Jessi P.I WOULD NOT REFER MY ENEMIES TO ACTION
After gettine 2 bids and Action being a little less expensive than the other I went with them to replace our furnace and central air conditioning unit. And that is the beginning of how I wasted a whole summer waiting for their technicians day after day to come to my house to fix problems with the new unit. Including taking out the first unit they installed and reinstalling another new unit. For a total of 13 times they came but I waited an entire summer for these 13 visists because they would tell me I was on the schedule for tomorrow every night and the next evening after waiting all day for them to show up I would get the same call stating "" I am sorry we could not make it out to your house today but we have you on the schedule for tomorrow"" On top of that when I very first opened the door the day they came to install I answered the door to one of the men smoking on my porch and he installed the outside unit to the air conditioner and I found a bunch more cigarette butts scattered through my garden which was next to where he was working that whole day I was a bit upset about that as well
I was very worried to turn on the furnace after all of the problems with the air conditioning unit. I would never ever ever use or refer Action to anyone I know
Amy A.DO NOT CALL THEM!!!! Our water heater went out over the weekend. We called them in the morning and did not receive a call back until 4pm. We were told a technician would arrive within the hour. No one had arrived by 6pm and we called again. We received a call from the technician 30 minutes later. After a 5 minute conversation with my husband the technician ""diagnosed"" the problem as the gas valve needing to be replaced....for $450!!!!!!!
David H.These guys are complete rip off artists. Called them out on a sunday to replace a bad thermocouple on our water heater. When i talked to the technician on the phone he said he could fix it and it would cost $400.00!!!! I asked him if they offered military discounts and he said ""not on sundays!"" CANT BELIEVE HE SAID THAT!!!! Lowes price for the coupler was $10.28. Once I youtubed how to replace it. It took me an hour. IN OTHER WORDS....HE WAS GONNA CHARGE ME $389.00 in labor for one hour of work. I will never....ever recommend this company to anyone!!!!! completely unprofessional. Not a good way to run a business. I wish there was a zero rating. Do not call these people!!!!!!!!!!
Jason S.We're in a 7yr old home that we built. We had some flooding earlier this year due to an outdoor fixture not being angled correctly and froze during the really cold last winter. We were referred to Action Plumbing by the recovery company to fix the pipes in a hurry. We were lulled into their ""Maintenance"" program for AC/Furnace at a ""Combined low price"" for purchasing at the same time as the plumbing work was being done.
While they were here, we had a shower that wouldn't spray hot water that we had them look at. They wanted to replace the entire piping and fixtures - everything, for a ridiculous amount. Problem: the pressure valve that keeps the toilet from affecting the shower was faulty. The plumber pulled it out because he had ""no idea what this is"". The part was under warranty and replacing it fixed the issue.
When they came out to do the first round of ""maintenance"" it really just turned into a ""let's look for anything possible to charge for"". They wanted to replace several parts, and charge 4x the price to do some cleaning that the next company we called charged us for. So, anyways, we were ready to not use their service again because we'd already been deceived in their previous visit. We went ahead and did the cleaning with the other company, but the other company called BS on everything else that Action told us.
Action called and scheduled the next ""maintenance"" (sales) visit for today, and my wife had set up the appointment. (I thought we weren't going to schedule them again.) They show up and tell me I have a ""bunch of cracks"" in the heating components that are leaking carbon monoxide. Sounds pretty serious.
They get their sales guy out to my house to show me on their little probe device, and sure enough to my untrained eye, it looks like a pretty bad crack with other little cracks around it. He also goes on to tell me that my R22 frion is going to be illegal to sell as of January 1, 2015, and that if I ever need to charge my AC unit that I'll have to replace it. But conveniently enough they would give me a $1500 discount if I bought both a furnace and AC unit. They give me a quote for some units and were using car dealer tactics to get me to sign and get things going before I could research anything. From the previous visits, I knew they were bold-faced liars, so after I saw them off, I got on the phone with another company and did minimal research on the proposed replacement units. First, R22 won't be completely discontinued until 2020, and second, the same unit that he bid to me was $5200 cheaper than what he had quoted me.
We had the same company come out and take another look. They went over the heating elements very carefully while I watched. Couldn't find any cracks, but as I watched, I saw some stains and scratches that looked like the ""cracks"" that Action had shown me. The repair guy then showed me how he could scratch the surface of the pipe to make things look like cracks to an untrained eye. He also went through with a carbon monoxide sniffer tool and didn't find any CO leaks.
TL;DR: Action will lie directly to your face, quote outrageous prices, and pressure you to make a decision without any research. Stay away.
Seth C.I cant give zero stars. our unit went out. called them first. the ""technician"" said we needed a new unit. he told us that it was leaking oil and that was the root cause. said it would cost between 2-6k, tried to sell us on 6k unit most. called a second guy and he said our unit shouldn't be leaking oil and it appears that the oil was poured on. he said all he needed to fix was the fan, total charge including labor $150. either action is hiring incompetent people or they have shady practices. after reading the reviews on other websites, I think it's both.
Con artists, pure and simple. More then just dishonest, they actively try and rope you into sales for things you don't need misleading you however they can along the way. They are not even an actual heating and plumbing company, they are an advertising/sales company that contracts everything out, usually to the most unqualified, cheapest labor they can find.
If you have any questions about your furnace or gas appliances/leaks , call Questar first, they will come out for free and do things that action would charge you 100+ bucks for, and actually give you honest information.
Unfortunately I called Questar AFTER I got conned into an $8,000 system, due to a sub-par installation by Action resulting in me having to evacuate my house due to a gas leak. MULTIPLE code violations found with the install that Action performed (which the Questar guy corrected for free). Questar guy even admitted they are known for being a bunch of con artist hacks.
Long story short, I would have been safer with the alleged ""crack in my heat exchanger"" found by Action (which never set off any CO alarms in my house, and probably didn't actually exist) then i was with the massive gas leak caused by them milking me for 8 grand.
Jodi B.My water heater went out around Thursday (10/16), we didn't realize it was a pilot light issue until Saturday night (10/18). I tried to call the company whose sticker was on the water heater, but they didn't answer their phone, so I called Action Plumbing and Heating because I'd heard their commercials and thought they'd be good. I called them Sunday morning, talked to a Mary and she took down my info and said they'd call me with an ETA when someone could come out that day. I never got a call and so on Monday I called them, spoke to a Nicole, and she told me Mary took down my phone number wrong and since they couldn't get a hold of me they cancelled my appointment! She said she would make a new appointment for Tuesday (10/21) between 11-2 (I told them I needed someone before 5 since my husband leaves for class then, but works from home before that), they took down my husbands info since he'd be the one there and they'd need to call him with the status updates. 11:30 they called to confirm we still wanted them to come and said they'd have someone call 30 minutes before they arrive. 1:19 still no call or person! 1:40 they called and said we are next and that they will call again when someone is on their way. 4:47 called and said they are on their way (gotta give them credit for calling, but everything else gets an F-!!) 5:20 hubby has left for class and now I get to deal with them and the guy shows up. I show him our water heater and he doesn't even look at our pilot light or inspect the unit. He tells me right off that it's an old unit and should be replaced (how the hell do you know that when you haven't even touched it?!). I told him it was expected since a few of our neighbors had to replace theirs. He tells me he can replace it for $1400!! I told him that was above the budget my husband and I agreed upon (because we thought anything over $1000 was ridiculous and joked about that!). He said that gave us a great warranty and be top of the line. I told him we found some online for under $300 and he said that was for a version like what we already had and wouldn't last very long. I told him we only needed something for like 5 years since that's the longest we plan on being here and he finally looked at the unit and said since everything is up to code and he could use it all he could take it down to $1100. I told him that was still above our price range and that my grandma got hers replaced for about $600. He said that doesn't seem possible with a plumber. I told him I'd like to get a second opinion. He said he could give us financing for $30 a month. I told him the end result is still over what we wanted to spend and that I'd still like a second opinion. He finally got the hint and left. What a waste of time this company is and I'm so irritated at their lack of professionalism! I will NEVER use them again and I'm definitely letting everyone I know and the internet about my awful experience. Given what I've read it won't be news to this company!!!
WARNING! I paid these guys $510 to repair two issues I was having. They over charge and when I called because I was still having an issue with the dripping faucet, which I paid to have parts replaced on and still having problems, they wanted to charge me $140 to come out and repair again. I will never use these guys again, dishonest, over charge!
Dustin V.had a plumbing problem call action plumbing jus like we did when they replaced our ac last month. it was a stopped up toilet. the came out and said the will snake it and showed me two different pricing one if the had to do this and one if they had to do this. after 15mins he snaked the toilet and let water run for 20 mins, put his stuff back in the van and came back in and said it will be 537$ i thought that was a lot but i paid. over the weakend i kept thinking this was way way way overpriced so on monday i called 3 other companies and got quotes the highest being 150 and the lowest 137$ thats 400 less then i was charged a loyal repeat customer. do your self a favor and shop around and don't call these guys!!!!!!
Jenn O.ACTION I S A RIP OFF!!
We called action to tune up a 4 year old
A/C unit they said they cleaned it and said everything was fine ...One week later it didn't run .. Another tech came out and said the first tech didn't clean it very we'll .. Worked for 2 days then quit ... A third tech from Action came out and say it would be $2800 to fix it .. Even with the warranty .. Remember it's only 4 years old.. But he also says if I join their yearly service program he could put a New Air conditioner in for only $2800 .. Wow .. Called whipper they fix it for $69.00 .. Action is a Rip off ..save yourself and you money STAY AWAY!!!!
