to sign off our renovation at the DOB we had to hire a different firm to do the job as per plans. Adriatic never took responsibility - but they took the money. The result was time (a lot!) and money (even more) down the drain. But of course they don't care, they got their pay, who cares about doing the work. Crooks.
Cary G.Came to my office, insulted patients in the waiting room and refused to do the work. Left me with a worse problem and charged my card $600. Had to hire another plumber to fix what they broke.
I used Adriatic Plumbing at the recommendation of the Super to fix a leaky faucet in the bathroom sink in my late mother's empty apartment. I don't live near the building, so I couldn't be there when the plumber came. After I called to have them check the sink, I did not hear back. I called the next day, and the woman I spoke to had no information on the status of the job. I asked if she could find out what happening and call me, all she could do was say she would call me the next day when she had the bill. A week later I finally got a call back. The cost was just over $1,000. I was shocked. I asked what I was being charged for. She said it was 3-1/2 hours labor for a ""mechanic"" and an assistant. I was charged an hourly rate foreach of them. When I've used plumbers in my house, I am only charged the hourly rate for one person even if 2 or more show up. I feel like I was taken advantage of. They replaced the speedy valves and put in a new faucet. Parts were about $150, the rest was labor and tax. I'm no plumber, but I think this is outrageous. There was no communication from the company, except to tell me what my credit card was being charged. She pointed out that most of their calls the homeowner is there, but still that's no excuse for not being able to keep me (the customer) informed. Needless to say I will never use them again.
NY Y.A totally ripped off and completely scam. They arrived late, spend little time fooling around and most time went out to buy material. Left after 1.5 hours refused to sign the accurate time, and charged for 3 hours. Kept calling them but they are playing deadbeat.
Alison F.We called Adriatic Plumbing upon recommendation from our Superintendent in the building. It was a fairly simple job to clear up a backed up sink. They let us know it would be a minimum 2 hour charge and we would be charged for a plumber and a helper. The job was small and should have taken less than an hour, but they charged us 3 hours. In addition, our sink didn't work again about a week later and they said they wouldn't come back to fix their faulty work unless we paid for another service call. They were also rude when we called back. We will never use them again and have told everyone in our building not to use them.
Stuart P.I called this company about replacing the seal in my toilet. I was told that the cost would be $204.00 per hour plus parts with a minimum of 2 hours. They had to send a plumber and a helper. They would look to see what was needed and if they didn't have the part with them, they would need to go back to the shop to get it while they were on the clock. They wanted a credit card number over the phone. The price is a total rip off. I got someone else to do the job of replacing a $2 part by himself in 20 minutes for $65.00. When I told him about how much the company wanted to charge he could not believe it. This company is a total ripoff. Find some place else. There are many way less expensive plumbers around. BEWARE.
Bunch of thiefs that's what this business is. They will charge you 3x the cost of the job. A complete scam
This company is a total ripoff. They look for every possible way to charge you as much as possible including sending an assistant when it's not necessary, not bringing the supplies they were told they would need so they can bill for the time spent shopping for the forgotten supplies, etc. stay away.
I very rarely write reviews but felt the need to speak up here given a horrific experience with Adriatic. Would recommend you choose literally anyone else for your plumbing needs.
I called Adriatic in to fix a leak in the bathroom, in the process of fixing this they broke the toilet. Adriatic claimed that the toilet was already broken but it was working fine till they arrived. I was forced to purchase a new toilet and install it in addition to paying Adriatic for the original fee to fix the leak. Adriatic also broke some of the siding on my bathroom wall in the process. Adriatic refused to provide any compensation despite photo evidence. In addition they refused to provide me with their insurance information/COI, I had to get this from my co-op management company. I will be filing a claim with the insurance company to try to get compensated for the damages caused by Adriatic. Unfortunately it looks like I'm not the only one who has had an extremely negative experience with this organization.
Avoid at all costs.
