Beware - They take advantage of senior citizens!

My dad who is 81 had them come out to clear his sewer drain after it backed up. They charged him $1500 to clean the line. The sewer backed up two days later. After two more visits they still didn't resolve the problem and the city showed pictures of the unresolved issue. My dad called Remarkable Rooter who came out and cleared the line. They only charged $150. My dad called Action and asked for a refund. The adjuster had the guts to say ""I don't think you understand what 'cleaning out a line' means"". And after 20 minutes of verbal abuse told him they would refund him the $150 that he paid Remarkable Rooter ""take it or leave it!"" So my dad who is on a fixed income is out $1350. Real classy to take advantage of an 81 year old and not stand by your work.
I will be pursuing this further and look forward to a conversation with the adjuster on Monday - who I assume is the boss at the insurance company from The Incredibles.

I am very, very disappointed with the service from this company. Three years ago, I called them out because my central air wasn't working. They said my central air was fine. They said I needed a new furnace. My furnace had been working fine. I believed them and then after that central air never worked. I ended up having family emergencies and went out of state. Central air still not working. I called them out again and they said central air condenser gone so I needed a new one. I believed them and central air is working sub par and furnace speed on fan is so slow you have to put your hand right on vent to feel the air. I still have to use a fan in my room and it all cost me about 9,000 dollars. There were some issues with billing. I told them I needed to be on a three year plan at 5.999 percent interest, when I get the copy to sign, it says 18 months at 24.99 percent after that. I would never recommend this company. I am very ill with two lung diseases.

Our old central air unit is beginning to fail. We had action come out to check it out, a very jolly English tech came out. He told us the unit is so old it would be dishonest for him to charge us the $2000 to repair it. He suggested replacing it. The service tech was professional and lovely.

They sent out a sales guy Bobby, who was very guarded about costs and numbers. Almost combative.
He spoke in terms that were not common to anyone who wasn't a HVAC tech. Seeming annoyed when asked to explain.
He had a hand written price list for both furnace and air conditioning. Hand written!? Do the prices change so often they can't print up a brochure? We were told we could not make a photo copy. When asked what brand he was selling us , he replied ""the best brand"". We had to ask further fact finding questions to just get the Brand name. Its Amana, they only sell Amana. In case you have the same issue.
He began deleting various service plans, labor plans etc.. suddenly the cost had been cut in HALF compared to his (again, unprofessional at best . Handwritten) price lists.

We then asked him for a written quote, he said he didn't want to WASTE a quote form. He is charged $20 for each form. So, I should feel amazing about spending more than most cars are selling for with this company... but he can't put anything in writing? Because it costs too much for him ? Got it, my business is not valued to him or his company. Not worth the cost of a sheet of paper. Literally. He did offer to email the quote. But didn't bother getting an email address or confirming that he had one and that it was correct. ( if that was given at the time when my husband called) This is customer service 101, confirm contact info .
He also in the course of the conversation stated he could point out the ""cracks"" in my furnace that make it unsafe and illegal to operate. Did he just threaten me , in my own home!?
Customer service matters, transparency in pricing matters. When I am offered a 10 year service plan and I do not feel like the first contact is a positive customer service experience, why would I PAY for this and commit to dealing with it for TEN years!?
This felt like a sleezy car buying experience from the minute Bobby walked in.

I will say that it is Saturday, it is 100 degrees out. The service tech was here in less than an hour, the sales tech followed 2 hours later. The service was prompt, and honestly had there been less secrecy in the pricing, and a willingness to explain each option in laymen terms, we may have given the sale to this company. Sadly this sale guy lacks many social skills needed in his job. We will continue to shop around.

An A/C scam.

My A/C unit quit working during the hot summer. Called Action. Big mistake. Everything was fine until the ""technician"" (Jeff Packard) came to check it out.

He quickly said that my compressor was completely bad and that I needed to replace the entire A/C unit with a brand new one at a cost of $5K+. No other options or fixes. Only one brand offered. This overpriced sales push was just the beginning.

Something seemed up. This guy had too many catch phases going about selling me a new unit. I didn't buy completely that I needed a new one nor that it had to cost that much even if he was right. I told him frankly that I was going to get a second opinion. He shrugged his shoulders. I asked him to write down the details of his offer which he never did. I paid the $60 diagnostic fee and he left.

Later on that day, I called a local AC repair guy off of KSL and asked for a second opinion. He came back after looking at my AC unit and said that it was a simple capacitor gone bad problem...NOT the compressor. A vastly cheaper fix (which he took care of). He said that it was very easy to see (bubbling on the capacitor) and that not only was this not reported by the previous ""sales"" technician but that the scam artist had actually unplugged the wires going to the capacitor so it wouldn't work regardless. Mr Action Plumbing-Jeff Packard had totally lied about the problem and tried to make it even worse!! What a scam artist. His whole goal was to simply sell me an overpriced new unit.

The second, honest technician, fixed my unit with a far cheaper option of a new capacitor. I paid for some additional Freon needed, now my house is a cool as ever.

Don't hire Action. The technician wasn't a true ""service"" technician, he was a ""sales"" technician. Tried to scam me into buying a brand new unit and lied about it!

I called Jeff the next morning and explained my ethical objection to his so-called ""diagnosis"" service. Before I even got into the pulled wires evidence, he tried defending himself as not a liar even though I never said he was. It was clear to me that he had had this conversation with others before.

Later on, when I spoke with the other local technicians (whom I should've called first), they all said they had heard of this scam before especially with Action.

On the positive side, he said he would refund my $59 diagnosis/service visit fee. I'm waiting to make sure that happens now.

Warranty is no good if you cannot get the help you need when you need it. Brand new $10,000 AC unit breaking constantly and a 2 week wait for a fix?

I found this company through Uintah Fireplaces last year (2017). Uintah helped me fix my gas fireplace and they were very good. So, I asked if they can help me with my very old AC unit. they recommended ""Good, better and best."" I opted for ""better"" for the price of $9,800. It was after I paid, they told me that their sister company, Action, will be following up.

The AC unit started breaker as soon as the temperature rose above 90. It kept breaking. Every time it broke, it took them 2 to 3 days (or a week) to come out. The house still wasn't cooling, so I had them move my return vent on the second floor higher. Their ""drywall guy"" was supposed to call me to fix the hole (included in the price). He never showed. I ended it fixing it out of my pocket.

This year (2018), the temperature climbed above 90, and the circuit for the AC and the furnace blew. They gave me a wait time of 2 weeks. I called another HVAC professional. It turns out that the electrical system they installed was not compatible. I spent another $1,500. I wish I could sue them for pain and suffering.

We came home to find water in the basement drain, so we called around to various companies to see if we could get someone out on short notice (Saturday morning) and Action was able to send someone out in a few hours. That is where the positive experience ended. The guy came out to look and told us we had a blockage in our main drain line to the city. He told us the price would be over $600 because he needed to the remove the toilet to snake the line and would also need a camera (extra charge) in order to warranty the service. After 3 hours of work he determined that the snake could not remove the blockage and the camera image was too blurry to make out what it was. His recommendation was to have the line hydrojetted at a cost of an additional $1600. I told him we would think about our options and get back to him. I called my home warranty company for a referral and they found another company that can do the hydrojetting and sent them out to complete the work. We ended up paying $350 to jet the line and the blockage was cleared in no time and without incident.

I would also like to point out that the technician was very grumpy and didn't really want to be there, which didn't help the situation.

I do not recommend this company given my experience and the outrageous fees they charge compared to our reputable companies.

Simply: Waited 5 hours one night, when was told on phone a tech would be to residence within 2 hours. Next morning came hour after time window set forth (8-10 am, came at 11). Charged 30 % more than 2 other companies and were very unapologetic regarding the delay. Heat was off and interfered greatly with schedule. Tech was ok, company experience was awful.

I had to fix my relay on my humidifier and Jimi from Action Plumbing did a great job of quickly identifying the problem and the cost was very reasonable.

I have had them in my home for a few jobs and other than my tankless (which they recommended I call a certified dealer for the brand), were able to always fix. Highly recommend.

ACTION plumbing has been great to work with, they promptly responded to our contact info at the home show and arrived on time after we scheduled the install of a whole house humidifier. The technicians were friendly and respectful. They put down drop-cloths and treated my flooring and walls with caution. They were careful not to let the dog out as they brought in supplies and they worked efficiently to install the system. Pleased with the excellent service and excited to experience the benefits of the humidifier in our home.

I wouldn't give them any stars if I could. They installed a HVAC system after the last one they installed (less than 5 years ago) was malfunctioning constantly. After we spent thousands on the new system they said additional work needed to be done and made multiple appointments to come do the follow up work (another air intake on the second floor) and never showed up. They won't return our phone calls and of course won't come back to the house to make good on their 10 year guarantee. They also did really shoddy work on installing the piping (didn't glue it together so it came apart). Definitely not EVER using them again and hope you don't get sucked into their services either.
