I've used these guys three times over 6 years. The first two times were for a backed up pipe in the laundry room: they came a second time because there were now roots in the pipe that needed cleared with special tools and they did a good job - no issues since.

Most recently, I called them to install new shower heads and faucets. The plumber came out and told me to call someone else to replace the faucets because they didn't touch the type I had. Knowing I had to pay him $99 anyway for a call out fee, we asked him to install new shower heads. He did the job, but left all the old pipe sitting. Instead of a new-looking shower, I have an old shower pipe with a new head - a job I could have done myself. He replaced one faucet in a sink and then charged is $275 for the job.

I feel like this company is good at dealing with blocked pipes and underwhelming at dealing with new faucets. They told us to call Quality Plumbing to do the job instead. But if I'd done that I'd have been put $100 just for a referral.

In summary, I won't call them again. You'd think that when I had explained what I wanted on the phone they could have saved everyone a bunch of time and money by referring me to a specialist at that time. Now I have to get someone else to come and redo all the work I had wanted done in the first place.

Action Jackson is an amazing company with great employees. We were recently going through some medical issues and on top of that our bathtub/shower backed up and would not drain, the timing was terrible. Within 1 hour from our call Action Jackson was onsite and had our drains cleared and flowing great. I would not only use them again in a heartbeat but would recommend them to anyone and everyone! - Ken

Don is THE MAN!! We had a pipe burst and he was able to fit us in between appointments when all other companies tried to push us back for days... including a company we USED to use all the time. Don was in and out in no time and great price! Can't recommend him and Action Jackson enough... we used to use that other company, but now Action Jackson has our business for life! Thank you again, Don!!

Update 4/2/19: Removed reference to AJ having provided a lower price to an acquaintance, because it was wrong and off topic. Added response to AJ question about line still flowing.

Paid $786 for 45 minutes of work to clear and jet a clogged sewer, and the job wasn't even completed. They left me with an estimate for $3,250 for repairs, including finishing the cleaning and inspection. Will never use again, would never recommend. Service was way back on 12/10/18. Considered writing a review then but life has other plans and priorities. Posted now because I'd heard mention of AJ from an acquaintance.

Was out of town when my sewer backed up. My daughter handled the initial response and cleanup (thanks kiddo!) Several plumbers gave similar quotes. Chose AJ because despite some negative reviews they seemed to be responsive to them and generally fair. First surprise is after quoting $695, they want to add $20 for their use of their truck. Not an option, just part of the price added ""below the line"". Second surprise, they couldn't guarantee the video I wanted. I would have to ask the service person when they arrive ""if they could do it"".

When they arrived, the toilet closest to the exterior sewer line had already been pulled by a (good) friend in an attempt to snake the line for me, thus saving AJ the work of removing and installing the toilet. Discount? Naw. They jetted the line, and cleared a clog caused by root intrusion, but were unable to reach the street main as agreed. Discount? Nope. Over the phone they told me the line was now flowing, but they hadn't been able to reach the street due to their equipment and the access point. A cleanout would need to be installed ($$). I told them about a cleanout under a porch where the line exits the house. Surprise #3, the $695 quote (plus $20!) is only for the first hour! Despite having been there just over 30 minutes and not finishing the agreed work, I would have to agree to another hour for $250. I agreed, feeling I had no choice. They opened the cleanout and declared was too small for their equipment (3"" instead of 4""). Again with the wrong equipment. At least they didn't charge me the surprise $250 for the second hour.

So they left in under an hour without reaching the city main as quoted, and leaving a quote for over $3,200 to fix the root intrusion and install a cleanout, and pay again for them to finish the job I'd already paid for.

Considering the price for an hour's work, the absurd add-on fees, the surprises along the way, I'd never again agree to their service. I understand they have no control over what surprises they come across when they quote a price and show up. They should be clear what they're quoting and set expectations correctly. I told them what I wanted, and they quoted a price. From there on things got slippery.

Also, they post the video I wanted to YouTube. The resolution is worse than pics my daughter snapped of their video screen, and is largely worthless for anything beyond a general look ""inside"". It doesn't even include the distance measures shown on their screen.

Response to AJ 3/25/29:

Let me see if I can also respond fairly: Firstly, I wrote that I had called around. You weren't the cheapest, but the cheapest were booked for weeks. Among those that could come within several days, you were all about the same. If you had finished the job, I would have accepted the cost. Since you didn't, the price is unreasonable. A quick look shows that full jetting/camera/locating systems can be $10,000, and up. Taking just $500 of your $695 (er, $715) price you could pay for one in 20 jobs. Even for a $20,000 rig, one job/week will pay for it in a year.

Second, I'm not the least surprised you'd charge more to pull/reset the toilet. It was your choice to use the already pulled toilet for access. If that wasn't acceptable, it was your duty to say something. No, you certainly didn't reset it for no charge. Please!

Third, I have no idea what ""equipment you're known for"". If my 1984ish vintage home didn't allow you to deliver what you quote, at the level you're ""known for,"" you should either make that clear when you arrive or adjust your price.

Forth, if I call your business and ask the price for a service and I'm told ""$695... plus $20 for TOS"", then I think I know what I'm going to pay. Nowhere did anyone say ""for the first hour"" or ""this is complicated and may go over the quoted price."" I have no problem with paying a minimum call-out charge, or paying an hourly rate, when stated in advance. Tacking on a $20 fee (""but they all do it!"") to avoid having to quote a $715 price is just annoying or misleading. Be better.

Yes, the line is still draining. Though I don't think three months for clearing roots is a big success story. I've lived here 30 years and this is the first problem ever. Also, at this point the line has been repaired, so it's hard to say how long it would have lasted.

I do have to say that the people they sent were very nice and polite.
That said, they gave me inaccurate information that ended up costing me thousands of dollars.

Action Jackson did my sewer scope when I bought my house and said it would need to be redone in a year or two to check on a concerning section of the sewer line. I had them do the second sewer scope and they said a section of the sewer line was wearing out and needed to be replaced. No clogs or anything. I had a different company come out to do the work and when they dug it up nothing they had told me was accurate - either about the direction of the pipe (they said there was a 90 degree turn where there was none) or about the fact that it needed replacing. It was an expensive proposition to dig up my yard and put in a clean out. I wouldn't have done if I knew that it was not necessary. Avoid this company.

Fantastic service and people. I had totally screwed up and made the mistake of using a liquid drain product. Stunk up the entire house and didn't clear the block. A buddy who is an actual plumber recommended Action Jackson and I can see why. Maybe not the least expensive but I cannot praise them enough...seriously!

Action Jackson took our money and provided no service. We had them out to scope our backyard drainage. When they arrived, they told us they would need to cut into our downspouts and would leave holes they would not repair. I asked if they had any other options than damaging our home and they said no. We decided to not have them cut irreparable holes into our property and ended the visit. If they had let us know at the time of booking this may need to be done, I would not have scheduled. Although they provided no service, they forced us to pay $130 by threatening a lien on our house. Very shady practices and terrible customer service - steer clear!

Action Jackson has hydro-jetted our side sewer line every year for the past 6 years (we have bad root problems). This year, on Christmas Eve. They are always professional, prompt, kind, and communicate well - the person answering the phone/ scheduling & the crew that shows up to do the work. Highly recommend.

Action Jackson came to the rescue on a Sunday when the toilet wax ring on a rental top floor condo gave out and started leaking into the below condo. They gave a window of time that they would be there and they were. Our tenant is a nervous person and she was very comfortable with the person who came and their service. Action Jackson has serviced our condo complex in the past and was referred by our condo manager. Thanks!
